This was my very first digital camera, I bought it from Walmart with my own money for $20 :) they used to sell them in the area by the checkouts. No idea where it is today after so many moves, but I still have some of the original photos.
These were everywhere back in the early 2000s. I swear every bin of random old cables & misc I see at a garage sale has one of these (under various brand names). I do know they were sold well before 2008, since a friend got one for Christmas, and I still have the awful photos taken that New Year's. Some were even in the low res format (176x144).
As bad as the "high res" images were, I didn't see much point in demonstrating the low res format! The issue with the higher res version is that it took 3 file dumps of the 16Mb memory to get enough images and vid clips to make this review worthwhile. And digging into the software, yes, this seems to be a later repackaging of an earlier product. The "My Camera" software says Version 2.03 Copyright 2003. The ArcSoft Photo Impressions 4 image editing software says Copyright 2001.
Can you tell me what type of USB cable it is using? I found my mini Digi Cam but I cannot find the connecting usb cord & I do not know what size it is. I love your vid, thank you very much!
Yea good info. I got the same as a goof its been sitting in a draw for like forever. When I finally wanted to use I can find the USB cable that came with it....Agggg
@@suitz_0d Yes here is a guide I made: hbexplorations.blogspot.com/2025/01/vivitar-mini-digital-camera-guide-2025.html with links to all the drivers and how to set it up on PC
The camera needs the Dual-Mode camera driver and it's included in the MyDSC2 software. This works for me: drive.google.com/file/d/1JR0xS56QAugNlO74y0Ij2atXyhEO7YwH/view?usp=share_link
I actually used to have one of those when I was a kid, unfortunately it locked up on me and I cannot get it to turn on anymore. I don't remember the quality being very good but it was cool having my own digital camera when all I had ever used were analog film cameras.
Pretty Bad is an understatement. I would say this camera is VERY bad!... The only reason it caught my eye was that it was New Old Stock sealed in a blister pack. Thank you for the comment, and Stay Thrifty Indeed!
Thanks. Found this among my electronics. No cable or directions, Don't remember anything about it, except it didn't work - even With new battery. Another video noted this worked on Ubuntu. Worse, makes me feel old, not remembering. =\ cheers!
For those looking for drivers / App. What works for me is "MyDSC2" the driver is included in that program. I've uploaded it to my Google drive: drive.google.com/file/d/1JR0xS56QAugNlO74y0Ij2atXyhEO7YwH/view?usp=share_link Hope this helps!

I recently found one in the spare room at home but under the name Innovage. Looks identical. I actually like the outcome of the photos for what it is.
I think people expecting to much from this.

I got one at Walmart for that same price - about $5 but its marked as Phillips not vivitar
Hi, is it possible to upload those drivers? I found an old one I used to own and would like to see if I have any photos on it.

i was expecting WAY less then 16mb
edit: lowercase "b" so probably megabit. If so, its 2 megabytes.
Lmfao the video reminds me of those old videos on UA-cam about ghosts or Bigfoot lol so maybe it’s great for those cryptic videos
