If getting your hair and nails done makes you happy then go for it but don't turn around and go to the food bank and take from a family who actually really needs it. That's the problem I have. The food bank is there to help people who don't have money for food, not for people who live outside their means and expects someone else to put food on their table.
I agree! No more food bank for me
You cant spend money because things are not going right. You go shopping then whine because your in debt. This didn't just start it's been a long time coming but you wait until money is Completely Out of control to Do Anything! It's past Stupid
Or eatting out or buying your stuff you dont have to have@heyvanessamartin
@@heyvanessamartin🙄🙄
Yes i agree with you I have a daughter she a single mom of 3 boys that girl goes no where! She does everything for her kids she does her hair at home, she does not do her nails even though she would like to but no her kids come first she spends everyday all day with them and whatever they need she gets them! She comes second always she might not have much money but she has no debt! And the boys are noy lacking anything because they have me i will always be there for them, she struggles but she does it on her own and no food banks! So if she can do it everyone can!
My husband always tells me if you can’t buy it twice then you can’t afford it
OMG. Vanessa! Please. I implore you. You need help. I say this to you all the time.
The people that subscribe to your channel are beginning to realize what you are. A deeply troubled person who refuses to do what is best for you and your kiddo.
Please. Do it for your kid if nothing else.
Also. EVERYONE! Please stop telling Vanessa she deserves all the spending she’s doing. Her daughter deserves to have financial stability and a mother who is financially stable and healthy.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. People.
I’m working on it.
I agree with you I'm a mom of 3 adults people say that on the comments so they can see her fall on her face ! no one is being honest to her!! Not me what I don't want done to my kids I don't want done to anyone children!
I tried, but I can't keep watching someone self sabotage! I wish you the best of luck!
She knows what she owes doesn't have to call. Look at your bills!
Such a strange video. You cry about being in debt but then brag about your nails and a designer blanket.
Let’s not exaggerate. I state that I’m in debt. I laugh at myself at how stupid I am.
That's what she does and she really don't CARE
@@heyvanessamartinyou can't fix stupid
I was not going to comment, but here goes, don't hate on me people, I am 57 and still do not own my own home, thanks to making, stupid mistakes. I lost my only son, and went to counseling for 2 years, to say it helped is an under statement! you are covering your grief by spending, go to a one on one counselor or group, it will do wonders, because you need your head straight, do the envelope savings, it does work, and when your fun money for the month is gone, that's it until next month. if I buy something I break a big bill and throw all the change including bills into a jar. I have one credit card for emergency only, I sell on Ebay and Macari for extra money, your car payment, is crazy! you still owe so much on it, and your nails, $80 plus tips, could have been 1 week's groceries for you and your little girl.
It's ridiculous, then goes to food bank. This money problem started way before her grieving. She wants a high life with all the perks!
It's ok that you don't have a home it's never too late! I'm 65 I had 3 homes in the past sold it made some money and I always worked full time I have no debt but I would never pay 80 dollars to do my nails or hair I do my own hair! We have to save for a rainy day and I have 3 kids and 7 grandchildren my oldest she 47,my son 45 and my youngest she 42 so if my kids and grandchildren need anything I'm here for them! I have worked very hard in the Medical Field for 35 years I'm not spending my money on stuff that is not worth it, sometimes my husband will buy me stuff I don't ask hs just does it!
It’s OK that you don’t own a home. It can be a lot of work and especially if you’re a single person. I have a daughter who is 30 years old and not married and I told her don’t put the stress on yourself to buy a home.
You need to learn how to say no to yourself.
Yes! Absolutely
Vanessa. You are not stupid. Making a few mistakes like we all have is not being stupid. You are as good as anyone else. I am hoping and praying that things start looking up for you soon. You are such a loving caring mother to Penelope and that is so important in this day and time.
She even admitted having a good income. So she turns to what people relate with, the Bible, all of a sudden she will fix it , after everybody commented on her free spending life
This is why some of us were begging you to stop spending money and you told us NO you were not going to stop spending money. If I remember right when you try to do this budgeting thing before your credit card was not that high. Every time you wanna spend money make a video and we’ll talk you down
Getting nails done? No girl, getting out of debt doesn’t mean getting your nails done.
