Someone may have already mentioned this, but the mango powder is called amchur and it’s made from unripe mangoes. It adds a really unique sour brightness to things and is common to see in chana masala and other chickpea dishes because it pairs well with their earthy flavor.

I gotta admit, because I live in rural PA, have never been to trader joes, and everyone here thinks of it as a trendy grocery store for hipsters, when you said there was a poem on the Mac n cheese bites, I fully believed you 😅
It started as a very hipster Portland-esque store…especially with the overall friendly vibe and Hawaiian shirts but it’s quickly become a niche affordable store for fancy cheese, amazing packaged and frozen items and oddly enough, cheap floral arrangements? Their brand is pretty top tier tbh, like the quality is always good.
Right! Their meal shortcut items are amazing, as are their basic items like olive oil, cheeses, and the spices they carry for example. Where you can blow $$ is if you get sucked into buying their multitude of snacks, most of which you don't really need.

Re the salt: TJ’s doesn’t use msg for some bizarre reason, making much of their food a bit bland and lacking umami (especially in the snacky category). Get a bottle of msg to add to their dishes and it makes a world of difference!
I’d be interested in this same video concept but using an air fryer for anything that has instructions for it, or making each of these meals according to the different versions of instructions to see which way is best. Loving the longer videos!
I held my breath through the cod and ratatouille for your verdict. It's exactly the type of meal I'd make for myself on a random weekday, so it's my go-to frozen dinner at Trader Joe's. I also really like their seasonal butternut squash mac and cheese. It's very similar to their regular one. My trick for frozen dumplings is cooking them in my Instant Pot in a steamer basket with one cup of water on low pressure for 4 minutes. They're consistently plump and happy and never have those dry edges that some microwaved dumplings get.

Put the fish nuggets in soft tortillas with a slaw (I like Trader Joe's broccoli carrot slaw), then mix some of the TJ's greek goddess dressing with a little sour cream and salsa verde for a dressing on top....SO GOOD!
Sounds like what I do at Fuzzy’s Tacos-they have a tempura battered fish taco & a black bean (cooked with carrots, celery & onion so reminiscent of your ‘slaw) taco. I like to eat both tacos together 👍
A TJ lady was making tacos with the fish nuggets once a long time ago, with their shredded cabbage, guacamole, and cilantro dressing. It's weird but for some reason, even though they're breaded, the nuggets work in tacos.

This is my first time for seeing one of your videos, and I have to admit most of the things you tried I’ve never had. Of the ones you rated I did try I like the butter chicken much more than you do, but I absolutely agree about those dumplings. The one item I was surprised you didn’t try. Was the chicken burrito bowl, which is one of my favorites. But I may have to try that lamb vindaloo.
I love Trader Joe's for snacks and some food staples. Not great for meats and produce, but it will do in a pinch! There's one across the street from my work so great for stocking my work fridge.

I really like that the orange chicken comes with brown rice that has bits of water chestnut in it, plus peas and broccoli, AND the sauce is separate so I can dial down the sweetness. The full bag also has separate sauce but isn't a complete meal that I can microwave at work.

current college student here, everyone i know who goes to school near a trader joe’s makes their frozen dinners a cornerstone of their diets. i go to school in a very white town and the microwave kimbap is super popular with the other koreans here. they’re always out when i go back to LA tho so it makes sense why you didn’t try it in this vid.

I love Trader Joe's for snacks and some food staples. Not great for meats and produce, but it will do in a pinch! There's one across the street from my work so great for stocking my work fridge.

I really like that the orange chicken comes with brown rice that has bits of water chestnut in it, plus peas and broccoli, AND the sauce is separate so I can dial down the sweetness. The full bag also has separate sauce but isn't a complete meal that I can microwave at work.

You forgot some! My two favorite frozen foods from Trader Joe’s are the fettuccini and the French Onion Soup! These are staples for me.

current college student here, everyone i know who goes to school near a trader joe’s makes their frozen dinners a cornerstone of their diets. i go to school in a very white town and the microwave kimbap is super popular with the other koreans here. they’re always out when i go back to LA tho so it makes sense why you didn’t try it in this vid.
