I think the key here is the stands, independent from their users. Jotaro is clever, and quick-thinking, and employs Star Platinum very well. But without that direction: the Stand itself is actually very limited. King Crimson meanwhile has a much broader class of abilities, but a moderately less clever user which makes it more vulnerable.
It's durability is also shit. When it was a stat, that was its lowest one. Mostly because it's powerful ability is balanced out by, "If you CAN hit it, it is fragile"

I've had this discussion with my brothers. Basically, it comes down to, when does Diavolo Skip time. And if he gives Jotaro a chance, Jotaro stopping time would likely cancel future sight. He might see himself fine and all of the sudden he's been beaten all to shit

I definitely think DIO's nature as a vampire helps with his time stop limit, since we don't know how stuff like oxygen intake works within the world of frozen time. But even if it is just holding your breath, I definitely agree that Jotaro could train to go past his former 5 seconds record. I think he just didn't because, as a grumpy, prideful guy that would rather be rudely honest rather than cheat, that he wouldn't use Time Stop to further his bio marine research.
As cool as that would be for jotaro to just be straight training every day of his life and being one of the best stand users an hour is too much considering dio (a person with basically the same stand as jotaro that being the world) had a lot of training but could only push it to ten seconds and dio being practically immortal and healing from impossible wounds could only push it that far! But other than that it’s be funny if just during the fight he’s like ight I need a break and just freezes it for that long

I think what sells King Crimson for me is he doesn't need a Stand Punch Rush. He threw a pair of scissors so hard it severed someone's ankle, with sheer brute force.

In a 1v1 KC is inferior due to the stands weak durability, and because it can’t damage people in the skip. This means that he’s got to time his attacks for when the skip resumes, meaning stands with really fast reaction times might be able to react (like SP). SP, meanwhile, can attack people in timestop, and thus can’t be reacted to. Whoever activates their ability first has an advantage, but if jotaro does then he automatically wins, and the same isn’t 100% true for diavolo.

The biggest advantage King Crimson has over Star Platinum is Epitaph’s clairvoyance. since time skip is basically just a weaker version of time stop(you can’t interact with things inside skipped time). So whoever activates their time powers first wins, except Diavolo can predict when it happens, so he’ll always be able to do so. Also, i’m pretty sure time stop itself doesn’t have a set range, the stands themselves do, he calculates the amount of time it takes to reach Kira before it runs out. Time stop speeds Jotaro up. Since Dio’s The World was able to presumably pick up a steamroller from a nearby construction site(different stand stats + age, i guess).

There is an amazing animator called hyorinjutsu that does the best animated what ifs I've ever seen. He mostly focuses in dragon ball however he has done a fight between jotaro and King crimson, with king erasing the moment jotaro stops time Which can and probably would've happened had they fought
Actually since we can clearly see from not only states from a curatoriyama the facts in the series and direct statements in the manga that the speed of star platinum being literally two steps behind Infinity cut out speed the ability of time skip itself and also is near city level and King crimson's power is small building level which means that start platinum utterly defeats King crimson and every single way of imaginable
My personal issue with this is that Star Platinum is THE physically strongest stand, he has the same if not better feats of speed then King Crimson, and assuming he didn't just stop time for his max time, he can instantly stop time, meaning he can't get jumped by KC because unlike WS, KC won't be having enough prep time and experience with Jotaro to know his exact moves, Jotaro wipes.

I don’t think that this is all quite fair, for clips you use, sheer heart attack is literally indestructible and was only stopped when koichi was going to get Kira found out, there is also no way crazy diamond is ever going to beat him when they first meet he easily brushes him of using stopped time, and white snake and manhattan transfer double teamed him while he was trying to protect Jolene this same problem of Jotaro trying to protect Jolene and lose because of it is the whole reason why Pucci was able to pull of made in heaven. Also Jotaro can attack in stopped time while king crimson cannot, even epitaphs ability wouldn’t help him cause he wouldn’t see the stopped time. I AM not convinced . King Crimson just Dodges time , while jotaro stops it completly . His other ability is seeing into the future but it doesnt matter as i believe he won't be able to predict stoped time . Activation in miliseconds is a bullshit argument as almost every stand exceeds speed of miliseconds .If jotaro Had the Main character BUFF ,he definitely kills the Boss as he just Has to stop the time as King Crimson comes back into reality, however it very much boils down to reaction speed and awarness , but i believe that jotaro would instantly stop time as soon as he feels confused with him being in a diffrent location and position . Yeah nah. Jotaro murder stomps Diavolo, and his stand is much better too. Jotaros stand is not only faster, but stronger. Diavolos time erase is only useful because of how fast and strong his stand is, it allows him to catch people off guard and smoke them in one blow, which wont be happening to jotaro. The second diavolo tries it, Jotaro is going to react, and beat the fuck out of him (if jotaro wanted to he could EASILY donut him the same way diavolo donuts others). If jotaro ever feels the need he can just timestop and the fights over because diavolos reaction speeds arent on the same level, and jotaro can HIT PEOPLE IN TIMESTOP UNLIKE Diavolos Time Erase. This is all talking about Jotaro during his peak which is during the end of the dio fight. That Jotaro smokes Diavolo with little to no difficulty, and he negs him with 0 difficulty if hes bloodlusted. See unlike Giorno and the his squad, Jotaro isnt out for blood. If jotaro wished it, the entirety of part 3 would be a bloody mess because jotaro is holding back so much throughout the entire part. Reaction time doesn't matter when you see 10 seconds in the future. If diavolo gets hit it's over but he has to get hit. And timestop likely doesn't work either since it takes no time epitaph would see diavolo fuckin dying and he could skip time past it