Exactly. Haven't had my nails done in almost 4 years because I couldn't afford it and honestly it's so overpriced. I just do them myself and feel way better about the money saved.
@@sj9410 I’ve never had my nails done. Such a savings
I do my own 💅 and I have ZERO debt.
You have to know where your priorities are ?? Nails or groceries?? Groceries...having nails and toe nails done are a luxury..Likewise..i haven't had mine done for as long as i remember as i had to put money into car repairs !! ..Just my opinion only .
Right ! Starting off on the wrong foot !!
You need to learn what NEEDS & WANTS are…you don’t need your nails done you want your nails done. If you’re short on money you need food…
You nailed that right it's what She WANTS
Agree she can do her nails at home like some people I know that have money!! Listen I do my nails to but I do them at home and i work full time no debt and have a home!
9,000 is not Emotional spending. You didnt just spend that! It took some time, so dont blame it on grief!
So I had clinical depression prior to my daughter’s death and a failed relationship among many other things. So emotional spending was an issue prior to my stillbirth to be clear
@@heyvanessamartinI agree with some weird thinking about everything you bring up
I agree we all have trauma believe me but we don't own money to no one I would die if I own anyone that kind of money! Sell your car and buy a second hand one for 5 dollars like we the people that have a home and money saved!
Unfortunately getting out of debt means sacrifice even if it’s uncomfortable
Besides bad money management I think it’s also a case of self entitlement. Humble yourself. Buy some nail polish.
Absolutely the truth
Put the credit card up, and do not use it. If you can't pay cash for something you do not need it. Good luck on getting out of debt. It takes a lot of discipline. You can do this! Nails are a want not a need. Rethink your needs versus your wants. Make milestones, and when you reach a milestone treat yourself to 1 thing you really WANT! This will help keep you from splurging.
Shes trying to convince everyone of her real life, this whying and spending is her real life but she will tell you a fabulous Story how she will make everyone proud by making up another story with delusion
It doesnt qite seem your #1 thing to do get rid of? Its years of spending. So admits a good income, breaking up and getting pregnant twiced no protection
Self improvement takes time so I will wait on thumbs up for a one day good, because its Everyday that counts!
We are all on some struggle bus. Focus on needs and your child first. That’s what I am doing. No more frivolous spending. You know what you need to do, sheer willpower to tell yourself no.
I would cut up your credit cards because you’re not a credit card person which that is OK. Also stop getting your nails done until you’re out of debt. Then if that is something you really enjoy put it in your budget. I am 57 years old and I have never had credit card debt. I have lived on a budget since I was 16 years old.
Don’t say stupid broke if you can afford to get your nails done your not broke. When you can’t buy food then you can say stupid broke. When you can’t drive your vehicle because it won’t start and you can’t afford to get it fixed. When you are a heart patient and can’t afford your meds. It makes me very upset that you say stupid brok and went and got your nails done. I will be unsubscribing
Your faces looks flushed?? Because you know you are spending too much on your self.?? I dont think it was because of grief. Its because You get what You Want
So true. No one says no to Vanessa. Even she doesn’t say no to herself. The ultimate narcissist/selfish person
It’s the make up she wears. She showed us on one video the blush she used and how she put it on. 😊

No not everyone is in debt ! I finally paid off my car and what a BIG relief off my shoulders I've been struggling for years i dont buy anything i dont need or cant afford period!!! I finally after 3 years of struggling big time i finally can buy a pair of pants one pay check a blouse the other week ! My only debt i have is my school loan and its under 2k ! I would be so stressed if my debt was like yours ! And so glad my 2 girls ( grown) are debt free
You know what's really therapeutic, totally free, very soul-satisfying, and can help you improve your health & lose weight? Walking - especially outdoors, in the fresh air. It can truly do wonders for you - both mentally and physically. I'm from Toronto, and despite our very harsh winters, I get outside and run/walk for an hour almost everyday. Just bundle up, maybe put on some music, and go. I think you may be pleasantly surprised at how fulfilling it can be, as opposed to shopping and getting your nails done.
On a positive note, I think it’s great that you cook homemade meals for you and your daughter. It’s a lot being a single mom and you are very good at making sure your daughter has healthy meals.
Don't get your nails or hair done. Do yourself at home. Don't use credit and be frugal with everything. You will see a big difference in a year.
