acola does choose to play like this though. When you have players like marss 3 - 0ing miya while playing in a way more exiting way you can't really avoid the blame. You can win playing hype, it's just way more effort and less consistent. So if you want to win (like acola and miya) you only play top 10 characters and cheeze :/

ZSS, Joker and Olimar all have to perfectly space to avoid UpTilt, Bair, Minecart and Anvil (and Footstool) while dealing with Blocks. Steve just has to get 2/3 interactions with these move to take out a stock. No hate to any of the players but Steve is so frustratingly broken and boring to watch.
It is such a shame that the game doesn't reward some technical, fast-paced characters. If the game incentivize more characters like Diddy, Joker, Shiek, ZSS, and Bayo it might be more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the game rewards just a lot of defensive characters (or neutral monsters like Aegis pushed so much to be relevant) with efficient, simple setups. Turns what could be a Joker vs Shiek mixup-fiesta into Steve uptilt vs Rob down throw.

Thankfully Tweek still wins with Diddy, but Void just seems left out to dry as he does some of the most technical combos only to do the equivalent % of Steve landing 1 randomly thrown minecart. Then you have people falling out of ZSS moves that would kill otherwise. It just sucks to see the truly fast paced and exciting characters (Sonic isn't exciting) be so underwhelming.

Acola realized he was actually in trouble, and immediately started playing Steve. If the character was just even slightly balanced, Marss wins every time. This is the first time Steve has genuinely pissed me off. Acola did not deserve this top 8.

Banning the character isn't possible. No one likes him and we all want him gone but banning him would cause more harm than good. Even if most tournaments in America ban Steve, most of Japan and a few tournaments here would still allow him, so all you're functionally doing is robbing players of the MU experience, making it worse them overall when they inevitably do have to fight Steve.
Its so frustrating to see how many times Steve can freely disengage, build a house, and refresh on materials to keep getting stronger. He's playing his own game. Ban Steve
