Warning: rant incoming. This was made late at night, and I felt like ranting for whatever reason. (though I’m going to be honest it was probably to let some frustrations out.) Any corrections to my statements is appreciated, as well as others perspectives. I don’t really understand why conservatives think that furries are a disease or something. I have seen the fandom, I know the good and the bad, but I still don’t understand why they try to pin being a furry as a bad thing. And like, I get that they want things to stay the same from what I remember about politics, but that doesn’t mean they should demonize everything that seems new. So you’re telling me that when the Egyptians several thousand (I think) years ago worshiped animal-headed deities, it was fine. But the moment someone sorta emulates the appearance for fun, it’s suddenly bad? It makes zero sense. And another thing that annoys me about conservatives is that they seem to not actually do research. From what I gleaned from some light scrolling in the internet is that they get their information solely through news sources, which are often heavily biased and only report anything that would get a reaction, get more views and all that. Unfortunately, this also seems to be a theme with my own dad, who I honestly haven’t heard much come out of his mouth in terms of furries, but for trans people he seems to think that most have mental illnesses that cause them to be trans, and that a lot of trans people regret going through the surgeries when they get them young, effectively citing the information with “I’m your dad, I know more than you.” …Not that he’s ever said that but to me it feels somewhat like that’s what he means. Now, all this is to say that from what I’ve seen, conservatives are trying to prevent the very thing that makes us human: evolution. Granted, it’s not physical evolution, but evolution also includes behavior. So to me, by putting their own values ahead of trying to see what’s actually happening and letting things go a little. Now, that’s not me saying that I’m perfect either, don’t get me wrong. I know I don’t do as much research as I should. But to simply shut down any possibility of previous ideas being wrong seems stupid.
I see one major problem in your thinking. You seem to assume that they thought out their positions, care about if they make sense/are rational, or anything like that. The more I hear from the conservatives, the more I'm convinced they don't even know what they believe. It is just a hodgepodge of things they've heard and gut feelings. They can't make an argument, because an argument didn't convince them. It's all just post hoc. Sadly, you can reason someone out of something they didn't reason themselves into. It also revolves around religious assumptions a lot, too, which have the same problem. They are told something, never think about it, but will die for it. I have an aunt whom I argue with a lot, and she often defaults to just flatly denying what I say. She doesn't have a reason, she doesn't point out a flaw in my premises or conclusions, she just relies on her faith and assumptions to shield her from reason. Conservatism really is a rot all the way down, from the grifters that trick people to scam their oftentimes older, dumber, and more vulnerable fans, to those fans that rely on their gut more than their mind, to the hatred inherent to the ideological framework, and more. If you asked most hardcore conservatives about the Egyptian worship of those gods, btw, I would bet most of them would make some religious claim that the Egyptians were evil or misled into worshipping the false idols. I've even talked to anti-furries that think we basically are just doing that same thing. It's crazy out there...
I’ve lived in a conservative family my whole life (don’t know where I stand yet) , and you’re mostly right, but generalizing a little bit. That’s one type of conservative, but there are other kinds too. For most of my life I’ve always done extensive research about the opinions of both sides to see what they think, and shape my opinion from that, otherwise I won’t make an opinion. A lot of conservatives are very gun ho and only listen to the news, those are the dumb loud ones. So since the dumb loud ones are so loud they put a bad label on every conservative. At its core it’s mostly just about keeping the constitution and the amendments in tact, and making shure that we don’t lose any freedoms, including guns (which most conservatives don’t like). Now I haven’t gotten that in to conservative politics to know what biases they have, but not all conservatives are like that, and I’m sorry we have to deal with imbeciles that don’t put thought Into any of their choices. Also I’m choosing to stay politically ambiguous, so none of this is opinions, just my observations from personal experiences. I think it’s a lot harder to demonize political groups when we know more about each-other, so I think it’s good to not do that to either side, lest we lose all good reason for an argument.
@@tamaruautumn5325 I disagree. I see the basis of conservatism as being hateful, since it almost always falls back to centering the conversation on some out group they feel comfortable attacking. I doubt most conservatives are interpersonally bad people, but the ideological framework itself seems rotten. It's like how someone is WWII Germany could've agreed with the leadership, but been really good to everyone they knew. People are really bad at being consistent, and this applies to applying political ideas into their interactions. I agree we shouldn't demonize any group, but it is possible for a group to just be bad. I see every person, progressive or conservative, or of any other label or any kind of life as a person deserving of respect, but their ideas and actions can still be abhorrent, and deserving of criticism or the taking up of arms against them.

Only problem now is he's gonna be that grossly incompetent guy that wrote a joke into the most serious thing that everyone needs to be serious about.
