Only complaint: this episode should have been twice as long...Every day, the Cap gets closer to becoming the Johnny Carson of youtube guitar channels. Brilliant.
@@LostMyMojo100 Haha, thanks folks! Nice to see some people around here who actually remember Carson. XD Indeed, it was meant as a total compliment to the Cap. And of course, Pete Thorn is definitely IMO the benchmark for guitar gear vids, demos and reviews, although Rhett Shull is a very close second these days. Cheers folks and thanks for all the thumbs ups!
Richard Huckle I almost don’t have to watch his demo to know it will be a good pedal. I just search the pedal on UA-cam and if it shows up on one of his videos, I’ll def consider it.
Saw Chris Cornell on tour after Audioslave split. He was great but I was transfixed with his band, the guitarists were unbelievably slick that night. Only when I watched Pete Thornes tribute to Chris Cornell some years later did I realise who the brilliant nameless session guitarist was. Pete can play anything he's asked to play, not just able to play his own stuff, great video maker, always modest comes across as a genuinely decent man . Captain is an A grade interviewer, knows about his subjects but let's them do the talking and teases personal stuff out of them. Great watch.
Pete Thorn is a class act, humble and seems to pick up every vibe in the room so everyone can feel relaxed and that they got attention. If the aliens contact us, send this guy to the front and we will all be ok.
Pete Thorn, the legend. Great player, brilliant teacher and really nice fellow. Fine work from Lee in the interviewers chair and all the production people as well. Splendid example of how to do a UA-cam chat show.
I think this was the best "Captain Meets ..." to date. Pete is such a great and articulate guy and a great musician. Lee seemed more relaxed with Pete than any other guest, and it all flowed so easily. Thanks to all involved.
Very personable guy. Saw him on the street in Edmonton a couple of years ago. Talked to him for a couple minutes. Very easy to talk to. Nice little memory.
I remember in about 2007 learning eruption in about 7 parts from him. Still follow Pete to this day. The guy is an absolute genius and extremely talented player.
Pete’s “Eruption” video was the first time I realized that UA-cam could be a great resource for learning tunes. I was stoked! Unfortunately, I quickly realized that not many channels in that day could compete with a musician of Pete’s caliber. Stoked turned quickly to disappointment. Today, however, there are tons of monster players to learn from but he was one of the OGs in the UA-cam guitar lesson/channel game. And he is still at the top of the heap along with a couple others 🤘🏼
I see this title and click play and ‘like’ immediately. I’ve been looking forward to this for ages. 2 of my favourite and most decent youtubers in one go. Fantastic stuff!!
Every time Pete thorn does story time, you learn a lot and very fascinating. Such a amazing and humble dude! Also monster player! I’m glad I met him at the Baked Potato! Very authentic guy! Lol
Yep! Pet Thorn is the go to guy if you enjoy talking or learning about gear, straight down to earth and a lotta fun to watch n listen too. Always thoroughly enjoy his videos on his channel. Thanks for having him on.
How is it that Pete plays & presents like a mo fo on fire, and still make us all feel like we're in the same game as he? Plus, Lee is fast becoming a brilliant interviewer, very good at bringing out the subject.
Pete imho does in fact have a wonderful UA-cam channel that if you’re interested in guitar, amps , effects etc. is well worth watching. He’s. a phenomenal guitar player and a very down to earth person.
I just watched his take on A WAMPLER PEDAL and man he a Amazing player PERIOD !!! What a Top human being and this Interview is absolute one off the best I've seen without any bullshit thrown in. Cheers too the BOTH of you !!! STEVE FROM DOWN UNDER - AUSTRALIA !!!!
I’ve been waiting for this since Pete announced he had visited andertons on his clinic tour and it did not disappoint. A big thumbs up 👍🏻 Though you should have focused some time on his new ‘garnet red’ guitar.
Really enjoyed this great interview.Pete seems like a very humble down to earth kind of guy!Great player and his gear knowledge is a 10+.Love his Suhr model.I am buying one as I watch this video. Can’t decide Red of Black one!!Hard choice.Thornbucker pickups have clarity and articulation that’s unbelievable!!
Pete Thorn is pure awesome the real deal and a stand up guy too! He hosts a great live chat every Sunday and so so patient in questions. Great guy and player.
Great interview! Pete is an awesome down to earth person and great musician! Captain Lee Anderton, you sir, have done a great interview! Like one person on the comments said, "The Johnny Carson of utube!"
Pete is the most inspirational guitar player around in my opinion. Such a talented guy, with heaps of real world knowledge and chops for days. And he seems like a total dude.
The Captain not only entertains but also informs. Never fails that I learn something new on his watch. Thanks for the “IR for dummies” discussion damn!!
What a privilege to have a long form interview with Mr.Thorn! Would be hard pressed to find a more humble professional and true class act of a guy. Thank you Captain and rest of Andertons crew for such a treat!
and good lord what a tone! cant think of anything else I would ever want out of an amp! Mr.Suhr is a living legend whose knowledge of tone is almost savant like. How can one man be so supreme at building guitars and be a electronics wizard with amps? Would trade ten years to be able to be as good at one of those things!
Captain that is a freakin hilarious tshirt I want a few. Ya Pete thorn seems like such respectable guy, someone I could hang out with. World needs more people like him. Hope to meet him one day. Rick Beato too.
LOVED! PT is an awesome guy. A proper gear geek and really interesting. ...not to mention a MONSTER PLAYER! Honestly, I could have watched you guys talk all day long. Thanks. Definitely one of the best "Captain Meets" episodes ever.
I don't know a whole lot about P Thorn, but of course I've seen him on line. Obvious to me that he's a crazy good player and super nice dude. Hats off!
I’ve bought a couple of Suhrs since watching Pete. I have been buying guitars since the 70’s (read: “old guy” ) The build quality of Suhr guitars and dynamic response of thornbuckers - simply outstanding. I still have a sweet spot for my first Tele, which I bought 50 years ago :)
Met PT at one of his clinics. A very very charming, kind and inspirational man with a good sense of humour. I tried his Suhr and preferred his guitar to Martin Miller’s and Tom Quayle. He had superb tone at the clinic too. I think his song writing and musicianship really shine when he does gear demos.
I'm glad that there are high profile, accomplished guitarists who are personable and good with people and can articulate their knowledge and ideas well. Pete Thorn is one of these people who fit all of the above. Many great musicians are introverted or quirky and not good with people,..not good at articulating their ideas. And that is okay but thankfully there are guys like Thorn out there.
Pete Thorn is the dude! watching his channel for years now, it's just enough gear geekery and lots of inspiration and great music. get his album(s) guitar nerds :)
Wow, thanks! Best digestible discussion/demo of IR and DI. That clean DI sounds fantastic. I think Pete is really on to something with a portable amp that does all this. A decent 1X12 would give all the feedback you need while the amp handles everything else. Gear + Interview = Well done!
Great interview, so interesting to hear Pete’s back story. And that amp, wow! If I was a pro musician I would go straight for it. Love the consistent mic’d cab sounds. It’s just everything you need. Outstanding
I really dug this interview, thanks! And, in case anyone else wondered, I looked up The Four Cable Method: "a way to hook up a pedalboard to an amp in a way that allows you to control which pedals or effects are placed before the pre-amp and which pedals or effects are placed after the pre-amp in the amp’s effects loop." Turns out, that's what I've been doing lol!
I could listen to Pete talk all day long, amazing knowledge not just of playing but every tiny detail of gear and recording etc etc, the title of his first album 'Guitar Nerd' couldn't be more apt lol! Btw; if you don't have both albums then you're massively missing out, they get played in my car more than any other instrumental album I have (and that includes, Satch, Vai and Eric Johnson!).
Only complaint: this episode should have been twice as long...Every day, the Cap gets closer to becoming the Johnny Carson of youtube guitar channels. Brilliant.

