Mighty Mouse wanted it as well, he and the ufc were having issues. He was not getting the push and publicity he wanted from the ufc and felt he wasn’t being promoted enough. He was also getting paid extremely well, but was not making the 500-800k per fight contract a lot of the other champs had at the time. Obviously the top guys and champs get paid a bit more than that now not including PPV bonuses. He wanted to eventually leave and find new challenges.

There’s like 700 fighters on contract with the UFC, then there’s personnel and other employees. The UFC makes a lot money but not enough to give all fighters six figure salaries on top of other employee salaries as well and I’m not sure it’s known how many employees (non-fighters) the UFC has. Plus they currently don’t even have a TV deal like they used to with fox, which I’m sure is a big loss in revenue and income for them as well. Boxers make a lot of money because of companies sponsoring the event, the tv deal or ppv deal (showtime) and other sources. There’s way more to it than you think

DJ conquered the Flyweight division in North America, like that guy is on a whole other level! Hell even Henry Cejudo had to fight smart and out point him by just taking him dowm and holding him down before the round end to secure the round and beat him
