I'm kind of disappointed that omnimechs weren't built as modular models. With different weapons systems that can easily be slotted in.
It was a judgement call to do pre assembled and I understand both sides of the matter. Hopefully there will be some sort of Omni weapons pack or unassembled sprees in the future for us hobbyists.
@@CamoSpecsOnlineFor sure - I think the quality of these sculpts are really cool. I hope they see some success and consider doing sprue kits like most of the other modern tabletop wargames these days.
think its still doable with magnets... the issue would be getting the alternate weapons/arms

So far I've been vey happy with the new sculpts, I spent the last couple nights adding little greeble bits and antennas to make them pop. Of the Clan mechs I really ended up liking the new Viper, it just looks like a Mi-24 on legs. On the Sphere side I was impressed with the Unseen, both the heavies and the lights came out great.
Great to hear that and I agree I'm definitely happy to have these out and soon to be more next year.
I've always been a Dire Wolf fan, and I love the new sculpt. I think the armor plates on the back give it a kind of turtle ish look so that's how I plan to paint one of them.
makes it less boxy while keeping the iconic look. Love it.

I agree the torso on the Vulture looks a bit too chunky, BUT it also is the first time I have ever seen a Vulture and thought "Huh, that almost looks like it is a direct design descendant from the Archer, as if they used the Archer as the basis of the design process". The fatter torso gives it that Archer vibe to it. And it would kind of make sense if they HAD used design elements from the Archer when building it, as the prime configuration of the Vulture is very much an LRM boat in the same role as the Archer.

It's a shame that posing and mold slip issues for Heavy Striker Star weren't fixed. These issues have been noted and commented on by backers the moment Heavy Striker Star was showcased in an update on the kickstarter page. And considering the delay in factory manufacturing these due to covid-19, it could have been fixed. It was simply forgotten and never mentioned again.
Many of these boxes have been stored in preparation for release, I'll wait for my wave 2 release before judging them
I agree, I remember seeing it on the showcase mini so hopefully the initial run of them will be the only ones with the slip. In the end I've had worse slipped metal casts that I didn't complain about so this is minor in the grand scheme and hopefully will help them QC a bit more of the final product for the next wave.

Good commentary B1, I agree I've been painting the front facing hex side the color of the faction I am doing just to make facing issues settled.
Thanks for your overviews, as these are very useful & informative. I'm getting into Battletech because of being a huge fan of Titanfall. And yes, Tex needs to voice a Titan in Titanfall 3 !

I wish I could have gotten these :( I just got into battle tech. Grew up on MW2 but it seems I missed the boat on some of these boxes :(
They'll all be available again once the production lines from overseas gets back on track.
It should be noted that the Clan Invasion record sheets aren't up on the download sight right now, just the stuff that came with A Game of Armored Combat and an update Long Tom record sheet.
Hopefully they'll catch up to the advertising on the box!
Yeah my Dire Wolf had the same twist in that arms, but your hot water method fixed it pretty handily

@@christophermavromatis7724 Brought the water to near boil and dipped the arm in for a few seconds to warm up the plastic, then gently twisted the arm and cooled it down with cold water to lock the angle. Give Camospec's vid on the subject a watch, it's a lifesaver.

You pointed out the Shadow Cat legs directly facing the corner, definitely an assembly error there. Torso and leg facing should be averaged to the front edge, but sometimes the assembly people are facing the torso or legs straight to the edge (torso to edge in this case). Like you say, not the end of the world.
Thanks, I try to not make a big deal out of something that isn't. Hot water or heat fixes the majority of the "problems" with these minis.

Agreed, The new looks are almost all great improvements. I have to say the Gargoyle/Man O'War is by far the biggest improvement to me. It went from one of the dorkiest looking mechs to me, where it looks like it's chomping down on a stick, to by far my favorite clanner model (Although I'm still not a clanner player...). I know not everyone is a fan of these redesigns, but I really have to hand it to them, they have been nailing almost every one of these.
Looking forward to more of these video's for the rest of the mechs!

