I am praying so hard she nails it on the actual day. Her program is the most difficult and Mao is constantly pushing the sport by doing incredibly difficult skates. She footwork, spins, artistry, jumps are excellent. she is the full package. I hope she pushes on to get the gold. But even if she doesn't, I hope she will at least make it to the podium. Go Mao!
What i like about mao: She is willing to challenge herself, even there is big possiblility of making mistakes, she still does difficult jumps but not putting normal and stable jumps to win gold. She has great artistry. She knows that skating is not just jumps after jumps, she really makes the program to be a story, putting loads of emotions. She is brave. She faced lots of stuff: her dear mum passed away, always being compared with yuna kim, always being bullied by korean and korean media, facing problems of underotated jumps... She is so nice and polite (i know this isn't related to skating). Sometimes we can see her picking up flowers and gift which were thrown down by the audience. She is not picking up one or two, but helping to pick them all and clean up the rink. She is also being nice to her fans, she is just adrable. This is her very last skate. I hope she can put everything into it and skate well. Don't let nervousness to affect your performance, relax and do your best! a fan from Hong Kong P.S. sorry for the bad written language~
Yuna Kim is bullied by japanese and japanese media as well. They say Yuna as Yona which is naughty girl in japanese and Asada means kinda bright girl so they make fun of that indirectly that is why we are mad. We are not bullying, we are mad at their attitudes
@@user-lq6vh9py3s exactly.. I have never seen Korean media making false reports about Mao, just rude fans. Japanese media and fans are worse. if u search Yuna's name in Japanese, u will be horrified at the nasty things and videos made about her. all of which are fabricated and edited to make her seem like a villain
I hope Japanese people don't push her anymore. She is beautiful herself, she doesn't have to be compared with anyone, yuna or other skaters. She is she herself. And don't push her to become # 1 or get gold medal all the time. Because of her talent and effort, she is enough beautiful and impressive regardless of medals.
***** Try to understand the point. No athletes shouldn't be pushed too much. They are representing their country, but they have their own life and goal. The decent amount of pressure and attention might help them, but if it's too much, it might affect them in a negative way. Of course, it applies to other countries too. Whenever Korean newspapers said they expected a medal from yuna, I hoped her not to see all this careless newspapers and her to just focus on her program.
And THIS is the BEST bit of footwork that EVERYBODY's done, in a while!!! It's absolutely synchronized with the music, no hesitation, no mistake, Mao just feels the music... I'm impressed! She truly deserves to be on the podium this year, depending on her performance.
I like Mao and Lipnitskaia skating regardless of competition. Their skatings move me a lot. They have flexibility and skate smooth. They look like angels. They fascinate us more than the other skaters.
jan szulc she is legend already so no doubt to dealing with other skaters . She is a greatest female figure skaters of all time and her three triple axels in one competition had Guinness world record history already
She could have also scored higher just now if she didn't take that risk with the triple axel yesterday in the SP. AWW It would have been a great year for her..but I don't think we'll see the last of her since she won't be retiring just yet...
The most difficult Free program ever in the ladies figure skating history. If Mao Asada performs perfectly (or with small mistakes), she will win the gold medal.
I totally agree with you. Mao has the stunning footwork, beautiful spins, great edging, and this programme shows all of them with the hardest jump layput: 6 kinds of 8 triples. The only thing she needs is the consistence, but Asada is absolutely the best when she skates clean. I will rage if they place her behind someone like they did at 2010 Worlds >:(
But I think she screwed up the SP. So no gold, or medal at all...I believe that was the case. The FS was 🌠 perfect! "...Asada is absolutely the best when she skates clean..."
