Ended up on a 3 star rating, I just didn’t really connect with Elliott or Macy in the present timeline, although I loved when they were younger and seeing their relationship grow. Had very similar feelings to you on some of the things you mentioned! And yay, glad you liked Anatomy! The atmosphere is amazing, and book 2 is great too 😊

My two cents on Love & Other Words as a therapist and a reader in my mid 30's is: life is not so black and white. I think the reason why LAOW resonated with me so much was because it really did portray such mature, nuanced relationships. Macy's fiancee had a very clear understanding of what he wanted in a relationship, while also holding space for the reality that feelings can change and truly loving someone is also being able to allow them to make the choices they need to make for themselves. There's no animosity there, just a lot of acceptance and compassion. It is also very possible to love more than one person. Not everyone needs to pursue polyamory or non-monogamy, but this is a real thing that happens. After the history she has had with Elliot - it is absolutely possible for that love to reawaken despite her already being engaged. As a therapist, I can fully understand how Macy - who has grown up with VERY limited family and support systems, and has learned to be hyper-indepedendent - has developed an avoidant attachment, which can absolutely lead to her going no-contact with Elliot for so many years. Especially given that her most cherished person (Elliot) "betrayed" her AND the loss she experienced AT THE SAME TIME. That is a lot of trauma and pain to hold all at once, and for avoidant attachments their go-to is to escape and move forward as a means of survival. Also want to mention that Elliot was just as much a victim here as Macy at the end. My one gripe with LAOW is that they actually did not make more space to address Elliot's trauma/abuse and only highlighted Macy's reaction to that. Other than that, I love your content, Faith
First of all I love your videos and I love that you now have a second channel! Second, at 12 minutes into your video your coffee mug, did you by chance get it second hand? If you did, you might check it for lead. My husband was really sick as a kid in the 90s and his pediatrician told his parents to check all there dishware for lead. Sure enough they had traces of lead, and they ended up throwing everything out and replaced everything with new and then he started feeling a lot better. I just wanted to pass it along in hopes it might help! Have a great week!

I read love & other words when I was younger and loved it, I know if I read it now I would not love it as much 🤣 it’s funny how your reading taste changes so much over just a few years
Yes! I agree, whenever the timeline has stretched longer than 4 years, maybe 5….and the characters are still giving each other the cold shoulder or the turmoil isn’t that deep it’s a turn off…
I have lots of ear problems, and sometimes when they hurt/give me migraines I use Wally's ear candles to remove wax/pressure and they help quite a bit. Idk if they would help with the infections part, but I definitely would recommend trying them out!
