This album is so great, it nearly puts half of Zytokine 's best of albums to shame. The fact that most of the songs are fairly level in terms of quality is also a difficult feat to pull. With my favorite being "Prayer Through Gestures", but after repeated hearing the album several times over. All other songs in the album are of similar quality.
Their latest albums have so many good songs it's hard to choose a favorite for me lol Their earlier stuff is interesting. The style this album has is nowhere to be seen and it's more. . . raw, if you will. At least from what I've heard.
What gwnre(s) would you classify Tengu no Mai as? I really like their stuff and I'm eager to find other stuff like it. Shoegaze??? Maybe, but only for certain songs? Math rock? Idk man I'm not super good at this genre stuff.
They've got a lotta stuff going on, but generally I'd call this alt-rock or pop-rock. They do have some shoegaze tracks such as tr. 7 on the Benben & Yatsuhashi album. Labels like types of genre suck ass though, because some little nuance changes the whole picture apparently.