😂 But you will look like crap
I have zero patience for a person who continually complains about issues of all variety yet knowingly makes decisions to compound their issues, worsening their problems.
You need serious help.
Vanessa, may I add I respect the fact you seem to be open to constructive criticism, and do not delete comments as I've seen other creators do.
I am a Mom of 3 grown children and a Grandma.
I see you are a young, single Mama who has a lot on her plate!
Hang in there, things will get better!
Perhaps reprioritize spending and be more mindful of wants and needs!
Retail therapy is just a bandaid and worsens your finances long term.
Sending you positivity ✨✨
Ever since I started watching you, you've been a spender, experiencing the loss that you have, I think really triggered that. If your really serious now, try to refocus yourself, how can I have pretty nails cheaper then going to the salon? , how can I have a fun good day without spending money? Saving money needs to feel as good to you as getting your nails done. Your getting alot of negative comments, use those to your advantage, and hold yourself accountable to your viewers.
How about focusing on going back to work? You know how people have to do this thing everyday called work....
You know I’m on mat leave. You’re obsessed with my content. I’m 100% convinced you’re a man who’s friends with my baby dad hiding behind a fake name and stock photo.

I totally understand you on the credit card debt and money management. I’m 53 and I’ve been through it. I’m still not perfect and I still buy myself things to make me feel better, although I’m much better than I was 20 plus years ago. Keep working on it, I know you can do it! 😘
Twenty years later and still struggling. Time to put your hands up
@@DawneMyers-hz5ejim not struggling. Between my husband and I we have nice 401ks, stocks, own our home outright, and are both going to get nice pensions 😄 I just meant that I understand how it is to struggle and to want to shop.
All these people see the same thing here go nail fund me ! No priorities at all bills bills bills can you pay my bills !
Absolutely that's what I b r lieve too
No hate here,I don’t buy what I can’t afford,don’t have a credit card,don’t live above your means it’s a joke
Reconsider getting your nails done as being harm at this point in your journey. It is self sabotage for your financial goals. When you are debt free THEN it is actually self care because you have taken care of your responsibilities and you life has opened up. Going deeper in debt is not self care when you think about it from a different perspective. Maybe consider giving yourself an allowance monthly that you have free reign to spend on whatever but the rest of your money is for bills and savings.
So true! That’s a good way of looking at it
Not sure Canada has Dollar Trees but they have great nail polish and artificial nails ! I use them all the time and they are great !
I think you'll find living with your mom helpful 😊 because she will be watching your behaviour and postal deliveries etc and will encourage you to control your emotional spending 😊
OMG. Vanessa! Please. I implore you. You need help. I say this to you all the time.
The people that subscribe to your channel are beginning to realize what you are. A deeply troubled person who refuses to do what is best for you and your kiddo.
Please. Do it for your kid if nothing else.
My family is on a debt free journey this year too. I believe you can and will do it! We can pray for eachother! Give yourself grace, dust yourself off, and get back on track. You got this.
Thank you ❤️
You haven't hit rock bottom if you're doing your nails. Very selfish. Not to include all your recent shopping trips. Im not sure you have any comprehension of money and how to live especially since you will be living with your mom. Here in the USA all the freebies you get in Canada would be gone. You say your making changes but you don't. I'm sorry for the loss of your baby.
Obviously you don't have your financial priorities in order. You need to get your nails done?? How many groceries will the money for that buy? You are not working or dating currently so what is the point? Emotional spending is just an excuse. I watch your videos because I think Penelope is the cutest little girl. I believe that some therapy might help you get on track to focus on your priorities, especially raising your daughter. I am not saying you are not a good mother...I'm seeing the whole picture that you are showing on YT.
P is not your family. Why are you watching someone else's daughter? 😮
@@dscrerar1111are you okay? You know this is the internet right?you understand that she puts her child on the internet right?
Holy monkeyballs Batman, Congratulations you just made a total arse of yourself 👏🏼
You might want to consider financial counseling. You find excuses to spend money on yourself rather than seeking help. If you were serious about making yourself feel good you would've taken that nail money and invested it in a college fund for Penelope.
@dscrerar1111 stop being rude. She said nothing rude or out of line about Penelope. Infact she Is complimented penelope. Also anyone who watches Vanessa's channel also is watching Penelope. So what's your point?
