    Over the years I keep coming back to your channel. Your narration is easy on the ears and the articles are built on logic. You, The Immortal (whos inactive the past 2 years), and that cop dude who also teaches prepper stuff are my top guys. Special mention too for Tactical. Cheers dude!

    You have good information.
    However, the skills in this for the majority of people would be stalking, camoflauge, scouting, concealment, and tracking. The long range shooting will come in handy. But you wouldn't be wasting the kind of resources to take a shot like that, on any joe or Jane just to steal some twinkies. The amount of equipment, personnel, and training to do a shot like this would be held for high value targets. Especially when you build a precision rig.

      Exactly. This series is gonna focus on those skills you mentioned. But I wanted to get the technical calculations necessary for extreme shots out of the way. The next episodes will definitely be more practical oriented. Skill based and similar areas. Thanks!

      I know this may sound dumb but I’m using these in a game Roblox D-Day and I have the sharpshooter gamepass and tbh it is harder to make a long range shot because it’s hard to even find cover or a position to begin with and you have to get in a common soldier shooting distance if you don’t have quality WiFi and I don’t so I have to get close and if you hide in a tree branches you have to get close to the front of the tree in order to have good vision and it’s usually hard if your behind enemy lines even though you have less risk the people will end up finding you when they res pawn if they see where the shot is coming from and where you are before they respawn I know that some of these skills addressed in the video are valuable in a video game or even apply they sorta help in a strange way also in the game you can only one shot kill with head shots if you hit a helmet it just knocks the helmet off and if you hit a body part that isn’t the head you will only really do about 30 damage but I usually play as Axis when doing Sharpshooter since I think it’s easier to find positions and your mostly defending and I also have a grenade and rpg game pass that also helps in the game the Germans use a scoped Karabiner 98k while the Americans use a Scoped 1903 Springfield and I tbh think the American sniper role is really only good from the beach to the beginning of the forrest it isn’t much well anywhere else while the German role is good from the stronghold to the village but I do prefer the American scope to the German Scope

      Best thing about a .308 Winchester is battlefield pickup possibilities. Even in a total breakdown of society situation. The likelihood of finding .308-win ammo in an abandoned home or apartment is very possible. Same with 9mm Lugar ammo. Maybe not every house, but, very likely to find it.

    Not bad, but some confusion. The spotter is the more experienced sniper out of the two, since they are the ones making the calls that will determine a hit or miss.

    When you take your first shot you have to assume you have given up your position. So make sure that shot is a good one and you have multiple escape routes from your position.
    My freind told me a story from the war in bosnia, a sniper took up a position in the roof of an apartment block and was shooting through a hole in the roof tiles.
    By his third shot the building was getting hammered with motars.

    I built up a Mosin m44 for sniping/hunting mostly because I have over 4500 rounds of it in tin cans sealed. 7.62x54r. Might not be the greatest but I will always have enough ammo. Plus I have a ton of parts for it and I can completely tear it down and re build it blind. Plus I have the archangel stock on it and have many 10 round mags for it. I have a scope mounted on it but have all the parts for the iron sights in the stock. Might not be the best on paper but will be the best for me. The likelihood that I will ever need to use it for combat is so low it wouldn’t be worth investing thousands on ammo for another gun.

      Belted casings ,large amount of slow powder , huge muzzle blast and flashes. I disagree. 8mm rem mag ,or the newly packaged 8mm round the)) lapala( i think? Would be great if you plan to shoot over 1 000 yards. 300 mag is only a 1,000 yard hunting rifle. I would prefer a m1 grand with a tuff 6 power fixed optic mounted on a welded side rail myself. Or a strong push feed bolt. 30,06 will do anything a 300 will do with less kick ,blast or flash. But 7.62 military rounds will be easy picking when hunting amo. So 308 is logical choice

    Interesting discussion of of a subject I hope will never become a reality. Would like to add something as a test of shooting skills. If you have a Mil-radian based scope and want to see if your within a MOA circle. Use 0.3 mils as a guide, O.3 mils is 1.08" at 100 yards. One MOA is 1.047" at 100 yards. I say that's close enough, 0.033" difference.
    If using that metric stuff put three bullets into a 29mm circle at 100 meters and call it a day. Still close enough.

  • @knokname6466

    The FBI came up with a much more simple method of determining uphill/downhill hold-off for angled shooting; a method that can be done by most people in their head. I've been told that it's also being taught to military snipers, but not police since they require a more exacting target standard. Here goes: Whatever you estimate/range the distance to a target that is on a 45 degree angle, use 7/10s the distance as the range. Using your example of 500 yards: Divide 500 by ten (50) and multiply by 7 (350 yards) will be the range to use. True, it isn't as exact as formulaic measure, but for the purposes to which we're speaking, it's close enough. For targets at 30 degrees or less, use 9/10 the indicated distance. Again, close enough for government work. At most, the only tools needed will be a stick and dirt to figure on. Using the Mil-dot to measure size/distance is probably more important than retaining formulas, but each of us has to determine that for ourselves. Good video so far, will watch others (and look for more spelling errots-- oh, wut's an 'oredict'?) Thanks, keep up the good work.

      @SheFlungDung 3 роки тому +1

      Tiborusrex does a sniper101 series, very detailed and it’ll help you pick the right cal for the job. I’d stay away from the 338. It’s a lot of fun to shoot, but comes with unique issues. Such as, finding a range where you can stretch it out and utilize its ability to hit ULR. The ammo isn’t cheap compared to most other calibers, so unless you’re saving your brass and hand loading or are wealthy, how are you going to become proficient? The terminal ballistics on it are great, but you can get by with a lighter/small weapon, and a weapon who’s ammo is going to be readily available. Also, if you’re not an ULR shooter and able to make the training, cost and time commitment I’d stay away from the 338.