Big thing is that the stats are way different. Star platinum has been specifically shown to be able to automatically defend Jotaro, so while he might be caught off guard, he won’t be insta-donutted. Secondly, assuming this is part 3 Jotaro right off the DIO fight (Jotaro at his physical peak), he has an A in durability. King Crimson has an E. A fucking E. In the part 6 stand page for Star Platinum, a point where he is PHYSICALLY WEAKER than in part 3 and after the production of part 5, Star Platinum is stated to be physically the strongest stand in the world. Diavolo can’t attack during erased time, only after. That’s how fate works for his ability. On the other hand, Jotaro can, and has even previously popped DIO, a vampire, through his skull. I see the fight going like this: Diavolo skips time, tries a donut, Star platinum blocks, and Jotaro stops time. At that point, it’s done. Star Platinum simply has too much durability and attack power for king crimson to handle, let alone his ability of stopping time.
I will always love the concept of how diavolo got defeated, as in the requiem was, in fact, exactly what giorno needed at that moment, to stop diavolo from reaching his goal, basically the opposite of king crimson. I think this battle is certainly interesting and weird. I've heard sides saying Jotaro would stomp. Although it is possible the ability is annoying enough to deal with that it would be hard especially judging how you might think it would interact with Time-stop or if it even would or if both abilities would always be separate?
Honestly in a fight though I think it would probably come down to who activates their stand first. One thing to keep in mind is that even though their powers work differently, from the victims perspective it's almost the same.
Just to place my two cents to this, but this is mainly a fight where it’s mainly dependent on who learns about who first. Since King Crimson cant effect a Time Stop since time isn’t moving and the Star Platinum most likely can’t hit King Crimson within the erased time. Which will probably lead to a lot of open space where neither of them can hit each other. Since it really takes one hit for the other to kill each other since the main reason Star Platinum doesn’t cave in everyone’s skulls like he did DIO’s is because he’s holding back. And I don’t think Ephitet could be able to see into Frozen Time and just see what happens afterwards. Where King Crimson most likely wouldn’t even exist in the Frozen Time since he’d have already skipped it. Of course these issues don’t happen if one of them mistimes their Time abilities. More of a QuickDraw situation since whoever uses their ability first to end the fight wins. Personally I bet on Jotaro, dude is a tank and has a lot of experience battling weird stands. So, if anyone were to figure out King Crimson before dying, it’d be Jotaro. Since this would be his third time dealing with a Time Based stand.
One of the most important distinctions to be made about this fight is that King Crimson cannot interact with others during his time skip, if he could he would just donut people during it instead of right when it ends. This means that he cannot get an insta win using time skip, he would have to time skip to an advantageous position and then attack with a blitz, a blitz that is absolutely slower than anything star platinum could react to. In all honesty jotaro’s time stop would almost certainly neg king crimson as, if diavolo isn’t actively erasing time, that is a guaranteed win. And even if he erases the time he has no possible way to prevent getting caught in a time stop right after a time skip. This battle is definitely an interesting and challenging fight but not a loss at all for jotaro, when they say he has the strongest stand, they mean it with very few exceptions.
What many people fail to grasp is King Crimson is a stand that takes advantage of a loophole. Diavolo has a split personality, and in the Jojo story that’s described as ‘two souls inhabiting one body’ a stand is a manifestation of your soul used for combat (or sometimes other purposes) King Crimson is so powerful because his ability to time skip and ability to see the future are supposed to be 2 abilities for 2 entirely different stands, but have instead manifested as one stand with the capability to use both powers in tandem
One of the main reasons why king crimson was so strong was because of epitaph, without it he would just be randomly time skipping without knowing he himself what would happen at the end of it.
king crimson can actually interact with people during erased time, only really use it to get past their moves and set himself up but jotaro can just activate the world after he does and its done cause theyre both close range stands, and if its part 3 jotaro its over

