So you may have heard that archer fish are a brackish water fish!(low salinity water) yet, out of the 10 recognized species of archer, only 2-3 are actually brackish. The rest are fresh. This isn’t a hugely popular fish in the hobby, but most know about it. In an upcoming video, I’ll dive deeper into them!
can't wait for that. now you have to have flies in the gallery so the Archer can shoot them down for a snack 😉
Hey just want to let you know that the plant (water hyacinths) is highly invasive and so easily propagate, so be careful to not let any part it to float into any waterways. It can suffocate fish if you get too many of them, so keep the population as low as possible! Here in Indonesia we are encouraged to use it as many as possible (mostly for chicken food or woven into mat etc) since they cover most of the ponds.
The Australian archer fish get tought how to hunt/SPIT from the older fish. It's not something they just know so probably won't be spitting water in an aquarium unless you've got an older one who can show them
You keep calling Susan a she when you have already said that he be a boi why
@@couragewolf720 have you met a boy named Susan?
I think it's because he named him first and keeping the name as a memory!?
Hey joey, as someone who is deaf can you please start adding captions to your videos? :( I can somewhat read your lips, but when you're showing tanks and fish I have no idea what you're saying. With over 1.34M subscribers I can guarantee I'm not the only one with a hearing disability.
LETS BOOST THIS COMMENT!!!!
There is a caption option in try using that
@@gamingmaster7346 i think he didn't activate it
Imagine a large school of congo tetras in that 2000g i think it would look absolutely wonderful when they get to their full size
Diamond Tetra are a bit better imo, Iridescent so you get those blues, red, orange flutters however they also have a really cool body shape and they are a lot more rewarding.
If you haven't tried them they are essentially imo a better congo
Tetras are so lame
Rainbows would look better
@@mitchellgruninger9992 yea well im a fan of the simple look of the congo but i get what you mean
@@hasbulla4677 idk i like them but must be just me lmao
Joey has a serious case of "I know I came here for this, but I also need this now" and i love it
The water hyacinth are the plants that you were holding up, YOU MUST KEEP THEM AT WARM TEMP and they need a ton of light. If you choose to keep them in pond, bring them in on Winter. Also don't pluck the leaves or roots they will rot. They grow in abundance in my country
Is it just me or did the kois looked more like common goldfish. A few looked like kois but the rest all looked like just your every day common goldfish.
They are probably the lowest quality kois. The pet shop must be overjoyed they no longer have to maintain those fish...
The bulbous looking floaters are called hyacinths. They grow VERY quickly, are much hardier than the water lettuce in my outside pond.
Also: "I don't know what these are!" -> Proceeds to smell and taste unknown plant.
LOL. I love it, but please be careful with that. :P
Jesus christ no hesitation when eating the plants lmao
It always catches me off guard and its so funny
Joey goes to collect his order. Buys double the stuff on whim 😂😂😂 i love it. No one can stop him!
"They don't taste good" little did everyone know, they actually tasted pretty good, and Joey made a quick meal of them after showing us, he quickly returned to the fish store to buy more and later snacked on them during a movie...
He's lying to us to keep them for himself!
Nobody:
Joey: *buys new plant, accidentally breaks a left, smells it and thinks it's ok to taste, has a face of instant regret right after*
Joey: treat your plants for snails and pathogens
Also joey: *bites plant*
That water hyacinth is extremely invasive and will take over any water system so take care when you dispose of it
gets to cold there to survive in the wild
Anyone else drop everything when Joey uploads? 😂😂
Yes
No i have a life
Oli Cam u do ?
Here in Brasil that bigger floating plant is commonly found on poluted bodies of water, reproducing extremely fast in these conditions, we call it "Aguapé", is pretty good in taking nutrients as well organics from the water.
The floating plant is Water Hyacinth. They're a very popular pond plant that produces a grouping of purple flowers once they mature. They grow and multiply very quickly in the right conditions. It will produce babies on stems that come off the main plant in exactly the same way the Water Lettuce does. These plants are often illegal in warmer areas where they can survive through mild winters because they reproduce so quickly and if released can completely clog up/take over natural waterways.
Very quickly! Not much need to buy more than one hyacinth for a water feature. We put one in a couple of half barrels on our back patio and within a few weeks it had turned into 6 plants.
They're illegal in UK despite not surviving our winter 🤷♀️
4:50 really makes you wonder what Joey does with a fish that's DOA... lol
There's 2 types of folk who comment on Joey's videos.
Type 1: wow amazing beautiful love everything you're great (me too bud)
Type 2: stop everything you're doing is wrong omg why
You know you’re a regular when you can start bagging up your own fish 😂😂😭
Good luck keeping those water lettuce plants with Susan! :D :D it will be a nice snack for him :D JOEY YOU CANNOT KEEP PLANTS WITH A GIANT GOURAMI! Do a tank with mangrove vibe for the 2000g you already got some great fish to swim in the top... do thousands of small fish that can do well together please
Yes I'm so excited!!! I want to pick up my own Clouded Archerfish 😊
Archer fish are so beautiful 😍.
