  • Out walking I explain the main reason I camp on flood zones and check on the river and the camp more flooding and more rain to come hopefully tomorrow it will start going down again some cool wild fungus I spotted it thanks for watching see you all soon

    Yous should try frying some sausages in coca cola and throwing in some of the wild garlic -really nice , my kids love it when we go down the river for campfire 👍

    Those scarlet coloured fungi are called elf cups and quiet edible if that's your thing, John.

    Thank you, for the lovely nature walk, and educational presentation. In my part of Texas, we have some trees that will grow at an angle, but it's not water that pushes them: it's wind.

      yeah it can be strong wind as well as water if the bend is more to the bottom it’s water wind tent to be half way up

    Makes sense for you to camp the way you do! I have no particular need to be anywhere for a few days from time to time. I would bring provisions and enjoy the rock shingle high ground you are showing. THANKS for the explanation of how floodwaters affect tree growth.

    I havent walked under the dalston train track's bridge in a while lol, and i havent seen the beck or that area that badly flooded before lol.

      I never knew that, and that area sure is a good spot just before you go under the bridge under some tree growth and across the beck was a little spot i and some friends would have fires they were good times, and my mom said when she was little her and my nana and grandad would go mushroom picking around that area and she said they would get loads and make soups.

      like 5 years ago the was a time of like 2 months I could not get close to it this year it’s been like a a week to 3 days it can be higher than this and go down by the next day depending on he rain along the length of the river not just this point

      but then you get the 2 months of summer and it will be so low you don’t need the bridge to get over

    Its amazing how much the River Caldew changes everytime it gets high level. The Wastewater treatment works had to have a new outfall built because it moved away from the old point, now the new one is under threat.

      Rad, for me its proximity....i usually only get one night during the weekend, and having to drive several hours isn't an option...plus, with the flood plains, footprints you may see are always fresh...and i can avoid 2 legged animals!
