This is one of your best nano cube scapes so far. Great choice of natural rocks in the foreground and a good mix of plants. The parsly plant is great. That's the first time I've seen it.
Thank you for the detailed list of items and their US sources. I appreciated your inclusion of the names of the plants during the video. My hearing is very poor so it is especially appreciated! I am going to set up my first betta tank in 50 years and am so thankful that there are videos to help. You can’t imagine how different it is from 50 years ago! Living in a small town in the US South, there was almost nothing available, especially live plants. I used artificial plastic plants that I kept in a bucket of water outside to encourage a thin film of algae to make them look like living plants! 😊
I just set up my Navy Blue and Gold betta's tank. His name is George. He's fully blue with a peach-gold curved line towards the edges of all his fins. He's so much happier now that he has 60-70° F water. He had warm water before, but it wasn't super warm. His new tank isn't super warm either, but it's a lot warmer and he loves it. I also recommend checking out this one aquatic plant that we have here in the US, and they may be in Sweden and The Netherlands too. We call them "Delta Arrowheads". When grown right, they look very similar to sword plants. Another plant I recommend checking out is water lettuce. Although they are large floating plants, you can get their smaller cousin, the dwarf water lettuce which is significantly smaller than the normal water lettuce. The reason I recommend them is because they are great for bettas and platies. As you may know, both species love thick brushy stem plants and crypts, but they also love large floating plants, as you may also know. I'd love to get feedback as to what you think of them. I also have an aquarium design request. Would you Consider making water jungle/green savannah tank for a video? what I mean by this is basically, a tank without a hardscape but it has a lot of sword plants, java ferns mixed with hair grass in the mid and background and a lot of Anubias nana petite mixed with dwarf hair grass in the foreground. As for the inhabitants, it would have nano shrimp and mollies (mollies are closely related to platies but they're slightly larger). If mollies aren't available, goldfish are also a good substitute. The reason I asked, is because my brother wants to make one, but he's never set a tank up in his life. Now of course, I realize that this be quite pricy and time consuming, so you do not have to do this, but it would be greatly appreciated by me and my brother and would makes his project much easier. Also, 5-star review on the betta tank. It looks awesome. Thank you so much for the inspiration!.
Hey Sam , I think you have a good head , and taking care of family is everything. Simple request 4️⃣ you 2️⃣ increase the temperature for your Betta . whenever they are in colder water it's always a great stress that has caused many health problems that usually have a sad ending .... So 78`° - 81`° is the best temperature if you have a feeling that I might be wrong it's always best to get the answers for sure but please don't wait to long !!!!!
Recently got into this and love your videos. You have a beautiful manner about you, very calming and your tanks are stunning. Thanks for creating this channel and sharing your hobby with everyone, I have already learnt so much!
He’s done it again 😃👌🏼 boss lad. It’s great the way you tend to use your wood pieces vertically I usually go sideways or whatever with mine, ive always wanted to go vertical, To make the perspective even deeper in my woodland scape idea. Just never had the right materials
Absolutely stunning as always! So jealous of the aquascaping resources/stores you have access to in Europe! Would love more updates on saltwater tanks!
ADA has a new(ish) product called power sand advance that's supposed to be the base layer and "magic" powders in one package. Glad to see you got good results with that kind of setup. Going to try it in my upgraded shrimp tank once FedEx manages to deliver a tank without breaking it.
It looks great Mark! And I want another betta so bad especially an alien betta! I tried so hard to convince my kids to put a betta scape in their new own bedrooms! But I failed to get them hooked on aquascaping haha they want lizards cause you can’t hold fish 🤦♂️🤷♂️😂 I coulda had two scapes with good excuses to the wife for new scapes 😂
Wonderful Tank. Your alien seems very happy 🙂 I have a new experiment to suggest you for the futur tests: weekly fertilizer vs daily fertilizer. Which is better ? wich get less algae and grow the more ? Thanks for all MJ, you inspire me and my tank 😉
Maybe a silly question but does the CO2 diffuser and strength of the filter not stress the betta? I watched some other vids and people were saying that the water should be still but I want a setup like yours, just looking for confirmation that that amount of movement is fine Also, I love your vids!
Hi! Did the “magic powders” work? Did they help with the start up algae? I am a beginner at aquascaping, just last night did a 4 gallon Vase and of course was inspired on your work. I love your approach to aquascaping and really enjoy the way you explain the process of building and planting this “little gardens” how my daughter calls them. :) You do an amazing job, keep it coming please! 👏🏼
Love it! For a long time I wanted to ask you about the brand of your shelf. Its great and I am looking for such for my aquariums. Unfortunately most of these in Europe are not solid enough for aquariums.
how would i add fluval stratum to an already established tank? i don’t really have a back up tank to move my samurai betta and loaches in to. i have a fluval vista 23gal
Hey MJ, ive been looking at so many of your videos! You're a super talented aquascaper imo. I'm a beginner in the hobby myself, and while i like to work with wood i really just cant seem to get rid of tannins! What do you do to remove them?