Will you ever get Guppies? I have been waiting for years to see them on your channel 😀
Who loves King of DIY?
⬇️
nooo dont do only archers and susan, put at least one other big school of fish in there, we want to see a big community!
Great choice of fish! They look amazing you have done such a great job!
we all know in a month it will be somethin different in there..
Water hyacinth is the first floating plant. Be careful not to let you go in the wild, they're invasive and they propagate fast! They're great floating plant though, especially for Fry
They can not survive Canada winters, they are strictly tropical to sub-tropical. Though non-native species should always be controlled and disposed of properly.
One exception is Kimchi. Smells like the worse fart from hell but so tender, sweet, spicy, and bitter.
Agreed! It's also very umami. And when I'm hungry I barely notice the smell.
Another good stinky food is Chinese aged tofu. Bleu cheese also falls in that category.
@charlie staple korean dish. it's pretty good i don't think it smells bad at all
I liked pickled cabbage or kimchi cabbage (maybe that's what its called)
@@jordanchng997 I agree. Doesn't smell too bad so long as there isn't a LOT.
@charlie Fermented Korean vegetables. Things like Korean Radish, cabbage, spring onions. Man it's spicy and goooood. It's a side dish used in a lot of their food. Nice and crunchy texture, freshness and a little sweetness, paired with varying amounts of HEAT.
Someday maybe a livebearer tank?? guppys, mollies, swords and platies???
I would put the water lettuce and hyacinth in the pond while it's still summer. They will multiply very quickly in direct sunlight. The hyacinth will also produce beautiful purple flowers. When fall/winter comes you can move them inside. They probably won't thrive inside but you should be able to keep them alive till next spring.
I would have rather seen 60 discus in the big aquarium
Joey i have had butterfly Koi for years and I just wanted to let you know at least half them Fish are not Koi the are comet goldfish
Yeah I was looking at them too wondering if some of them were comet goldfish... it's either that or some oddly shaped butterfly koi. I'd have an easier time if I could see them from above.
I hope they didn't charge him Koi prices🤯
All of those koi looked like your most common koi lol
Buying a new fish is most exciting day for an aquarium hobbyist
Awesome pickups J... 29 damn Archers?? Love it and the butterfly koi are gonna be perfect in the pond 🤙🏽🐠🤙🏽
Love the archer fish and the koi, looking forward to seeing more of them in the future. The blue-faced angel looked like it might be a beautiful fish, but you will have to give us a better view
Joey looking happy and healthy coming through with another awesome video!
Joey:"Usually when something doesn't smell good, it doesn't taste good. No exceptions"
Everyone else:"But ass tastes delicious"
the floating plants and pothos dangling down will be perfect with the archer fish. you can put some crickets on them and watch the fish eat as they would in the wild.
Hey Joey love your channel, those bulb plants are indeed Water Hyacinths and are invasive in South Africa. They great for ponds, Gold fish and Koi love them. They grow like wild fire and very quick at that. They actually poisonous to larger animals but the root system is great for fry and laying of eggs, the fish will eat the bulbs if they get hungry. I had them in my pond and helps protect the fish against predators. also help against algae. Keep up the brilliant work you doing.
Just skipped watching my all time favorite movie to watch joey 😂
I love watching your videos. I also got your book from Christmas last year it helped me out alot. Thanks for taking time out of your life and making that happen. You are truly a kind soul.
its called water hyacinth, it gets a very purple flower, and a pretty good size. filters water nicely but likes to take over so when you get enough done be afraid to trim the baby bulbs and get rid of them
Its like duck weed for a pond....lol
My water hyacinth (the one you don’t know) is blooming beautiful lavender flowers right now (Florida). I’ve had no luck with water hyacinths indoors in my aquariums even next to a window. I have a cichlid pond and a water plant tub and this summer the hyacinths multiplied like crazy! TBH I “took” water hyacinths and water lettuce from the wild, because here in Fl they are in every body of water.
The floating plants with the large, fluffy root system are called Water Hyacinth.
( Eichornia Crassipes)
Donald Douglas will grow well in tropical environments and temperate environments during summer months
Thanks Joey
Recently started up a 5 foot tropical and 2foot saltwater. Sending love from Sydney Australia
Came here for Joey taste testing his plants 🌱
You got ripped most were fancy long tail comets lol
Lol
Love your vids you have inspired me to keep fish and aquatic frogs.
Wow Nice fish! Im excited to see that in your 2000gl Tank!
Thanks for all the fish!
Hi from Australia Joey.