Yeah no Time Stop is easily the better ability as you cannot erase stopped time but it is possible that Jotaro will stop time while it is "erased" which could break him out.
I think the bigger problem is IT'S actually possible to fight back against KC attacks if you are fast enough. In stop time you are completely defenseless.
also, if King Crimson would've done something in the time skipped, it will have happened, even despite Diavolo's intangibility during that period, so if Epitaph shows him trading killing blows with someone, he can skip that, and he'll take no damage, but his opponent will still drop dead.
If the users are close to each other I believe whoever uses their ability first will win. But at a distance King crimson has the advantage as it erases ten seconds of time, meaning the user will get closer and star platinum time stop won't work nearly as effectively as it would in close range.
That fight literally comes to timing. The only thing is that star plat is also said to have near limitless speed while king crimson is slightly above average. And it can’t attack during the timeskip unlike star plat
Something I really like when it comes to King Crimson is how Diavolo uses it. When he’s alone with another stand user he’s basically untouchable thanks to the fact he can simply look into the future, avoid whatever attack you’ll try on him, then position himself to counterattack. When he’s with multiple stand users, he’s still very dangerous but now Diavolo will be damn sure to be on his toes to make sure he can get what he wants. Think Diavolo vs Bucciarati and then Diavolo vs Giorno and Co. from the moment he showed up at the Colosseum trying to get that arrow.
(in my current understanding) whatever jotaro does in T.Skip is outside of time and can't be affected by diavolo's T.Skip, so I'd say it'd be a much closer matchup: "ah breh my arm got chopped off" * T. Stop "gg"

These points are good my only problem is that Diavolo or king crimson can’t physically hurt someone while they use the ability and if the ability is easily recognized like the episode it was revealed it can be somewhat countered if your… y’know smart like Bucciratti. While Jotaro’s star platinum in time stop can physically hurt someone and throw objects obviously you can make same point with counters of it’s recognized part but the thing is jotaro could get his hits and make space.

It sees 10 seconds in to the future • they do realize ten seconds skip in the episode it first appears in both giorno and buccirati realize what going on of course the other don’t notice but that because they’re doing other stuff while buccirati is seeing it and giorno noticing weird occurrences.
I still think jotaro wind due to his speed demonstration against infinite speed pucci in part 6 making him speed blitz diabolo, if we are talking peek of each character, not to mention jotaros durability is amazing meaning even if diabolo got to Skipp time it's no100% going to kill jotaro
If both are going no hold back straight for the kill, then it’s simply whoever can activate their ability first, unless they have prior knowledge of their abilities, which I don’t think they would. Hell, even if king crimson activated, if jotaro has a fast enough reaction time then he may be able to activate time stop right after. The issue is with how king crimson works, if jotaro did a time stop during the fated 10 seconds of king crimson’s “skip” then nothing would happen because Diavolo is except from that fate and jotaro would just run out of energy. The biggest mistake of Jotaro was not training with Time Stop until the events of part 4, if he kept training he may have actually gotten to an hour
I definitely think DIO's nature as a vampire helps with his time stop limit, since we don't know how stuff like oxygen intake works within the world of frozen time. But even if it is just holding your breath, I definitely agree that Jotaro could train to go past his former 5 seconds record. I think he just didn't because, as a grumpy, prideful guy that would rather be rudely honest rather than cheat, that he wouldn't use Time Stop to further his bio marine research.
As cool as that would be for jotaro to just be straight training every day of his life and being one of the best stand users an hour is too much considering dio (a person with basically the same stand as jotaro that being the world) had a lot of training but could only push it to ten seconds and dio being practically immortal and healing from impossible wounds could only push it that far! But other than that it’s be funny if just during the fight he’s like ight I need a break and just freezes it for that long

In a 1v1 KC is inferior due to the stands weak durability, and because it can’t damage people in the skip. This means that he’s got to time his attacks for when the skip resumes, meaning stands with really fast reaction times might be able to react (like SP). SP, meanwhile, can attack people in timestop, and thus can’t be reacted to. Whoever activates their ability first has an advantage, but if jotaro does then he automatically wins, and the same isn’t 100% true for diavolo.

