I gotta say... You have the *worst* thumbnails I've seen in a long, long time. Attempting to fish using sex appeal AI art is just low. Would be better to take the models of the game and make a stylish picture instead of bad AI art. That negativity aside, this was the mission I kept replaying a lot for funsies before anything else in the game a few months ago. And only thing I did also, aside from being bombarded by a frigate. Only once did I manage to successfully complete the trench run but alas, the replay functionality bugged out so I couldn't record it ;-; I always made a b-line to the trench by flying low and all power diverted to the engines and shields. Gotta be cinematic about it after all.
Gotta be cinematic above all else. :) re: the Pretty pilot thumbnails though - youtube has some interesting view analytics for creators, and currently offers the ability to run A/B tests on thumbnails, so I've been running some tests along the lines of what you were suggesting. Results are currently maddeningly inconclusive. But thanks for the data point, and if you see a big change, you'll know why.
