When are we going to hear about xrate COP vs USD? (now at 4.800) How have Colombians circumvented the xrate, to still rip off Gringos? I see most real estate is priced in USD now, intra-country airline flights & hotels are jacked up to the new xrate USD?......ha they cannot reprint all the restaurant menus now, or can they, ha?

Good interview with interesting perspectives. Can't say that I agree on his view about young brothers from the US "ruining" the DR or any other places in Latin America.
First, I don't understand the mindset that pay to play (P2P) is inflation proof. The back in the day $40 story? Well, back in the day I could get two steak dinners at a very good restaurant for $40. In 2022, that won't get you half of one dinner. Cost of goods and services, more often than not, rise over time.
Second, while it may seen that a high percentage of the travelers to the DR/Latin America are brothers from the US, it's actually a small percentage of the total, even in the P2P subset.
Third, if you've been seriously traveling to Latin America long enough (25+), then you would know that some of these similar arguments were being made back then about brothers from the US, EXCEPT back then they were being made by Italians, Germans and other Europeans.
So while I agree that the landscape and mindset of these women have changed significantly over the past 30 years, I don't think the young and/or overweight brothers throwing money around is the cause. The materialistic conspicuous consumption mindset is not a way of life born out of the black community. It is indeed American, but born from a capitalist majority (white) culture. The fact that it has permeated into other cultures/countries probably has more to do with the digital age and the fact that culture is truly America's #1 export, than it does with the flow of some random brothers "vacationing" in the DR/Latin America. I'd even posit that domestic forces within these foreign countries have had more of an influence in the change of attitudes and perspectives of these woman than contact with American brothers.
Nonetheless, it is good to see brothers living life on their terms!
