I made 9 trips to the Salmon River Country to hunt elk and mule deer and stopped in Elk Bend for lunch a couple times. My first trip was in 1991 and if I remember correctly it was the only business in town, different owners back then. I remember seeing deer & antelope on the other side of the river raiding the farmers field ! If I remember correctly right up the highway a little ways is the 45th parallel, halfway between the north and south pole ? And right across the river was Dugout Dicks place ... R.I.P. ... I'm too old and wore out to chase elk these days, but would love to come back for a vacation !
