I don't have that option when I right click. Why tf is this not enabled by default, so frustrating. I think it just doesn't work with certain plugins, it works with vital but not modo bass. That's getting uninstalled.
something i asked myself for a few years now but never being smart enough to just google it... what a nice quick tutorial video, just the essentials, love it :)
Very helpful and to the point, thanks. I found I prefer the "midi ctrl + pitch bend" for when I'm just going for a certain "feeling" rather than precise notes
Really appreciate this to-the-point guide. I wanted to have a lead in UHE Triple Cheese bend down at the end of each phrase, after I'd got a perfect midi track down. So you've saved me having to repeat everything - thanks!
Hey, is there a way to use the midi pitch wheel to add pitch bend to existing midi notes? I'm not tryna draw everything in, nor re-play all the notes live... Thanks so much!
Anybody wanting to know, I figured it out. It's the 'MIDI Overdub' button next to record automation or 'Automation Arm' button, if you wanna check it out, here's a vid ab it: ua-cam.com/video/u6G5N78qTYM/v-deo.html He doesn't talk about the pitch bend in it specifically, but it works just the same. Cheers! :)
Do you know if it's possible to automate pitch bend in the master channel? Or at least groups. I'm curious if there's a way to pitch bend multiple channels at once.
How do I select a note without it deleting it or having to right click it and have the menu pop up? Also how do you bend all the notes at once? If i'm bending a 20 note chord there is no damn i'm way i'm doing that to each note individually.
It sounds like you have draw mode on. You can disable this by pressing “b” on your keyboard when musical typing is turned off or you can click the pencil in the top of the screen.
Hi man, thanks for the video, but would you know how to record the pitch bending automation directly from your midi controller hardware? As exemple when I record something on the Akai MPC software, I would simply record the notes as such, and then I would record on overdub and only play with the mod wheel to add pitch bending. I'm sure sure this is something that can be done on Ableton 11 but I cannot find how.
@@quintinspina4270 Tbh I don't remember as I really struggled to adopt Live instead of the Akai software.. sorry but if that comes up I'll try to remember to send you an update ;)

@@kylechumchal hmm okay yea thanks, i use a vst thar replicates an old juno. Is the best way to do it then to bounce it to audio and do it in audio ? Cheeers.
Do you know which Ableton instrument it is? This feature doesn’t work on all Ableton instruments. Try using the preset called B Bass and see if it works with that
yeah so basically none of those work for me. idk how to put it into words but basically it's just like... not pitch bending like I want. I need it to pitch bend higher and it seems even when maxing out the pitch bend it will only very minorly pitch it up when in reality shouldn't I just be able to pitch it up or down as much as I creatively want?
This really depends on a number of things. If you are using a plugin there are a lot of factors that could cause this. If you are using MPE (the note expression one) then you need to make sure it is an MPE enabled plugin. If you are using an actual pitch bend you may need to change the pitch bend range in the plugin.
If its not pitch bending by note expression, do not forget to "enable MPE mode" on the VST/Plug in by right clicking the VST in the effects rack.
I thought my ableton was broken, thank u so much 😂
could you make a video on how to do it because I do not really understand
Even after doing this, the pitch bend still wont work. I'm using the spitfire audio plugin
@@AlexHaitchsame here :(

commenting for the algorithm because your channel deserves way more subs/views
The support is much appreciated! Thank you so much 🙏
Thank you for this, it is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks mate. Clear and succinct!!
Just learned to do this with MIDI, didn't know about the alt key to change the flat line to curve -THANKS!
Great Video, short and to the point. This tutorial answered my question as to how to bend from one note to another. Thank You.
Or you can just use Glide or Portamento from the synth and even automate it.
Thank you, appreciate your feedback, will give it a shot. Thanks Again@@AFRoSHEENT3ARCMICHAEL69
LOVE IT!!
Learned something new, many thanks my dude
thank you!
i am totally new on ableton 12, it seems that it's called MPE, in the section next to Notes and Envelopes
SO HELPFUL KEEP IT UP.
THANK YOU! !
thank u bro
Can this be done with Ableton Lite?
Yup! As long as it’s version 11
i appreciate you

The best way I can think to do it would be to do the pitch bend in the midi and then duplicate the midi to the other tracks that need the pitch bend.
Note expression doesn't work on some instruments unfortunately, the pitch remains constant (using "Saw 3 Waveforms" instrument for example).
Thanks

ty! perfect demonstration
Does this work on sound library’s for example nucleus audio imperia
Some of the methods should be but possibly not all.
hey what version of ableton is this? that might be useful in future videos, in the description
my pitch bend is only moving in squarish increments, I am unable to build an upward slope with it, how do I get breakpoints?

Which ableton are you using?
Live 11 suite. As long as you have any version of 11 you should be able to do all of this.
the midi ctrl and note expression both dont work on a certain plugin i own, should it be possible with every plugin or no
I believe it only works on synths that support mpe. So for example it works with serum but you have to enable some settings.
