This is actually the Coldplay a lot of people miss. It could almost have been on Parachutes. Four guys playing live serving the song, and an excellent song at that. Absolutely superb.

i love how much faster this performance is than the studio version and other live performances; it confirms that they are playing this solely without any count-ins or clicks in their ears, which evidently allows them to feel the music much more organically than normal. i've noticed the lead into the 5/4 section can be a bit messy sometimes, but this was so smooth as it seems like they really *felt* the music between them, rather than it being telegraphed through their earpieces. i've been to their stadium concerts - which are amazing and life-affirming experiences - but for a lot of it, it can often feel like someone pressing play on a recording. i miss these kind of performances where we get to see the band operate as close to how they would have done when they first started out some 25 years ago. thanks for recording this special song, and for the singing!

my two children would love to meet Chris and his bandmates, since my girls were 2 and 3 years of age, they've been hooked. Now they're 10 and 9 - can't wait to see these guys.
This song w/o backing tracks is CRAZY I can understand why Chris messed up the chord changes in the middle. :D It still sounds amazing, esp with Jonny's guitar effects. I can't believe they would perform it like this with no safety net.

While this is my favorite Coldplay song, I can’t really say the same about this performance. I like the slightly slower tempo that the piece was originally composed in, as well as the backing tracks.
@@RobertKrebill What I’m hearing is “I like watching the band play the song along to a track rather than actually demonstrating their live musicality” :( You’ll always have the studio version, but these live versions are unique and aren’t fakely augmented by prerecorded tracks

Best song in their discography?nah its a good song but songs like Amsterdam, yes, strawberry swing, shiver are better but its for sure the most bold and unique song they have made one of their best but not their best in my view.

It's a hard song to play tbh. They confirmed that as well. A song that lasts 10 minutes is hard to not mess up somewhere
In stadium concerts this type of song just doesn't work, or at least for Coldplay's target audience who are more focused on the most popular ones