Mao's artistic and athletic genius was in this performance of her Sochi LP which should have set and still hold the world record score because of having 5 points higher in base value than Adelina and 9 points higher than Yuna. The fix against Mao was obvious because she was given bogus urs calls on rotated jumps when urs and edges were ignored for preferred skaters in the first group. The scores were also rigged because Mao had the greatest rink coverage by far indicating the greatest speed and more transitions and one-legged and swaying movements to her skating, yet she received a blatantly corrupt 5th place in the freeskate, when she should have been first, and an equally corrupt 6th place PCS when she should have won BOTH the tech score and PCS score by a lot. The IOC added another piece of evidence in the solid case for corruption against Mao when they posted a message that they had removed Mao's most watched Sochi LP video with about 3 million views done just before Mao was heavily deflated at Worlds 2016, while performances for those skaters more favored by the ISU at Sochi were not removed and when the AGAIN posted that they had removed a second copy with almost 3 million views in an Orwellian attempt to erase the memory of the performance by trying to throw it down the memory hole . Another video of Mao's Sochi LP with about 1.5 million views was also removed in addition to all her most watched videos with over 1 million views from Vancouver, Worlds 2016 and many more Sochi LP videos. This shows how the view counts are rigged just like the scores. The devious rationale of the IOC on behalf of the ISU is obvious: manipulate Mao's view count by deflating it heavily so that is will appear to be in agreement with her heavily deflated scores. Even another piece in the outstanding case for corruption is the training sabotage done by the traitorous JSF. The JSF forced Mao to train in a sandy, bitterly cold rink in Armenia at high elevation with a relative lack of oxygen which wreaked havoc with Mao's training during the Olympics by forcing Mao to sharpen her blades with a whetstone. Meanwhile, Mao's team's urgent requests to train in Japan and Russia as offered by Tarasova were cruelly refused. Furthermore, the JSF forced Mao to enter the team event with almost no chance of a medal that doesn't count much compared to an individual medal, even though she had been suffering from back pain that was so bad that she took off two weeks in early January. This put extra pressure for Mao to prepare for the Games in only about 3 weeks and then totally undermined her training after the team event. It is amazing that Mao was able to skate what I believe is the greatest freeskate I have ever seen given this sabotage but one can imagine that it is where the great passion, artistry, fire, sensitivity and defiant athletic mastery comes from. This is a person who has repeatedly been undermined by the system in favor of other skaters who have been scored far more generously scored like Yuna Kim, Adelina Sotnikova, Yulia Lipnitskaya, Gracie Gold and still but to a lesser extent Carolina Kostner in this competition. Finally, in other Olympic events like track and field and swimming it is the one great race, throw, jump or pole vault that wins, but in figure skating where scores are unjustly heavily manipulated for the long program which is 2/3 of the competition based simply on the SP, skaters are only given an overall gold. In addition to giving a gold for the LP, a gold should be given for the greatest LP performance and in this case Mao should have won this portion of the competition by a whole lot. The fact that this performance was not even given first (or second) place and no medal is one of the reasons figure skating has so little legitimacy to me. And while quite a few announcers mentioned how legendary this performance was, ISU mouthpieces like eurosport merely said that Mao had a disappointing Olympics.
Victor Gonçalves really? i really hope she would stay longer , wait and see, she has potential, even with no 3A her expression and the way she interprets her programme is just so amazing.
lucy lulu zeng, I agree with you. But I've heard something that she's really going to retire. You know, even though she's "young" (23), she's been competing for SO LONG! And I think Mao gets a little nervous and even stressed in the competitions, sometimes. So maybe she needs a rest, or some time away from Ice, just for her to think, to do something different.
That is funny xD both are great but at least in olympics yuna was in another level above mao (speaking about short and long program combined), mao was her own enemy with her mistakes unfortunately.
She still looked a little bit tired in here, but I am sure by the time of the real moment she will rise to the ocassion. So glad that she has a great run-through, and I really hope she can succeed in making that Guinness Record of having 8 triples of all 6 kinds in her programme. After all, in sports like figure skating and gymnastics, there are preferences as judges may not really buy your style or interpretation, so it is such a pity that artistic sports cannot be fair. However, technically, if you can do that skill, no one can take that away from you. No matter what the result is, I hope she will be proud of what she has achieved in her career.
SP was pity but She did on Free and show her ideal ,really ,wanted skating . This is practice ,but moving and can see"real her playing " so I want to admire her and want to give gold medal ...:'-( You are the best skater in my head. Please be proud of your skating life. Thank you Queen
有力選手の視聴数の高い動画を見つけては次々とdislikeをつけるのが日課の人たちがいるようですね。とても香ばしい。 There are some people pushing "dislike" everyday as soon as possible they watch the strong other skater's video. It's pity.