What people choose to spend their money on is very personal. If getting her nails done is a priority for Vanessa, it should be part of her budget. The part that I struggle with is spending on nails and expensive shampoo, then going to the food bank. The food bank is there for people who can't afford to buy food.
Just know that the more times you practice saying no to yourself the easier it becomes. Juat like a workout routine. You build the muscle through hard work and dedication. Money management requires the same discipline. Maybe think of "the reason" or "a reason" for why you are taking control of your money again and post it around your apartment or put it on the lock screen of your phone to remind yourself of WHY saying no is good for you and what it will get you in the long run. Being in debt makes all other aspects of your life harder and more stressful. Good luck! Being debt free is worth the work!
I was thinking the same, our bodies are an investment and time energy saving for a better time with Penelope, when I need a treat I buy some sanctuary body lotion, makes me smell beautiful & is so cheap and cruelty free.. I stopped getting my nails done because of hygeine reasons, those people using the same tools on everyones nails, makes me shudder. I buy lovely nail varnish and take care of my own nails...makes me feel so good & more money banked...kisses from😘 London.
Cut up your credit card right now.

Talk about debt, then show how how Classy you look! Really???
I lived with my auntie and my two kids before covid and i was $7000 in debt.. i was strict with myself and got everything paid off within 6 months. Maybe instead of getting your nails actually done get press ons.. i live in saskatchewan canada i know if i get my nails done its $60 bucks
wow,,,,does your mom know the trouble she could be in getting into a house with you if you don't pay your share? plus broadcasting it on you tube will never get you a good husband that will tolerate irresponsible spending. did your spending cause problems in your relationship with guys in the past?
She pays $1500+ in rent now. It's surely in her budget to help her mom. I'm sure she will be paying much less. and I'm sure any "good" guy that comes around will understand her past issues with spending due to trauma. She's said she's not looking to get into a new relationship for over a year from now so by then her situation would have already improved. We all hope.
She wouldnt be talking about her debt if somebody hadnt called her out on it.
Is that a fact?
Honestly Venessa I think you have pretty hair and nails already! So to save money I would suggest you not go to the salon or any thing get nails done! I never have got my nails done because I always work in the house and so uncomfortable have nails done not good for our nails any way! Please prioritize your money saving! I understand is therapeutic but I think would be better if you can save up the money on nails on the long run!
So true!
@@heyvanessamartin Those nails are not "Stylish love". as you put it, you could do so much better in the evening nice and quiet and save some money for you and Penelope.....🥰
It's hard, we look for the dopamine rush any way we can! Unfortunately, it only lasts for a minute, then we're in an even BIGGER mess... One thing I know for sure, being debt-free is the best feeling ever! But there are no shortcuts, it requires sacrifice and hard work. Hope you work it out xxx
Do you file a tax return each year? If you get a refund you should put it towards Capital One. That's what we did. We also followed Dave Ramsey's system.
Vanessa, there are a lot of things in your normal day to day life that are interesting. You like to cook and you have a budget debt free goal. I think an interesting topic would be seeing grocery hauls where you try to stick to a certain amount per week and how you stretch it to work. I enjoyed the food pantry content as well, it was so interestinghow that helped you stretch the grocery budget. Also, you like to shop, as do I , but don’t want to get anymore in debt. Good for you! But do you have any thrift stores you can explore? I started thrifting 20 years ago when my kids were younger, and would find good stuff for the family, but also a few things to re-sell to pay for the entire haul. It led to a career being a full time online reseller. Now I shop to pay for what I buy with a little profit for fun things!
That is really cool! Thank you for your suggestions.
@@heyvanessamartin Do they do fresh fruit and vege markets, cheaper that buying in bags?...Love from london.
Don't give up! You got this! Keep pushing, and keep praying! My husband and I are paying debt off currently. Seeing how you have your debt broken up in 2 spots, I'd say focus on the positive! Imagine having that debt spead over multiple cards or loans, you'd probably be even more overwhelmed! Keep trying to do better!! Make a budget and stick to it! Want your nails done? make sure it fits in your monthly fun money you budgeted for. Do you watch Caleb Hammer on youtube? I recommend! Good luck, Vanessa! You got this!! Progess. Progress. Progress!
