This song has a special place in my heart. Me and my friends and my brother went to our first Linkin Park concert back in 2013, in Amsterdam. The last song they played was In The End. While the band had already left the stage and people were leaving the stadium to go back home, our circle of friends, my brother and about 10-15 other people kept singing the chorus with full hearth and repeating it until everyone left and the cleanup crew came in to wipe the floors. It was such a magical moment. And i'm so happy to have seen LP live, and to have seen Chester live too. Never forget.
I'll never forget Chester, he's the one who made me love this kind of music. And in the end it does matter, because he saved so much lifes with his music but we couldn't save him, you'll be forever in our hearts. Thank you for everything, Chester.
There is not a single person in their 30's right now that never had LP make such an impact on their teenage life. Chester was my hero growing up, and LP helped shape who i am today, and for that i'm grateful. Legends may die, but are never forgotten. We miss you Chester.
I'm 26, and I grew up listening to Linkin Park, I used to scream along to Chester with my headphone's on, and my parents didn't like that at all, but I'm not ashamed.
I'm 19 almost 20, been listening to them since birth. I started singing In the End by age 1. If it wasn't for Linkin Park I probably wouldn't be a rock/metalhead. Thank you LP for putting me on the best music
I usually listen Linking Park with my dad because he like them so much ... now he is not with me anymore and listening this make nostalgic... miss you dad and miss you Chester
It's funny the amount of nostalgia this gives me, because it's like hearing this song again for the first time. It's disarming how the lyrics and sound are slightly off, and yet it's the same.
"One guy could save millions , but million couldn't save one." We will not forget you. We will love you. We will remember you. You will always live in our hearts, because... *LEGENDS NEVER DIE!*

Chester's vocals are definitely more rushed in this version and makes the chorus seem like it's out beat. Crazy hearing this after listening to the original so many times
Who would've known what the world would become; where you don't even require physical media, you can just stream it. Incredible that in practically 2022, I'm listening to a song that was only available to some of us that were part of The LPU. I felt like such a big deal whenever someone asked me why this song sounded different than the regular In The End track Lol. Those days of going to the Public Library just to use the computers that still hadn't transitioned from dial-up to DSL internet speeds just to interact with other LP fans, rocking my RCA portable CD-Player 24/7 thinking it was the greatest thing ever that you could play a CD (Hybrid Theory) on-the-go, looking for Anime Music Videos on-line since 80% of them used Linkin Park music, my friends debating on whether Linkin Park war rock/rap/emo Lol. Man I miss those days, and I'll miss Chester forever too.
“When my time comes, forget the wrong that I’ve done. Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed.” well they didn't do anything wrong..... We could never forget you.. ur music will keep inspiring the generations to come. Ur song will live onforever🙏🙏🙏🙏
This version seems to focus more on the rap part. Perhaps they intended to pass on messages and meaning literally, but it probably got changed to focus more on the chorus in order to be more impactful on the mass audience.
@@natrangsoy129 I wish I was born a few years before. I first listened to them when I was 7 yrs old I was living in Mexico at the time and didn't even know English but I instantly fell in love with their music. I'm now 23 years old and wasn't able to see them live. I came here 1 month after Chester's passing. Its funny because the meaning of the lyrics seems to change as I grow up, I feel like I'm now becoming mature enough to understand the real meaning behind some of the songs. RIP Chester.
You can literally hear Chester evolving the song into the one we know as the track goes on. His voice gets louder, clearer and crisper as the song goes on. Really cool. Mike's bars were sick too.
When Chester's voice started...I couldn't hold back my tears . Linkin park was there for me when I was most broken. Can't thank you enough for this . You guys are forever in my heart..
This version, with its different vocal takes and different bridge and verses, is perhaps not as good of a huge radio single like the final version was, but man, I feel like this one is just better. Perhaps it's just because I've heard it nowhere to as many times as the final song.
I thought about it and it is better because the rhymes are more sophisticated like for example "to the twilight/through the skylight/and the highlights" etc or stuff like "I get no break/fakes and snakes/quickly lead to mistakes". The release version is much more basic with what I would call simple house/mouse rhymes where only few or ones word at the end of the sentence rhymes ("in spite of the way you were mocking me/acting like I was part of your property/remembering all the times you fought for me")
This song will forever be a stepping stone in my life.. This song either pushed you to break limits or assisted you when you were down. There is always a way out! R.I.P Chester B. You'll always be remembered. ❤️
I put this song on my girlfriend's grave... As soon as she left the song started pouring torrential rain...I don't know if she cried with me. I wanted to stay there in the rain like a fool to cry with her, but it was raining hard and instinctively I ran away and after 10 steps the rain thinned and a blinding sun came out. I know, you're the one telling me not to be afraid, to stop crying... I miss you, but I know for sure now that you take care of me. I love you!
This demo was the beginning......... In the end Mike was able to write songs from Chester's perspective. They knew each other so well..... 💗💎 Love you Linkin Park 💗 🧚😊

I sadly couldn’t experience them live, as I was too young back in 2017…
I'll never forget Chester, he's the one who made me love this kind of music.

