Okra, Hibiscus flower, Aloe, Cactus (anything with slip), grandma recipe were used in our hair care growing up in the Caribbean Islands. All those things were easy access in our back yard since we grew a lot of things... We are probably from the same Island...

@Tai_Arts yeah don’t use nothing with acid on your skin it will do more harm. I blend the nopal..strain it mix it with the prickly pear oil/neem/Brazil nut oil & some melted mango butter. You can feel the difference the nopal is making on your skin..it’s heaven. I had bad issues with hyper pigmentation and my skin is differently smoother now.

Oh I do this. However, I grate the cactus and okra and strain the slim instead. You do not need to wait hours before you apply the shampoo (when grated). I also notice that when I've applied the shampoo multiple times a week, I have less dandruff.
Love to see us Caribbean women making use of what we have in abundance 🙌

    Wow... I'll try this....
In my country in Nigeria we grow okra a lot...I have an okra farm here, so I use the okra pods and aloe vera and guava leaves....it does work well on my hair... I'll try adding the okra leaves and this method.

When young men and young women are trying to start locks they use the acro leaves the slime to go in their hair and then they twist it and they tie it up and it locks pretty quickly it also gives your hair a serious shine

It grows wild in our garden and nobody remembers planting it. But 14 plants just popped up without anyone even noticing them till I moved back home) ,I alternate each washday (every 4 days or so) and a normal shampoo twice a month.

Okra and the leaves are hard to find in my neck of the woods.