My personal issue with this is that Star Platinum is THE physically strongest stand, he has the same if not better feats of speed then King Crimson, and assuming he didn't just stop time for his max time, he can instantly stop time, meaning he can't get jumped by KC because unlike WS, KC won't be having enough prep time and experience with Jotaro to know his exact moves, Jotaro wipes.

I don’t think that this is all quite fair, for clips you use, sheer heart attack is literally indestructible and was only stopped when koichi was going to get Kira found out, there is also no way crazy diamond is ever going to beat him when they first meet he easily brushes him of using stopped time, and white snake and manhattan transfer double teamed him while he was trying to protect Jolene this same problem of Jotaro trying to protect Jolene and lose because of it is the whole reason why Pucci was able to pull of made in heaven. I AM not convinced . King Crimson just Dodges time , while jotaro stops it completly . His other ability is seeing into the future but it doesnt matter as i believe he won't be able to predict stoped time . Yeah nah. Jotaro murder stomps Diavolo, and his stand is much better too. Jotaros stand is not only faster, but stronger. Diavolos time erase is only useful because of how fast and strong his stand is, it allows him to catch people off guard and smoke them in one blow, which wont be happening to jotaro. The second diavolo tries it, Jotaro is going to react, and beat the fuck out of him (if jotaro wanted to he could EASILY donut him the same way diavolo donuts others). If jotaro ever feels the need he can just timestop and the fights over because diavolos reaction speeds arent on the same level, and jotaro can HIT PEOPLE IN TIMESTOP UNLIKE Diavolos Time Erase. This is all talking about Jotaro during his peak which is during the end of the dio fight. That Jotaro smokes Diavolo with little to no difficulty, and he negs him with 0 difficulty if hes bloodlusted. See unlike Giorno and the his squad, Jotaro isnt out for blood. If jotaro wished it, the entirety of part 3 would be a bloody mess because jotaro is holding back so much throughout the entire part. Big thing is that the stats are way different. Star platinum has been specifically shown to be able to automatically defend Jotaro, so while he might be caught off guard, he won’t be insta-donutted. Secondly, assuming this is part 3 Jotaro right off the DIO fight (Jotaro at his physical peak), he has an A in durability. King Crimson has an E. A fucking E. In the part 6 stand page for Star Platinum, a point where he is PHYSICALLY WEAKER than in part 3 and after the production of part 5, Star Platinum is stated to be physically the strongest stand in the world. Diavolo can’t attack during erased time, only after. That’s how fate works for his ability. On the other hand, Jotaro can, and has even previously popped DIO, a vampire, through his skull.
I see the fight going like this: Diavolo skips time, tries a donut, Star platinum blocks, and Jotaro stops time. At that point, it’s done. Star Platinum simply has too much durability and attack power for king crimson to handle, let alone his ability of stopping time.

I will always love the concept of how diavolo got defeated, as in the requiem was, in fact, exactly what giorno needed at that moment, to stop diavolo from reaching his goal, basically the opposite of king crimson. Honestly in a fight though I think it would probably come down to who activates their stand first. One thing to keep in mind is that even though their powers work differently, from the victims perspective it's almost the same.
Just to place my two cents to this, but this is mainly a fight where it’s mainly dependent on who learns about who first. Since King Crimson cant effect a Time Stop since time isn’t moving and the Star Platinum most likely can’t hit King Crimson within the erased time. Which will probably lead to a lot of open space where neither of them can hit each other. Since it really takes one hit for the other to kill each other since the main reason Star Platinum doesn’t cave in everyone’s skulls like he did DIO’s is because he’s holding back. And I don’t think Ephitet could be able to see into Frozen Time and just see what happens afterwards. Where King Crimson most likely wouldn’t even exist in the Frozen Time since he’d have already skipped it. Of course these issues don’t happen if one of them mistimes their Time abilities. More of a QuickDraw situation since whoever uses their ability first to end the fight wins.
Personally I bet on Jotaro, dude is a tank and has a lot of experience battling weird stands. So, if anyone were to figure out King Crimson before dying, it’d be Jotaro. Since this would be his third time dealing with a Time Based stand.
I think the main difference is Jotaro can attck during stopped time but king crimson has to wait until the time skip is over to attack
One of the most important distinctions to be made about this fight is that King Crimson cannot interact with others during his time skip, if he could he would just donut people during it instead of right when it ends. This means that he cannot get an insta win using time skip, he would have to time skip to an advantageous position and then attack with a blitz, a blitz that is absolutely slower than anything star platinum could react to. In all honesty jotaro’s time stop would almost certainly neg king crimson as, if diavolo isn’t actively erasing time, that is a guaranteed win. And even if he erases the time he has no possible way to prevent getting caught in a time stop right after a time skip. This battle is definitely an interesting and challenging fight but not a loss at all for jotaro, when they say he has the strongest stand, they mean it with very few exceptions.

