    'Seek out alternative education and seek out mentors' is some of the best pieces of advice I've heard. I hear it time and again from people I respect. I have learned lots from listening to podcasts, watching youtube, reading books etc. We live in a time where it is easier than ever to learn from the world's most interesting people, for that I am very grateful!

      No real need to go to Universities then, just seek alternative education and mentors.

      What you search for and what you listen to should be relative to you, what headings catch your eye. I think it can sometimes be counter-intuitive to copy a successful persons exact route. If you discover things for yourself, it can be more tailored to you. Just like you chose to view this video out of many others, in the same vain choose what podcasts make more sense to your ears.

    Anton hits head right on the nail about the education system. School isnt contructed to teach you how to benefit from information or use knowledge to your advantage, instead it teaches you how to obtain and relay whats already stated. The most valuable knowledge will always come through self education and real life experience. Really inspiring video.

    This guy gives me so much to learn, I'm literally spending all my free time on understanding, questioning and learning from his videos, seeking out advice on other platforms. This stuff is like a goldmine, and it's for free. Jesus, if only I could plug my head into the computer. So much knowledge. Everywhere.

    Sitting here at my room at uni, thinking about why I'm here studying Aeronautical Engineering. I joined because I wanted to be a problem solver...so far the only problem I've had to solve is what content is more valuable to memorise for my exams! This video is a massive wake up call and resonates with me and us all, I need to find a way to get out of this marxist education system because it will not help anyone get to the top if followed meticulously

      @DannyOvox3 5 років тому +17

      Nickdacooldude I went to uni for computer engineering. The curriculum we were taught gave us the tools for critical thinking and evaluation of data. After that is up to you how you make it work in the real world.
      Just like Anton said, the real education starts once you leave school, but careers such as engineering give you the basic tools that help you analyze the outside education.

    Couldn’t agree more.
    I have a bachelors in politics and master in international politics. I am yet to use in real life what I have ‘learned’ in uni. I feel so scammed by unis, I still haven’t collected my master’s diploma.
    Since graduating, I have watched plenty of videos/podcasts, and a read a few books on personal development and personal finance, and I feel like I have learned more about real world from these few books than my four years at university. I have also completed courses in digital marketing, excels and am currently learning HTML/CSS. Had I known what I know now about university, I’d have never opted for it.
    Can you imagine? Unis don’t teach you basic excel course, a software used across the globe, and they have the audacity to advertise themselves as the gateway to practical skills for jobs!

    • @SkyDread

      I feel you, I have a software engineer degree, and I learned more about money and software in 1 year of work than my 5 years at school. I feel cheated and lost time to build wealth which is the most valuable thing we have.

    I find it hard to like Anton, having myself spent many years working in investment banking, but there are many things he says that I completely agree with and have independently drawn the same conclusions myself. He is smart and his observations are valuable.

    Anton is mentoring and educating so many people, young people, all around the world. I feel like just by watching these videos of him and listening to him speak, I've developed a sort of mentor-protégé relationship with him. He's such an amazing dude. Cheers!

  • @slippingjimmy2897

    This was an excellent observation.
    Not to put it too bluntly, but most of the advice you get in life is from well meaning people that haven't got a clue.
    When I was choosing my a levels my dad was on at me to take the sciences. He'd worked for ICI and this was his frame of reference.
    I hated those subjects apart from the maths.
    Nobody knows what's best for you better than you do yourself.
    I've just discovered Anton and like what he's got to say. Just wonder though, how many pints it take a for that Scouse accent to start getting stronger!!!

    From my observations the idea "only you really know what is good for you" is not shown by evidence in our world , look at the crazy decisions people make. I would say a better decision making process ,for most people, is to do the opposite of what they think is good for them. I am splitting hares. Nice guy. Good video. Good luck to him.

    I love ya Anton, but when i go to seek out alternative education like going through a third party such as yourself, but your courses are 1400$ for a month's worth of access to one level of the course. Its extremely hard to be able to weigh the value of the class education factor when its up against a 1400$ expense. (a car, rent for two months, etc.)

    • @Pursuitofbalance
      @Pursuitofbalance 6 років тому +1

      but if you think about it like this; the expense for traditional college at a university, the price of his website is not that much compared to that, not even is a long shot. just food for thought

    That's why formal education is really a waste of time. I always remember my geography teacher at school DRILLING into us we need our geography GCSE like it's integral to our future and we cannot be successful without passing/acing these exams. Formal education is being devalued more and more as good qualifications even at degree level are no longer a sufficient differentiation in today's society. They have little to no baring on whether you will become successful or not. The only positive people can glean from your ability to retain and comprehend knowledge is your drive and determination to succeed which ultimately can be channelled in to far more productive/profitable things once you leave formal education.

    I have found that even when you come from a business based household, still, the understanding is not there to create your infrastructure, rather, these business people are mere employees within their own businesses which is shocking, truth be told.
    Businesses are like your kids, at some stage you'll have to let it go, not be a part of it forever...let it go, leverage and build, move across asset classes to explore other options etc etc.
    School, University etc is only suitable if one aspires to be a doctor, dentist or other highly highly academic and professional endeavours....and then these guys get destroyed by tax system so what's the point.
    If you don't make smart moves, educate yourself and constantly seek change to better yourself then you will be finished.
