With only 60,000 active military personnel in Australia, I doubt very much that China are worried about us. China is also the 2nd largest donor of foreign aid to Indonesia behind only Singapore.

The main reason China would invade is to gain access to our minerals...eg iron ore. It is, as noted by others very difficult to move across Australia and occupy it. Distance, heat, lack of water, bad country and a host of other reasons hinders them. But they don't need the whole country, just the Pilbara. Occupying that would be easy. And the reasons making it hard to move into the rest of Australia make it equally hard for the ADF to advance into the Pilbara.
Would the US help under the terms of the ANZUS treaty...? Yes, I believe they would but what is needed is logistical solutions from them...things Australia does not have such as large numbers of transport planes/jets for transporting fuel, equipment, food, water, medical and so on. Of course, that requires AWACS planes, attack aircraft etc etc

I think that if China wanted they could easily field 100 million soldiers and they have the manufacturing base to support a mobilization of that scale. If Australia conscripted every able bodied person who wasn't required for essential services we could field 1 million soldiers, but have zero manufacturing base to arm, equip or sustain any protracted conflict. Our manufacturing complex is by far the lowest in the developed world and lags behind South Africa and New Zealand. We have no domestic strategic fuel reserves. In 4 weeks we run out of petroleum. Our strategic reserves are being held in... Wait for it... Wait for it... The USA.. Yes we pay the Yanks to store fuel for us, half way around the other side of the world so that we can use it in an emergency.. We are just a big unsinkable aircraft carrier for the USA, that happens to be sitting on (By far) the larges mineral deposits in the world. No, we don't do anything with them. We just dig that shit up and send it to China, where they make useful things and then we buy it back at grossly inflated prices.. We don't even sell our own natural Gas domestically. We export it to Japan, and then buy it back at grossly inflated prices. Why bother invade Australia, China and others are already getting everything we have to offer practically free. Our politicians are among the cheapest on earth. Why invade when you can buy a cheap politician and get everything at rock bottom prices. . Hell we even subsidize foreign companies to dig up our raw materials. And we subsidize the cost of importing the value added products back to Australia.. So yes. the tax payer, gives money to foreign companies to dig up the wealth of the land, and then we pay the postage cost for other Chinese companies to send goods back to Australia. Its cheaper to send a parcel from China to a domestic address in Australia than it is to post it domestically. Why. Because we subsidize the costs. Australia has already been invaded. The take over of Canberra happened years ago. Should you join the Australian Defense force and defend England. Yes our soldiers first duty is to the Crown and not the Australian people. A recent High Court case against a whistleblower who reported war Crimes committed by the ADF where the defendant (A soldier) argued that he had a duty to act in the best interest of the Australian people and report the war crime. The High Court ruled that his oath which he took on becoming a soldier is to the Crown (King Charles) and not to the Australian people. He is now in Prison. While we have a housing crisis ,employed families living in tents the defence budget should be zero ,we are a peace keeping nation that's all ,waiting money on equipment that by the time it's built it outdated

Damn straight we're not playing. We defeated the Japanese in New Guinea during WW2, outnumbered 9 to 1 after the Americans abandoned us. Our SASR is second only to the British SAS.

Just pray that no one ever calls Australia's bluff. There's holes everywhere in equipment and training. Haven't improved much from the 'barely completed' Timor debacle. Where the best troops on the ground were 200 Gurkha's as outside international help.

  • @Straya92

As an aussie i can assure you this, we have a recruitment crisis and not enough equipment to go around.
China is not concerned about us, the only reason they don't attack us is because they feat american retaliation.
Soon that won't be a problem. China outnumbers us and has far more naval vessels and firepower all round from land, sea to air.
We have a small handfull of decent aircraft but we are far from war ready.
The brics group is not afraid of the west as the members are among the richest and heavily manned military on earth.
We also all owe china money.
We need to conscript if we ever hope to have a chance of being on the world stage for much longer.
I was a cadet but they still won't accept my application.
Our government is making us weak on purpose because china owns alot of land over here so now their "opinions" matter to our "leaders"
We aussies are not in a good place.
Second. Rights only exist because of the force application, fight the enemy that wants to remove our rights. Fight them because of duty. Conspription ain't about removal of rights, it's about our duty to protect them when others force theirs onto us again'st our will... better to fight a battle you hate then to throw everyones life away to placate your delicate sensibilities.

I think it would be good for the young people to do at least 1 year of military service when they turn 18 years old. I find most of the young these days don't have as much respect for authority, other people and property. A bit of discipline might correct this pattern of behaviour that has developed.

    • @EL_Duderino68
      @EL_Duderino68 5 днів тому

This whole "young people these days" has been going on for thousands of years. It's crap.
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and chatter in the place of exercise.” Socrates said this 2400 years ago. The children haven't changed, it's just easy to forget what it's like to be a child.
I chose to serve in the Army Reserve when I was 17 and then the ARA. I don't think it should be compulsory though.

  • @tacitdionysus3220

The clip is a bit muddled and dated. The Defence budget is more like 2% of gdp. The tanks have been replaced with a newer model and most of the the old Abrams donated to Ukraine.
HMAS Adelaide and Canberra are not aircraft carriers but helicopter landing ships for amphibious operations. They are NOT being replaced with Hunter class frigates. The latter are an entirely different type of warship and quite a separate capability. Nulka has been around for a while. It is a 'hovering' rocket that stands off away from a warship and lures anti-ship missiles away from the latter
The Ghost Bat is not carried by an aircraft, but flies along with one (hence 'Loyal Wingman'). The numbers of aircraft mentioned 72 F-35s, but not any of the Super Hornets or Growlers. Virtually no coverage of the Army at all.
I would give this clip/site a quite low level of credibility and attention to detail.

That is definetly not all our tanks .. we have a large number of leopards too. And the abrahms isnt our "top of the line" .. its too big for a rail carriage here .. its too big to parachute out of a plane (unlike the leopard). Its too big for our littoral landing catamarans. Its here, we have some .. but we probably dont have much ability to take them overseas to tell the truth they are just too big :) And as an abrahms and a leopard can both one-shot each other .. whats the advantage in being the bigger target?

Please do an update on this video. Since this video, we have invested in additional M1A2Sep3 tanks, breachers and support vehicles, Apache Helicopters, Blackhawk Helicopters, Himars Systems, Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicles, Boxer Armoured Vehicles and K 9 Hunstmen Self Propelled Artillery. We are also doubling the size of the Navy and acquiring Nuclear powered submarines, although these will be years away. Tomahawk and NASAM also added to the arsenal. Just to name a few changes. Would be great to see an update. Good luck with the channel.

I never belived in conscription but I now think if your 18 it would be better for everyone to go as long as you have the choice if a war came to go or not. I think you are better off with some knowledge of how to prepare, defend yourself or help others if war came to your country. We are now taking those already in sevice from the 5 eyes country and after one year service I believe they can become an Australian citizen. Not sure how many the are taking.