The Summoner is my favorite from this video (looks-wise) and currently among all the new sculpts I've seen so far (Warhammer right up there with the Summoner) -- I've only probably seen 30% so far though. Didn't want to view unboxings so I would still get surprised when my stuff arrives, but then it's taking so long, so... Would love to see you paint more of these guys!
Yeah, I’m really liking my minis as well. I thought something was off with my stormcrow, and yeah, looking at this video I can see that mine came with a little bit of a bent arm. I assume that’s a job for hot water, right?
Hot water should be the fix for most situations.
Is the intro voice by chance Tex voice of Tex talks Battletech by chance? I think I'd recognize that voice anywhere.

It's very tempting to try and make my old MWO DWF that carried six Ultra 5s. Could literally just fit two more barrels into each of those side vents and it would match almost perfectly.
Great overview. The goofy crew in the Heavy Striker Star is calling out to me (really love the Vulture) and I think this is just the push I needed.
Where we can buy this box?
Early next year is the initial release plan. They should be available for pre-order on several online retailers already.

All Direwolf left arms are like that. Boil some water, pour it in a cup, dip the arm for several seconds, then twist and hold, repeat until it stays streight.
next to the timberwolf the Dire has got to be my favorite heavier mech... that dire looks nice besides the one arm.

I am not so picky about the sculpts.
Honestly neither am I. I love just about every metal and plastic sculpt with their unique looks. But some folks certainly have strong opinions one way or another and I felt it was best for me to bring out my own observations with the new sculpts.
@@CamoSpecsOnline I get it. it was a very thorough review. I love the new line so much The updated designs make a lot of sense over the old metal sculpts. The executioner in particular stands out as one of the best ressculpts.
The new mech redesigns are what won me over and got me back into Battletech. I really dig what Cataylst Game Labs is doing with the franchise and minis. I hope in the near future they sell single box mechs or on blister cards so you see what you're getting.
The current agreement with Ironwind Metals is that they can sell lance/star packs while IWM has control over individual miniature sales. There are a few exceptions but it's not likely that we'll see singles available in any great quantity due to the restriction.
Nice vid. Gives me something to look forward to with the wave 2 stuff I'm getting from the KS. Hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks, and the ones I'm showing here were delivered in the first wave of Kickstarter shipments. The next wave will be next year and after November 2020, the box sets will slowly be released for retail like what you're seeing at miniaturemarket.
My Shadow Cat was broken off at the ankles from manufacturer (clan salvage).
What's the best way to fix it?
You'd need to pin the joints but if it was broken upon delivery, contact catalyst for a replacement

So forgive if this is the wrong place to ask, but any recommendations/tips for painting the Clan Wolf beta-galaxy scheme? Beem having a lot of success with contrast paint but I'm not quite sure which to use as a base to achieve that tan color (if any).
I would suggest agaross dunes and basilicanum grey over wraithbone or ivory primer for Beta. You can see how both of those look in the contrast paint playlist on the channel.
@@CamoSpecsOnline You were totally right; those two plus a drybrush of Vallejo deck tan (70986) really did the trick, thanks bro.
Piranha Games really did an amazing job with them redesigning/updating most mechs for MWO first, which of course are since used near everywhere else.
Well these were done completely separate from piranha games and while there are similarities based on certain design features, Catalyst hires a design team to update the designs independently. All around the new designs are great for the hobby as a whole.
@@CamoSpecsOnline That's also true. The Marauder looks much closer to the orignal than Piranhas. I am still debating getting into Battletech on tabletop, as I have ever only played the variety video games over the years. And the late pledge on Kickstarter looks very tempting since the base game (A game of armored combat) normally costs around 100 $ or more here.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with these minis! I really like the work you did with your comparison examples, and the Kickstarter minis give so much more to work with.

how hot a water do you want to bend the plastic back.??
I get the water to boiling in the microwave then take it out and let sit for a minute and then start using it.
I do hope were going to see a clanwolf beta galaxy timby, just like poster.

They're not. Only the 2018 AGOAC special rush for Gencon ones were flexible. These are a hard PVC and will break if you bend them much.
This is a perfect showcase of how awful the minis used to be and how amazing the new ones are!

It is one of the more controversial poses. I don't mind it but I can understand folks not liking it.