Yo where do you get your nano tanks every time I look for them they are really expensive.
@@TherealJoeMamalol, euros are worth more than US dollars, so for him, it's prolly cheaper from his view.

Thanks for watching!
Mr. Alien looks so much like my Mr. Ice Cube, I think they are cousins. Cheers MJ

exciting build! hope you have a good day :)) thanks for the amazing content to look forward to!
you made it look so simple. but it's a really nice scape. cool betta aswell 😎 👏
Do a video where you test "the magic powder" (ada additives) compared to not using it. It is interresting to see if it has any effects on algae
Super nice 👍
Very nice! Sometimes, simple is best.
You got that right!
Very nice betta. I'm getting another one this Christmas
Great 👍
Bedankt voor de video Mark! Ik ga binnenkort ook een betta tank maken, heel veel ideeën nu! Thanks

❤ Thank you so much MJ! 😊 You’re great!
Doesn't the baking soda raise the ph?
What's that other fish in the tank with the betta?
I don’t think this tiny amount will do much to the ph 😊
how would i add fluval stratum to an already established tank? i don’t really have a back up tank to move my samurai betta and loaches in to. i have a fluval vista 23gal
The plants really makes it feel like a jungle! Did you add moss to the spider wood?
Yeah the moss is not really attached to the wood, it just kind of stays there
Congrats for your video 😀
Thank you! 😃
I love alien bettas, only one issue mine are super agressive, even killing the snails.
Do you have the light link where we can arrange it? 🙏🏻
Hi @mjaquascaping, if you add a heater into the planted tank, won't the plants melt?
Nope :)
@@MJAquascapingAlright thanks for the info. :) I'l try that out.
which moss did you use? Is it fissidens ?
beautiful tank 😍, can you tell me what lens you use to record your tanks? :)
Hey MJ, ive been looking at so many of your videos! You're a super talented aquascaper imo. I'm a beginner in the hobby myself, and while i like to work with wood i really just cant seem to get rid of tannins! What do you do to remove them?
Regular waterchanges, and/or carbon or Seachem Purigen in the filter.
Most of the wood that I use does not release tannins. But I would do exactly like Frank mentioned :)
Hello does anyone have any tips for ten gal freshwater plants for river look oh and also any tips for fish in general
Hoi ziet er mooi uit, vraagje ik dacht dat je geen garnalen bij de Beta kon doen, maar zo te zien gaat het wel
Ik kan er geen duidelijk antwoord op geven. Soms gaat het wel, en soms niet.
Have you ever had issues with small creatures (shrimp/snails) co-living with a betta fish?
Сода 👍
Waar heb je deze betta gehaald?😮
❤
Could you link that light for me?

🤩
How do you find the time to make a beautiful aquasquapes and get shredded at the same time, workout routine video incoming? xD
🤣
That’s interesting with the baking soda, I’ve seen baking soda used to euthanise fish so I’m hoping it’s all safe?
The small amount used for glueing will not have any effect on the tank and inhabitants 😊
My betta killed all caridinas from the tank :( is it normal? even to ottocinclus was attacked :(
Yeah they can be aggressive sometimes
what type of moss is that?
Fontinalis :)
@@MJAquascaping thanks!
de russische baking soda, herkenbaar ;-)
That's Ukrainian baking soda!
Get a female into that tank so they can propagate.
Why did you switch off Russian subtitles 😢?
Currently UA-cam doesn’t allow me to use any subtitles sorry…
