Yep. I remember before Euro 2004 (I think) The Times ranked David James higher than Barthez which was just about the most laughable thing I had ever seen. Of course in the game France v England. Barthez saved Becks pen whilst James gave away a pen for France's winner. Nationalistic Fools, the lot of them. James was not even worthy of Barthez's single strand of hair, if ever that existed.

One of the few One 2 Elevens where there were no disgusting decisions, I don't think he could have picked a better team and what a team! Imagine Zidane and Scholes playing together, that partnership would kill off any football team
I think Vieira, Keane or Makelele should have been in there over Petit - probably Makelele if you're taking the tactics seriously, what with how the rest of the team's set up - but all the rest are fair enough.
That back-five is ridiculous! Add Deschamps in the midfield and Zidane, and no wonder about 1998. There was a real offensive lack around Zidane though. But that was so solid.
+Romano Bundy Man growing up watching Zidane play was out of this world. Sure there have been great players before and after him. But none of them ever played like he did. Going through all these videos, it's amazing to see how everyone has such almost God fearing respect for Roy Keane. Even when Barthez didn't have him included here, he needed to have a little side note story with Keane at the end lol. Really interesting.
Agree. Keane was a machine, a leader, without him Man Utd wouldn't win jack back in the late 90's. Personally I think Scholes and Giggs were less significant in that team than Keane and Beckham. Keane lifted up the whole team, make them work harder, while Becks was IMO the best midfielder, most of the goals came from his assists and he was saving the team from losing with his insane freekicks.

It was pretty much a mindgame of "I know, that you know, that I know" with Buffon and he ended up going too high. Unfortunate but it's bound to happen between club teammates sometimes. Even if Zidane and Henry were still on the pitch it's safe to say Trezeguet still would've been one of the first five pen takers at some point.
I wanted to love the guy, but aside from taibi and goram hes the worst keeper we've had, him and blanc (who at one point was fantastic) were way passed their expiration date, and I still have the feeling with another GK we've had another CL in our cabinet

To be fair he was awful for Man United.
You did not forget about Rudi Völler.

Good pick up XI from Fabien, it did raise my eyebrows when he put Petit ahead of Deschamps, Makelele, and Roy Keane, but he had his own point about it
one of the great keeper .I am loving his performance in world cup 1998 specially.
everybody who played with henry puts him in their best 11.. guy was the best forward for me of all time could do anything
Scholes aswell
