Oooh Matrimelee is a great fighter, nice kit pickup. I have emulated all the games on MVS back in 2006 and thats what actually got me interested in emulation as a whole. I understand the point of view against emulation from a purist standpoint, but for me in 2006 it was the best way for me to experience these games. As for my summer pickups the only one was my MVS cabinet that I got a few months back which came with Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug 4 and I was so exited for it I did a quick video about it on my channel! Great pickups! Ganryu (which I never played or even heard of) looks to have a similar aesthetic as a Hagane for the SNES or Psychic Assassin Taromaru for the Saturn. Still waiting for my Japanese Neo Geo AES to arrive. I found out that it's serial number is in the 166k range and the pictures look really clean. I purchased it with a NeoCD Gamepad and a RGC euroSCART packapunch RGB cable. Other things I ordered (some of which arrived) was a RetroGameCave v9 Power Supply (seemed more legit than using a Genesis Model 1 Power brick), a HD-Retrovision Neo Geo adapter for the HD-Retrovision Genesis 1 cable (for playing in Component on my 36" SD CRT), a NeoCD "Jelly Bean" arcade stick (Boxed) and 3 AES carts. I was able to purchase Fatal Fury Special (US), Samurai Showdown 1 (US) and Samurai Spirits II (JPN) for under $150 not including shipping. A modest start, but it gets me playing out the gate with some games I played a lot in the arcades as a kid. Can't wait for all of this to come together! I admire your rule for not emulating games you don't own. Not because its solely a "moral high-ground" thing... but it compels you appreciate a game when you spend hundreds of dollars for it. There is also that sticking point of spending hundreds of dollars on a game you ultimately don't like... but I'm sure that is few and far between because even some of the better games aren't worth what their price tag commands. Control wise I feel it handles similarly to that, good comparison. I finished it last night, late in the game it decides to try and give more platforming challenges. Had it been designed like that throughout this would have been a better game imo.
RotD is great. It’s essentially the sequel to Double Dragon on Neo, they just couldn’t lockdown the licensing in the end. Even still, having Billy and Jimmy and the title that it carried seems close enough. I really like the art style in it, and it’s relatively easy to pickup.

The Neo collecting community is somewhat small (although definitely has grown in the past ten years), and I don’t want sellers or other forum users hassled over a price or certain deal they may have given to me. In some cases, I may have edged out another buyer with an offer, and I just don’t want to have to hear about that. This keeps the source of who I obtained the cart from somewhat anonymous to avoid any hard feelings, others begging sellers for deals, or scrutiny over what I traded or offered for a certain cart. I have no problems sharing where I get games from, but I sometimes try and protect WHO I got them from. Hope that makes sense.
My hot cartridge pickups so far this summer are all AES CIB: 1) Samurai Spirits 2) Samurai Spirits 2 3) The Super Spy (US) 4) World Heroes 2 (US) w/ Big Dog Emblem on Spine I’ve had the NeoSD cart for a few months so I don’t think that counts as a summer pickup.
That’s definitely some healthy summer Neo Geo LiteupX! I used to play Super Spy in the arcade at an old sports bar in Hershey. I’ve played it a few times since grabbing the MVS, but haven’t finished it. It is a looong game.
Scarlet Sprites These my 1st 4 AES carts, my collection is in its infancy. There are many must haves, but my 1st “Holy Grail” cart is Magician Lord, just waiting for the right deal to come along. I’m only interested in CIB purchases. It feels so good to be back in the Neo Geo scene. I sold my original AES gold system way back in ‘93, yea huge mistake lol
Magician Lord won’t be too hard for you to track down. In a best case scenario, you can probably land it for $100, it’s fairly common. Do you like Nam 1975 at all? I always think of Super Spy, Magician Lord, Baseball Stars and Nam as the year one kick-offs for Neo Geo.
Scarlet Sprites Love Nam 75, wife and I enjoy that one a lot. the launch titles I bought back in the day were: Magician Lord Ninja Combat Baseball Stars-came with gold system Sengoku I intend to buy all 4 of those for nostalgia reasons :)

Yeah, York is about 40mins or so from me. In the 90s Live and Fuel were really popular around here, lots of decent small scale shows by bands that’s were very talented. Glad you grabbed the Neo Mini and are enjoying it. That video is intended to be a little tongue in cheek and I think a few people really took it to heart. Glad you’re enjoying the videos and not taking things too seriously, lol.
That can help to preserve the fun factor of getting a “new” game but it’s also risky. I’d also say you shouldn’t punish yourself if you know for a fact you’re never going to buy something but just want to play it.

Nope, no NeoSD here. I switch carts on both the cabinet and CMVS.