Carson? How about Dick Cavett?
@X E Perhaps...or maybe Ed McMahon...JK ROB!! You're no sofa sidekick!
A much more 'authentic' interview with a guitar and player who delivers real value.
Not just an excellent guitar player, but seems like an excellent dude! Go Canada!
This guy's one of our finest musicians in the us and first class human
From what I have seen, Pete Thorn is probably the best demonstrator on UA-cam. Very thorough approach and entertaining at the same time.

simon naji thanks, was a blast hanging with Lee! Good times
Pete is an absolute gent. Went to his recent clinic in Edinburgh. Really nice genuine guy, very knowledgeable. Watching him work was a pleasure.

Alec McCloskey Yes. His videos are the reason I was finally able to play Eruption. Will always be grateful for that.

I could sit down with a pot of coffee and just let Pete talk all day. What a great guy, and amazing musician!
Michael Ott thanks Michael the coffee certainly fuels my talking ha!
Ah love Pete man. He is such an unique player and such an addition to the UA-cam guitar community :)
How much I wished there was a jam segment of Danish Pete and LA Pete.
agreed! that would be epic!
Pete imho does in fact have a wonderful UA-cam channel that if you’re interested in guitar, amps , effects etc. is well worth watching. He’s. a phenomenal guitar player and a very down to earth person.
