je suis propriétaire d'un LX V6 AWD, et je peux vous dire que leur nouveau système Dynamax AWD, travail très bien et peux se placer comme un des très bon système AWD sur le marché, chapeau à Kia!!!
I wanted cx9 til I watch it fail this test miserably. Im planning on towing light boat and some pop up trailers with new suv. Sorento seems much better choice!
I can't find similar test for the 2011-13 sorento. Does anybody know if it's system would perform similarly? (I believe so since the 2006-up sportage alerady had the brake-lock diff (sorta) system)
I watch almost all of your diagonal tests. I am wondering if you could do the same test on latest toyota highlander awd? I saw one of your test for honda pilot on steep snowy hill, it would be great if you can take highlander to the same place. thanks and keep it up!!
Newer dynamax are impressive !!! You dont need a jeep anymore loll would like to see the same test with is little brother the 2018 Sportage !! I guess they use the same syteme and will perform the same .. beau travaille car question jadore vos videos
+CarQuestion Both 2015 and 2016 have dynamax awd so are there various versions of Dynamax? Considering this system only went in to production in 2013 I find it hard to believe that it was already updated or modified. Do you have any concrete info on the changes to that system? thanks.
+Robert Duklus Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) has been added to Dynamax which is a type of Torque Vectoring system that redirects torque during cornering maneuvers. Other than this, it is the same system used in the 14MY/15MY Sorento (facelift). The Sorento AWD before 14MY used an electromagnet to couple the clutch packs whereas the 14MY and after use a better electrohydraulic method to couple the clutch packs. For your other question,my rep at kia said to me: 2. Sorento is built on a different platform than the Santa Fe XL. Not too sure of the details of Hyundai’s AWD system - they may have used a different system than the Kia Sorento.
Hey Car Question... would you say this diagonal AWD test would be comparable to a real world test of driving up a hill in snowy conditions? Asking because I am in the market for a 3 row AWD/4WD vehicle and I live on a hill... tired of having to park my car downhill and having to walk uphill during winter. And I have used anow or studded winter tires as well.
Hola me gustaría ver el diagonal test del mitsubishi outlander phev. A pesar de ser una prueba sencilla, da una buena idea de la capacidad off road. Gracias.
I heard that the Santa Fe XL 2018 had the same brand of AWD than Kia Sorento, "Magna Dynamax" I heard than Hyundai add this system but I don't know since what year and if it works as well like Kia Sorento. Any comments about this?
Hello Friend nice vídeo, i have a doubt , hope you can give me a idea. I have a sorento 2011 , AWD is an automatic function or its activated by the lock buttom ?
Allan Urbina it can send power to all 4 wheels without the button, but the button locks the output so you can ensure that the car is splitting the power between all 4 as best it can. Otherwise it will be in 2wd until a wheel loses traction
So what is exactly happening to the awd system when it is manually put into Lock Mode. I see the brake lights pulsating so I'm assuming it is trying to lock the tires that are spinning?
+rotaxrider the pulsating light are a led/camera effect, no braking is applyed. when you lock, the power is 50/50 front to rear. and this year : advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) has been added to Dynamax which is a type of Torque Vectoring system that redirects torque during cornering maneuvers.
+rotaxrider : The Dynamax system is not illuminates the brake lights when it blocks the wheels spinning. And the system works so since it was launched not only from this model, as you might believe.
Please do test with an Subaru vehicles, primary the Subaru Forester and Subaru Outback. I think there is a lot of controversy about how good the AWD system is. There are people who praise subarus but i am not sure if it is all true.
+bigfoot6433 effectivement! pourquoi est ce si difficile de voir les subaru, ,surtout qu'ils sont réputé pour leur systeme awd.. j'aimerais une fois de plus voir la forester avec le x mode!! encore une fois merci!!:)
+bigfoot6433 Just watch my videos with Outback and Forester... you will find with your eyes what people talks. Subaru is one of the best systems ever. It's about all the engineering of the car, how is the engine mounted, axles, etc.. that brings power and traction smoothly all the time. There's no steering uncontrolled torque like in some other SUV, it's a system that can handle good amount of traction in the rear wheels, not like Honda for example and there's no brand that use the same type of differentials.. Haldex, Torsen, they all have some lacks you won't find with Subaru. But ok, to do this test you will need a good traction control. A Honda with a good traction control will pass this, so at the end every system can work "as good,as you need" depending of road conditions, where do you normally go and how capable can be traction control. If you see the new Santa Fe, which is from the same family of this Kia, you will see it didn't make it.
