Clean tones are distinct whereas the crunch tones are very subtle, there's more of a difference between EL84 valves and octal ones. Amazing build quality on these amplifiers - it's an amp where you taylor your sound with preamp and power valve of choice. Has a few design secrets too, I notice the sound always gets interest from other people moreso than usual amps.
I was about to be the "bUt HaVe YoU rEBiAs'D tHe AmP" but literally that Q was answered in the first few seconds XD Great work on testing these valves for a side to side. Honestly they really have stubble differences, if any, and I guess it shows the amp manufactures, or at least THD, know what they're doing when choosing their parts if anything :D
I did the same test about 20 years ago! Borrowed a THD Univalve and got a box full of tubes. Very little difference between them sonically. Mostly minor gain and volume differences. Cool little amp though!
Funny that guitarist, musicians, audiophiles are masturbating over tubes but never asked about output transistors on poweramps? Maybe it's like the tubes, it does not matter! (Jokes aside, when you know how it works except minors changes, no tubes don't matter.)
Listened to this in my car. The clean tones all seem to have minir differences but as soon as there was any distortion applied, all the same.

Thanks! did you prefer any tube over the others?

Very cool and underrated amp!
Svetlana EL34!
Only real time I heard a difference was the Svetlana during the clean tone, same with the Cei 6ac7.
Yep! I thought the same as you👍
All the clean tones were different.

Heck, sorry but that amp simply sucks, I wouldn't even try to change tubes.
Not a tone I’d use, but it think is has its place!
