  • Moccasins En Pointe was a collaboration between Colorado Ballet and Colorado's Native American community to create innovative, new works that represent the values, spirit, and diversity of our community. Moccasins En Pointe is by Keya Clairmont, the 2016 Denver March Powwow Princess. The work integrates Native American Fancy Shawl Dancing with classically trained ballet dancers, joining together these two long-standing cultures and dance forms.

Pacific Northwest Ballet should do something similar to this. This is amazing and a great way to teach about Native culture and a great way to not only expand minds but expand the arts.

its so cool to see Colorado ballet wanting to learn more about native communities..and even better they came to a native person to learn it. I feel like so many people appropriate our culture but I feel like this is such a beautiful example of collaboration. You did an amazing job Keya!