Thanks for the encouragement! 🙏
All you have to do when you buy creamer or whatever, read labels. That will let you know what bad or good to buy.
I know a few people that went bankrupt which helped them out. But I don’t know if it’s a good idea or not😮

Budget bytes gives great recipes and u can adapt them to your liking!
Also Essie gel polish is what I used for years! The colors and top coats are great. Lots of easy neutral shades that look luxe . I swear they are amazing lol. Amazon has em cheaper too! I did that for a few years and I fell in love with it and healed my nails. Now I just do gel manicures and they last 3-4 weeks and are cheaper than the fakes!!Just a few ideas but Ofc u do what’s best for u! Good luck on all your goals
We did Dave Ramsey and it was hard but very fun because it's a challenge. We had thermometer and would fill it in as we got closer. It was a fun way to keep us motivated. It has helped us so much being out of debt. We're struggling a bit now because I'm not getting as many hours but we're still able to stay afloat because we did the baby steps and are not in any debt. Remember step 1 is to save for your emergency fund first because when Murphy's law happens you need something to fall back on so you don't continue staying in debt because emergencies happened!!! I know you've got his mama!!! Challenge yourself it really does make it more fun!!!
That sounds so fun! I’m definitely going to try that!
@@heyvanessamartin It really was a lot of fun. It keeps you motivated to keep going and as you pay things off it actually becomes like a game and you just want to pay off more and more until you're done!!! We did this back in like 2015 or so and we have not gone back into debt!! It was too much work getting out of it the first time!!
If you don't mind me asking I don't know if you have ever mentioned it but what do you do for work?

If you owe that much on your car, you should probably sell it and get something cheaper. You can declare bankeuptcy as an option as well. Your attitude is in the wrong place for conquering debt. The Ramsey method will only work if you follow it fully.

Maybe consolidate & get debt counseling…only have one card for emergencies. If you can’t buy something with cash then don’t buy it!
Start cutting back on emotional spending , its difficult, but once you see your debt going down ...Than start to treat yourself with little rewards ...going forward ..
Good luck on your journey. You’ve been through so much. I got myself in a situation where my ex had no credit and ran up all of my credit cards for 10 years. I’m now divorced and left to clean up the mess. Unfortunately I had to go the bankruptcy route. There is hope to get your life back on track. It just takes time and patience.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I’m glad you’re working towards getting your life back on track!
Yes you have been through alot, And getting your nails done is a pick me up but with $26000 debt you need to rethink spending. You could lose your car if you don't pay your loan. Ask family for gift certificate s for the salon . Get online therapy for depression, there are plenty of resources out there.
Jesus gives you happiness, joy, love. Not material things. Trust in Him
I know your pain with debt. I'm trying now to pay down my card's . Yes i was stupid and got a few cards. Upping my limits was easy and had no idea how they could impact my mood. Just start by paying yourself first. Maybe u can set up a Savings acct and automatically put away $50 a month (or what ever $ amount works for u)? Maybe later u can invest $50 /month for Penelope then she will have a nice nest egg for her future. If u set up an RESP ( Registered Education Savings Plan)for her then the Canadian Gov't will add 20% of what ever $ amt u put in. The Gov't will pay up to a max of $500/year. It will grow quickly with compound interest. We struggled in our early years but learned to live simple and save and plan for our future. Good luck to u!
Thank you!

Being on the lower.income ramge.not sure why credit cards give you such a large balance to charge
I'm on a lower range and Capital one invited me to have a few more thousand, I refused, don't need that over my head.
Hi Vanessa, you need to find a hobby to fill the void and bring you joy. Allow yourself a small amount to indulge in your hobby. Try and make savings difficult to access , meaning, not accessible via debit card. Think about having accounts linked to your main account such as an account for bills, an account for gifts. This worked wonders for me. Also, withdraw money for groceries, gas and your hobby. Once it's gone, that's it until next pay.
I appreciate you’re honesty when. It comes to sharing your debt amounts online and opening yourself up to comments and feedback from the internet. I am however sad that you are prioritizing your nails each month but also using the food pantry…. I almost feel like you know the food pantry is there to fall back on so you spend whatever you want. I’m not saying don’t use it but I really feel like you should be cutting the frivolous spending FIRST before going and using that resource. It sucks and it’s hard but you will feel so good knowing you are doing everything you can. Find free ways to get you that feeling you enjoy from getting your nails done, do you nails at home, do skincare nights to take care of you, enjoy a relaxing candlelight bath, have a girls spa night with Penelope.
