Back in the mid 90's, I had a black cat that had gone missing for about a week. I was devastated 😢. One day, I was walking down my quiet street, suddenly, I heard meowing, and then a little black dot bolting towards me.....my boy literally leaped into my arms❤❤. I've had few cats since then, but I'll never forget that day, and the bond shared with my first cat, Pandy❤.
I had a black cat named fish about 10 years ago, the same thing happened to me with her. You’re kitty lived a second life at least.
My gradma went to Singapore for a vacation she stayed there for a week my aunt told us that everyday her dog would just sit at the roadside everyday waiting for my grandma and when she finally came back she was so happy and excited, so for a couple of days she would just follow my grandma everywhere afraid of being left behind again 💖💖
About 25 years ago there was a study that concluded cats have a long term memory of 2-3 weeks. Of course cat owners will know thats bunk. Unfortunately that study trickled into mainstream and "cats only remember things for 2-3 weeks" permeated thru comments-as-facts. Fortunately another study just a few years ago, concluded cats, like humans can retain memories for most of their life.
Sad..... I have one year little kitty Princess. Its tabby. I found her in my garden. Firstly its Was really hungry and sad. Now is happy, cute..... Its is sleeping in my house. I love her.. I need her every morning see......

Once I was away from my cat for two weeks I honestly thought he wouldn't care much . Cats aren't that loyal I said .. but he really surprised me how much he was hugging and clinging to me that was one of my happiest moments in my life...
The problem is people judge cats by dogs. Cats have a very different body language to dogs.
My cats are quite old now and I believe my boy Till has dementia but every time I am back home at my parents house they sit on my bed and stay in my room

I thought what if I tried acting super happy like these animals every time my crush came in to work maybe she would stop acting like she is about to cry 24/7 but it didn't work to well she might laugh for 30 seconds but then go back to being super scared/sad again and no befor you ask I never got her to date me :(
edit: unfortunately the opposite of this video is true. The girl had a bird that remembered the abuse it went through and so it hated men. unfortunately the previous owner would come over to her house (she lived with her parents) and the bird would freak if he saw the previous guy. Also turns out him and the girls step dad where um bad people hens her looking like she was going to cry 24/7.

No matter how much my cat loved me, everytime I came back home after being gone for a while, he always acted like I was invisible and pretended to not recognize me. 🤣 Then on the second or third day, while watching TV, he came to me like "Mommy, I missed you" and jumped on my belly and asked for cuddles. 😂 But I know he had separation anxiety because everytime I left, my mom told me how much he scratched at my door and cried in the whole house especially during the night and it drove them crazy. 😭💔
It's not about 'owner or master', it's about friendship, a real bond with those animals.
My ginger cat always yelled at me whenever I came home later than usual, be it even an hour. Staying overnight at a friend's always earned me an earful and mum sometimes called me with him crying in the background.

Someone who says that cats rarely show affection has never bonded with a cat before. I can't even sleep without them rubbing themselves all over me to wake me up for petting time.

Yeah, companionship with a cat is quite different from with a dog, cats typically are your companion on their own terms. When they want something they will let you know, and when they want to be left alone they will let you know as well.
Cats just show affection a bit differently! I’ve got a cat too and he is so affectionate, he just shows it a little differently from my dogs. Nevertheless, he loves being held and when he is, he allows belly rubs!

My cats snuck out once. We put up fliers real fast. One was found out back by the dumpster crying about 20 mins later. Big softy. The other figured out how to use an elevator and was found 3 floors up. Some nice man put him in an empty apartment and then called us. That cat thought it was all fun and games.
My horse hadn't seen me for 10 years, the reception was enough to make me cry. The person leasing her asked what she was doing and I explained that she was going through all our secret little rituals we had developed to give and get affection.
Cats never forget their owners, at least the ones that were nice to them. They can accept new owners as they need shelter and food, but they will always remember old owner.
Precious. When I was hospitalized for a week my cats acted like they thought they'd never see me again & I was showered with more affection than I could handle.
And remember that for animals their lifetime is shorter so time goes by differently for them. If you ignore your, dog for instance, for a day or two it feels like a week for them. Love them like they love you. They deserve it. Far more than people usually do.
this reminds me of my 2 cats that I dont have today. They would always greet me at the door going all crazy and end with a headbutt as a way to say hello. I miss them everyday.