What many people fail to grasp is King Crimson is a stand that takes advantage of a loophole. Diavolo has a split personality, and in the Jojo story that’s described as ‘two souls inhabiting one body’ a stand is a manifestation of your soul used for combat (or sometimes other purposes) King Crimson is so powerful because his ability to time skip and ability to see the future are supposed to be 2 abilities for 2 entirely different stands, but have instead manifested as one stand with the capability to use both powers in tandem
One of the main reasons why king crimson was so strong was because of epitaph, without it he would just be randomly time skipping without knowing he himself what would happen at the end of it.

king crimson can actually interact with people during erased time, only really use it to get past their moves and set himself up but jotaro can just activate the world after he does and its done cause theyre both close range stands, and if its part 3 jotaro its over
I’m still under the impression that Jotaro could probably win a fight with Diavolo, because he has fair better combat experience and is a extremely skilled stand user.
I'll say it Star Platium due to how stop time actually would be a good counter to skip time.
Epitaph and the fact it all happens in no time means that time skip is actually the perfect counter to it

King crimson was designed as a hard counter to time stop if I remember correctly
Yeah no Time Stop is easily the better ability as you cannot erase stopped time but it is possible that Jotaro will stop time while it is "erased" which could break him out.
I think the bigger problem is IT'S actually possible to fight back against KC attacks if you are fast enough. In stop time you are completely defenseless.

also, if King Crimson would've done something in the time skipped, it will have happened, even despite Diavolo's intangibility during that period, so if Epitaph shows him trading killing blows with someone, he can skip that, and he'll take no damage, but his opponent will still drop dead.
I think the important thing to keep in mind is that the power level of end of part 3 jotaro is way higher than part 4 jotaro, and that's by design.
When it takes a whole reality warper to take one down, the fight normally goes to that one.
If the users are close to each other I believe whoever uses their ability first will win. But at a distance King crimson has the advantage as it erases ten seconds of time, meaning the user will get closer and star platinum time stop won't work nearly as effectively as it would in close range.
I think it depends who uses they're ability first but even then diavalo would most likely use his stand power first
My opinion on this match up is and will always be dependent on whether or not Epitath can predict Star Platinum stopping time.
The time stop doesn't exactly have a range, but Jotaro can only move so far in 4 seconds.
That fight literally comes to timing. The only thing is that star plat is also said to have near limitless speed while king crimson is slightly above average. And it can’t attack during the timeskip unlike star plat

Something I really like when it comes to King Crimson is how Diavolo uses it. When he’s alone with another stand user he’s basically untouchable thanks to the fact he can simply look into the future, avoid whatever attack you’ll try on him, then position himself to counterattack. When he’s with multiple stand users, he’s still very dangerous but now Diavolo will be damn sure to be on his toes to make sure he can get what he wants. Think Diavolo vs Bucciarati and then Diavolo vs Giorno and Co. from the moment he showed up at the Colosseum trying to get that arrow.

These points are good my only problem is that Diavolo or king crimson can’t physically hurt someone while they use the ability and if the ability is easily recognized like the episode it was revealed it can be somewhat countered if your… y’know smart like Bucciratti. While Jotaro’s star platinum in time stop can physically hurt someone and throw objects obviously you can make same point with counters of it’s recognized part but the thing is jotaro could get his hits and make space.
I’d like to point out two points the guy made.
• king crimson isn’t the one seeing into the future that is doppios stand epitaph! It sees 10 seconds in to the future
• they do realize ten seconds skip in the episode it first appears in both giorno and buccirati realize what going on of course the other don’t notice but that because they’re doing other stuff while buccirati is seeing it and giorno noticing weird occurrences.

I still think jotaro wind due to his speed demonstration against infinite speed pucci in part 6 making him speed blitz diabolo, if we are talking peek of each character, not to mention jotaros durability is amazing meaning even if diabolo got to Skipp time it's no100% going to kill jotaro
If both are going no hold back straight for the kill, then it’s simply whoever can activate their ability first, unless they have prior knowledge of their abilities, which I don’t think they would. Hell, even if king crimson activated, if jotaro has a fast enough reaction time then he may be able to activate time stop right after. The issue is with how king crimson works, if jotaro did a time stop during the fated 10 seconds of king crimson’s “skip” then nothing would happen because Diavolo is except from that fate and jotaro would just run out of energy. Unless the “seconds” of time stop somehow overlap with the 10 seconds of king crimson