I haven’t used the food bank in awhile. Won’t be using it
You can do it girl!!! It takes hard work and determination! My husband and I both paid off all our debt. We each kept a credit card each anything we buy we make sure we can pay it all completely when we use it and it’s not very often. If you know a credit card is a problem for you.. pay it off, and give it to someone you can trust to put up for you for emergencies only!!!!!!! Dave Ramsey is awesome!!! Praying for you ❤
Sorry, pay period is not the way to go. You need to make a proper monthly budget and then work on your cash flow. One trick is to budget for each month using two pay periods. Twice a year, there are three pay periods in the month. The one that is around the fall put into a separate account for your Christmas spending. The extra pay in the winter use for a vacation fund. Right now though, with debt reduction being your goal, I would put them both on your debt. It won't be easy but as David Ramsey says "rice and beans, beans and rice!" Oh, and don’t be spending your tax return! It goes straight on the debt. 😀
I totally feel you! I have debt and I really don’t have a lot to show for it. I was stupid with my past money. I started paying down my credit card and so far so good. I will not use a credit card like I used to. It’s terrible. I understand treating yourself. Once in a while I do that. With grocery prices being so high, I’ve been noticing I need to save money for the food I buy for my quick grocery runs during the week.
Oh and I also want to say I admire the whole recipe cooking. I wish I enjoyed cooking but I don’t. lol
Gosh, I wish i could control your money and help you pay that off. My CC each month is from 1600-3000. I pay it off each month. No nails done. Do them yourself. Cut your cc up.
Hopefully when you move in with your mom your household expenses will be less snd you can put that extra money on your credit debt. Also Every-time you reach a small goal like paying an extra payment on your card you can give yourself small rewards like getting your nails done. Stop buying from Amazon because that is wants not needs, at least till your card is paid off. If your still utilizing the food bank then you can save on groceries which can be put toward your debt. Just a few ideas. Make it your purpose for this year and see how it goes. If you are making good money then budgeting should not be too difficult. Maybe set your self a goal like purchasing your own home to keep you motivated. Wishing you luck in your endeavours. God has a plan for you just need to listen.
Sending the hearts only is just your way of saying screw you. You need to really get on it. Your Mom is going to have deal with you. Forget what you eat….show what you are doing when you aren’t eating
What do you want from me?
@ I don’t want a thing but I think you need to face facts…truly….you are already saying you want to be debt free to meet a guy….no guy worth it will be looking for someone who is just hanging in. You have so much to be thankful for and so much time to really make a difference ..curling up un your phoney Kate Spade with your Phoney nails on your debt journey is just not going to work. You really need to be on your own and get strong…
I dont even really think about the money its more about the Waste. I see so many UA-camrs putting all those clothes and dollar store items in a landfill. Maybe if you thought more about over consuming it would help you spend less on items. Like a NO SPEND MONTH. This is just a thought, it really helped me cut my spending when i looked at it from a different angle.
So true!
Hi, let's be real now. Are you not having at least $200 a month in interest on that credit card amount? 2) What do you do for a pay check(not sure you have said or is it a secret? 3) Why dont you get that husband first and make him pay off your debts? lol (lots of girls do this right)
She will put a red heart emoji under each comment, sometimes she will respond to a few viewers that they are right and the next minute she will do the same. Because she is unstoppable, very hungry and her condition is unsolved 😂
And even if my condition was solved, you’d still have a problem.

Exactly debt free means going without and spending what you have I’m 54 and have never had a credit card so prioritise I bought up 2 kids with no help from their dad and you too can do it
Thanks for being vulnerable. Many of us are in the same boat. You will get there. We need to treat ourselves along the way but not weekly 😂😊. Congrats on moving forward setting goals and climbing out of a really bad trauma! Also so you know I’m now always saying “sooooooooooo” that’s on you 😂
Thank you! So glad I could help 😂
You are still scamming
Omg 🤦♀️
Scamming what? You sure have a lot of time on your hands to write comment after comment on her videos. You look obsessed. It's not a good look on you. Why not add a more realistic and up to date picture of yourself? If that's even you.