@mimsy - Yes, I second that motion 👏 I heard a Ukrainian man on the radio the other day who said that he has 7 cats!!! And there's not much food around in Kyiv any more. I'm trying to find an organisation here in Melbourne, Australia that is collecting tinned food for the Ukraine, including pet food. If we all bought just 1 box of food we could help them so much.

My cat, Missy has a habit thus: I go away for a week to visit friends overseas, come home and for the first half an hour she looks at me and goes "Oh, it's you...you abandoned me, hmph."... then half an hour later "Meow meow meow give me attention hooman meow" :D.

You may think this is funny but that "attitude" your cat gives you might very likely be a severe stress symptom. My wife and I took in a cat with severe anxiety and PTSD. She showed similar behavior when we first took her into our home. Cats, like most animals, can dissociate when they're emotionally too stressed to handle whatever situation they're currently in. If your cat doesn't really acknowledge you when you come home, but then turns around and showers you with affection half an hour later, it's possible she detached herself from her bond with you while you were gone because her mind just didn't find another way to handle the pain of the loss and she needs a minute to even understand that you're back. You're her owner. You know her best. But if this behavior persists every time you leave for a while, I advise you to try consulting an animal psychologist, because the way you described her behavior sounds like alarm bells to me.

As I also care for my mum as well as Missy, I think she worries more for my mum to be honest :)
yup, that’s a cat. especially the ignoring part. when i was 3 or 4 i did the same thing to my mother, but i don’t remember. :)
I once left for a trip for about two monthes. When I came back, my cat wouldn't leave me alone ALL DAY! XD

The old dog walking to his hooman broke me.
My smart great Dane opened the gate and got out, after 3 days of searching everywhere, I dropped my son off at school, and my other pooch was with me, I saw a big black dog cross the street-I was like. it had to be her, mu Molly. As we came near her and I rolled the window down and called her, my pooch Bosco knew it was her, and jumped out 🐶🐶❤❤❤❤
She got right in the front and gave me the Best kisses Ever 🥰🥰🥰 Bosco was so happy to have his girl home❣❣❣

Awesome!! My Meghan kitty would yell at me when I came home after a few days away and there was nothing to do but lay on the couch and let her go to sleep on me, that was the only way to calm her. I miss my girl so much.❤️

I've had five cats over several years and everyone has shown affection, multiple times a day. It is not true that cats rarely show affection.
Most affectionate cat I've known is my aunt's - she's like 8 months now, hardly ever leaves her side, loves to be carried/held, and sleeps on her face every night lmao. A weird one too, absolutely loves water, she sits in the sink if it's on or dripping and yells until someone runs her a bath every morning

That's the great thing about pets. They love you no matter what.
I used to think cats weren't loyal until meeting my current (previously stray) cat. When the woman brought him to our place and left, he rushed to the window and was watching her as she was crossing the yard towards her car. He was clearly depressed for several days as well, cried at night and was scared when we left for work. Now he has gained trust and is happy, purring more often than he used to. Still obviously cares if someone is absent for work for the whole day. I love this lad so much.

I smiled and cried. (I also had a quick moment of anger. As I watched, I thought of the animals that are mistreated by people...seeing these welcomes from many different species and in some cases, weeks/months since they saw their human, it angers me that people can harm or abandon them. They feel so deeply!!! They deserve so much better!! And they greetings were so beautiful!!)

When I used to close the store and arrive home after 10 every night, my Stinky Vinky would be sticking his lil orange and white head up under the curtain to look for me outside and if I took too long getting inside he would meow at me from the window and was always there when I got the door open. Sure, I had to feed him when I got home, but he didn't do that for my mom and sister and equally expected food from them. He was Mommy's baby boy for 14 years. Love my babies

Reminds me of a dog we had named Angel who was a Alaskan malamute but my dad would come home off the road ever month or so and angel would go mental and squeal like a pig lol watching these videos makes me miss that crazy dog alot
I’ll never forget seeing my ex’s miniature dachshund after 2 years. We bonded very well when together which is special because he doesn’t like everybody. That little dog went absolutely bananas when I called out his name and he realized who I was. I still miss that little feller.