+Baltazar Campos Nieto ah, but you see there always a con when there is a pro. In other words, every system has some kind of disadvantage. I own a 2016 forester 2.5i for about 4 months. So I think I have enough knowledge about my particular vehicle. The car feels unexpectedly jerky with the CVT. Another Disadvantage of this car is that the CVT is not shift-able (well not the 2.5i) Which means that if I had to accelerate quickly, I can't. It takes about 2 seconds for it to accelerate. Not even joking. Theres been a few times where I tried to pass a yellow light. (pressed on the gas and nothing) Many other members from the forum has also pointed out. Also many people also suggest putting in a thicker rear sway bar. Which I agree (as this car rolls quite a bit in the corners). And also if you are on the freeway going about 70 mph. Making micro corrections will feel like the car is leaning a whole lot. Again a thicker sway bar would help a lot. While yes this system can be better the Haldex, and the Torsen system. I feel that they can be equally as good in most situations. I feel that they are better in the snow for there selectable terrain system. The Forester doesnt have any options for this. Its either VDC off or X-Mode on. Theres no snow mode, gravel mode or eco mode. Another Really big issue that I encountered was the Subaru AD about the foresters AWD system. The one where the forester does up a wet ramp. I that case its almost all due to the tires. In this case if a 4WD locked system cannot make it up wet ramp, neither would the subaru. (if they had the same tires). In most cases a good set of tires would help. But the 2.5i forester here in the US get the Yokohama G91F. Which is pretty terrible for snow and winter stuff. But on the good side the VDC doesn't cut out power when I need the traction. And Also i found on that for the best results you don't even need X-Mode. Also long as you don't mash the pedal and keep the RPMs at around 2200 the car will decide which wheel gets more power. I have tried with it on and off. Same result but I think X-Mode is a fraction of a second faster. (Better than not getting up the slope at all, aka my friends 2014 rav 4) Another thing that I have a problem with is the MPG rating. People on the forum told me that their trip computer is a little optimistic on the MPG Figure. And I found it pretty true. With the CVT the was rated at 24 city and 32 highway. I do mixed driving on city and highway about 40% city and 60% highway. I should get at least 28 mpg but my trip computer tells I did 31 MPG. But After the real calculations at the pump it shows I actually got 26 mpg overall. And I am not even a aggressive driver. More like a grandma driver. But, After all that said, this is not a bad car, it is much better than its competitors.
Well, I can say that every market equip car with different brand of tyres, and it can also give a totally different opinion of a car. The Forester with CVT (some 2.5 they have tiptronic) it can be a point to analyse. In general CVT takes time to learn and know how they work, Subaru CVT transmission on my opinion gives better feeling than other CVT that it really make you the trans is constantly spinning, but still a CVT. AWD in Subaru you can not select "snow" - "mud" etc... but is there any other SUV in the segment it does?. When I say before is probably the best AWD, I mean in its segment, because there's other cars where you select a terrain, but then it's not a "medium size" SUV (with bad and good things), but if you pick all the options in the market today that has AWD and no much button, Subaru is on the top of the list. And what you experienced about the computer and mpg, I think every car has a really optimistic computer! :D... I rather trust on them I use calculator when I fill up again. An ECO mode in the transmission won't make any difference on the AWD system ;) Anyway, as e both agree... every AWD car has pros and cons, but I think people who believe that "Symmetrical AWD" is just marketing, they should drive and experience Subaru some days, and will find probably why. If you see this videos here, doing a diagonal test on asphalt, with dry conditions, you can only test is traction control as there's no obstacle to test how power is transferred to the other axle or many other things that in a real life, off road situation, the car may have to cross in a "diagonal test" (rocks, mud, irregular surface, grit, etc) so then you can really feel and see what good or not. People say Honda system it sucks, it can not transfer power (and Honda, in one video confessed is how was designed the system) but here in UA-cam you can find a video of a diagonal test of a Honda CR-V with VSA of and on, and it pass good with VSA on, but does it mean is a good system? or you will say is the same as Subaru because both pass the diagonal test? To give a fair opinion, you really have to drive the car, and see it and feel it in every situation.
CarQuestion that probably won't make a difference but I just want to see how would the brake controlled automatic LSD on the tacoma fare against this crossovers.
Another thing the long vehicle you got the worse to fail the test if you test the same test with small SUV with good traction control and the right tires I am sure they will past
