ペン＆ピクセルは、1992年から2003年まで活動していたヒューストンのデザイン・カンパニー。マスターP、ゲットー・ボーイズ、リル・ウェインのジャケットなど、サザン・ラップ・シーンとは切っても切れないオリジナル・デザインを多数生み出した。彼らは一体どのように制作を進めていたのか。クライアントからの奇抜な注文にどう応えていたのか。なぜ金ピカでリッチな作風が多かったのか。現在はオレゴン郊外に住む創始者ショーン・ブロージュを訪ね、当時のシーンの状況から、細かな制作方法、そしてペン＆ピクセルの閉鎖理由まで答えてもらった。

Pen N Pixel inspired me to take up graphic design for my higher education and eventually formed by own creative studio back in 2003.
And while I highly admire their style, I developed my own and not copy them.
I never thought it was one team doing all these crazy iconic covers, sick!
+ilikespacedinosaurs I was surprised as well, but It kind of makes sense now in hindsight that they all have an uniform aesthetic.

Actually, he put that on the album cover because people knew P as "The Ice Cream Man" down here in New Orleans.
He had legit Beef with P and them, and even got at C-Murder on a track, which know one ever dared to do.