We're all sad that he is gone but really love that he was here
I'm 26, and I grew up listening to Linkin Park, I used to scream along to Chester with my headphone's on, and my parents didn't like that at all, but I'm not ashamed.
🙏
So True
I'm 19 almost 20, been listening to them since birth. I started singing In the End by age 1. If it wasn't for Linkin Park I probably wouldn't be a rock/metalhead. Thank you LP for putting me on the best music
I usually listen Linking Park with my dad because he like them so much ... now he is not with me anymore and listening this make nostalgic... miss you dad and miss you Chester

You can still check out those 2007-2010s uploads here in somewhat shitty quality. And another thing...this demo's actual title is "The Untitled".

*Lyrics*
[Intro]
It starts with one...
[Verse 1]
One, then multiplies 'til you can taste the sun
And burned by the sky you try to take it from
But if it falls, there's no place to run
Crumbling down, it's so unreal
They're dealing you in to determine your end
And sending you back again, to places you've been
And bending your will 'til it breaks you, within
And still, they fill their eyes
With the twilight through the skylight
And the highlights on a frame of steel
See the brightness of your likeness
As I write this on a pad with the way I feel
Hear the screaming in my dreaming
As it's seeming that you've played your part
Like you're heartless, take apart this
In the darkness, but I know that I've tried so hard
[Chorus]
I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end, it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end, it doesn't even matter
[Verse 2]
I've looked down the line
And what's there is not what ought to be
Held back by the battles they fought for me
Calling me to be part of their property
And now, I see that I get no chance
I get no break
Fakes and snakes quickly lead to mistakes
And as the tightrope within slowly starts to thin
I can only hope that they close their eyes
To the twilight through the skylight
And the highlights on a frame of steel
See the brightness of your likeness
As I write this on a pad to the way I feel
Hear the screaming in my dreaming
As it's seeming that you've played your part
Like you're heartless, take apart this
In the darkness, but I know that I tried so hard
[Chorus]
I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end, it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end, it doesn't even matter
[Bridge]
I've put my trust in you, pushed as far as I can go
For all this, there's only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you, pushed as far as I can go
For all this, there's only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you, pushed as far as I can go
For all this, there's only one thing you should know
[Chorus]
I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end, it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end, it doesn't even matter

I love this version. It’s more nuanced than the one on the album. And I dig Mike’s rhymes on this more.

The lyrics are more sophisticated. I love the final one but I can see how it had to be shortened to make it more pop and marketable.
@@kaindayee The official one is definitely more pop-y with much simpler rhymes and less nuanced lyrics. I definitely prefer this version.
1:34-1:53
In an alternate universe this is the hit song and not the demo
You mean not the final cut
A better universe
It wouldnt be a hit for sure, it's quite rough and unpolished
Chester's vocals are definitely more rushed in this version and makes the chorus seem like it's out beat. Crazy hearing this after listening to the original so many times
The mix is completely different. I heard this version a lot of time through the years but it still sounds like something was wrong.
I personally think the audio is a bit drowned out by the music track, but other than that it's pretty good. You both have good points though
I think what makes it weird is this drumming in the chorus.
When I first heard this, I started singing the original and stopped when I realized the lyrics were different.
Imagine putting this back as the original and the original you take it up in this section. I thought i still can find your comment. 🙃

This version seems to focus more on the rap part. Perhaps they intended to pass on messages and meaning literally, but it probably got changed to focus more on the chorus in order to be more impactful on the mass audience.

RIP Chester. 🙏
Always in our playlists.
The release version is much more basic with what I would call simple house/mouse rhymes where only few or ones word at the end of the sentence rhymes ("in spite of the way you were mocking me/acting like I was part of your property/remembering all the times you fought for me")
Linkin Park then.
Linkin Park now.
Linkin Park forever.