You might find that the koi eat the roots off the water lettuce. (my goldfish love them)
Love your work mate
The koi would feast on the water lettuce 😂😂 it's extremely easy to propagate and the Hyacinths flowers are pretty 💕
2:12 I love how the goldfish immediately rise to the top like they are expecting mana from heaven.
Some of those koi look like goldfish
It’s 2:30 am atm and I’m playing fall guys and watch joeys videos at the same time 😂😂😂
great life lol
Quite a few of the them aren't koi. Some a are gold fish.
Just said that lol
I was just rewatching the video you did about your past and it’s still an inspiration to see how far you’ve gotten
Those are water hyacinths. They are really, really invasive here in India. They grow like crazy and also flower. I've heard they're mandatory for breeding carps because carps tend to lay their eggs in the roots.
You're going to have some depressed archer fish if they have nothing to archer at.
Yes not to mention he is stuck. They will out grow that tank, dies and no one wants them. They get to big and are ugly. Oh wait but they spit. So does the puffer he has.
Joey breaks the plant, sniffs then tastes it....
me: JOEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING! YOU DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS!
Both plants will spread quickly outside. The bulbous one is water hyacinth. It gets beautiful purple flowers. They don’t do well indoors unless you have good lights. Don’t leave them in the pond over the winter. They turn to gross mush!
( I learned that the hard way. But I have a small patio pond so it wasn’t too bad. Just gross and messy.
WATER HYACINTHS!!! love those floater plants! too bad no store in Georgia has any
Amazing fishes...so cool vedio... beautiful floating plants..keep it up
This is video has 41 thumbs down for no reason. It’s a good video Joey shows us the new fish he got for his tanks and 41 people hit thumbs down, if that’s not being a hater I don’t know what is !!
The archers will stay primarily in the top of the eater column, maybe get some other fish for bottom and middle of the tank? What’s your thoughts
Those archers are beautiful, can't wait till they're 8" and eating aggressively.. I really hope you keep them for the long run.
Also.. Those koi will make light work of those plants 😂
Early squad where yall at?
Advanced human brain: "I wonder what's inside this weird bulb"
Caveman brain: "taste it"
Prefer discus community. But your tank, your call
Will be so nice to See these fish grow out! Especially the koi!
Water Hyacinth. Nice and hardy in tropical climates. Here in the Philippines these are like water weeds.
The floating plant is called water hyacinth,.. I think.
yeah i was at lfs recently and saw them there.
That's some terrible koi, hope it was free lol
He won’t own them long don’t worry
bryce lovell haha yes yes. Trial koi, fair enough. Too expensive to experiment with otherwise
Water Hyacinth and water Lettuce.
The larger plant is Water Hyacinth whichis illegal to have in Australia as it's classed as a noxious weed. It's unfortunate as waterfowl love eating it.
The name of the floating plant is water hyacinth
Water hyacinth is the puffy bulb one.. will get purple flowers. They should do well but you will have to bring them in to over winter them
Looking forward to see you upgrade the koi in the future!! Those r looking like feeder goldfish lol
Great timing Joey. Can't wait to buy fish again for my fish room
His laugh gives me life
You should get 1 black koi for your pond
The floter plant is a water hyacinth (very invasive there in South Africa)
Put one of the hanging baskets on top of the tree trunk, and let it grown down
Archer😉 good Choice and please consider adding geophagous In you Gallery 😊
Love archer fish. Best pick ever for the 2000g if ya ask me.
Amazing video keep it up nice fish
NICE!!! Blue-Faced Angel my absolute favorite SW fish!!
yo
lets see one amazing video
Ah yes! The archer fish! I love it dude, wow resonating with you. For the past month I've been planning a whole project on a 55 gallon for archers and some dwarf pike cichlids , pleco etc etc. Currently renovating the wall and also having plants surrounding the tank. It'll be so welcoming to come home to. Cheers dude, enjoy.
I think that tank will be a bit to small
@@jackpitt8316 It's recommended at least 55 gallons but closer to 90 gallons. Although I would like a school of them, I think 3 archers could be feasible.
you probably know what you are talking about ,I thought archer fish needed to have a much bigger tank then that maybe I'm thinking of a different species
I love your choices for fish stocking 🐠❤️
Like 300 giant danios would be awesome with those archers!!!!!
Sorry to say mate but they are not all koi, some comet goldfish in there
Your love for the hobby has really inspired me and many thank you
I think those big floating plants are water hyacinth (eichhornia) very invasive
YES! I knew it was ARCHER FISH! It is only fitting for that scape. 👍🏼
Weird ass guppies...
The joy in your face, in the thumbnail Joey! Love it!! Can't wait to see your projects "finished". Lol mine are also ever-changing, so happy to see I'm not alone! Lol
Those floating plants are water hyacinths!
The No. 1 in my list of hobbyist . You're an inspiration! ...from the Philippines.