Oh my god, she is so good! So much speed and power. She might be the only one who can beat Adelina! No doubt Mao Asada and Adelina Sotnikova are the most beautiful legendary skaters in the history of figure skating. They are so much common in many ways... perfect technics, beautiful choreography, brilliant interpretations, powerful energy... Hope I can see both of you in next Olympics as a marvellous inspirer and a defending champion! XD
She is the best of all the current ladies, I like her better that Yuna kim,,,I loved her since she was a little girl. Jumps are good but its the flow she she has on ice I love the most. I wish she hadn't fell in the short program.
Alice Liao There is one purpose of skating or any other sports which is trying hard to exceed the physical limits and boundaries of human beings, that what is mao did for her whole skating life. For the artistry part, every one favors their own favor, I said mao's program is more touching and classical.
+Hanting Chen Because yuna was always much more than just jumps, she was very special and the judges knew it, she didn't have the support of a powerful nation with history in figure skating but at least her scores were always right, and you should thank her, because of those VERY unusual falls mao was able to beat her a couple of times ;)
too bad for the short, but what a come back with the beautiful long program. 3a, 3f-3l, 2a-3t, 8 triples, wow! wish she got a medal, but at least now I know she will be back for 2018.
really ?troy0515, i do hope Mao would not retire so soon, she still has lots and lots of potential,by which i mean, there is gonna be one day she could do her jumps as good as she dose in all those practise, which is when she is more strong and calm, emotionally
Because she messed up in the short programme unfortunately... I think she should've been first place in the free skate, though! Too bad Team Sato failed at peaking :( I also blame ISU for having team events BEFORE individual events, you know, she was one of the sacrifices. Anyway, now that Adelina is the Olympic champion and time is on CSKA side, I'd love Mao to work with Tarasova again (if she won't retire yet.)
@@sophiak4221 Unfortunately, she has corrected all her jumps since the Vancouver Olympics. Even the jumps she had the most difficulty with have improved. Her scores are always low, not because they're not textbook jumps, but mostly because they're judged to be lack of rotation. The FS in Sochi alone, if judged correctly, is definitely 1st!!
i just saw this video around the youtub, and want to say something. even though i'm korean, i don't judge her performs so easily. because i 'm not the professional one and also i know that she is good skating player. see those comments which is all dislike were clicked by yuna kim, i'm very sorry if this is true. but don't guess it so easily. it makes trouble between korean and japanese. and i don't want it.
Go Mao~~~!!! You've been landing beautiful 3As and skating clean many times in practice. You know you can do it! @Lord Jesus Did you know some ppl could see your Korean flag as well as your user name? Being a poor sport: That's called Korean style? xP
Tony Faxton Oh.. You totally misunderstand the whole situation :( ORIGINAL comment of @Lord Jesus is this : "Fail in final but success in practice. That called Asada's Magical. Good Luck" and he/she wrote a comment (written in Korean) on Yuna's practice clip : "한국선수권때보다 파워풀해진 모습에 기쁩니다. 안무의 디테일도 두세군데 수정됐네요. 아무쪼록 최고의 은퇴식이 되길 진심 기도합니다." I have a picture :)
Love Mao. She should have won the last time. And this time if she did not mess the short program, she could have had the gold. But Adelina skated fiercely and deserved it. Well if not Mao, I don't mind that the gold went to the Russian gal.
I like Mao Asada and I would be happy if it reaches a good result at the World Championships. But still, I can not understand her. Although the triple Axel is their best element, but it is very often went wrong. Over and over again to take that risk, I think that is wrong. She has so many opportunities and so often she lost. It costs so many points if this jump does not work. At the Olympics, she has once again ruined everything in the short program. At strong freestyle, she could have fought for a medal.
I know what you mean I used to feel the same way too. But I gradually changed my mind as I read Mao's interviews. She is an athlete to the fingertips and genuinely loves the sport, not a medal. For her, a medal without challenging her limits means nothing. And you can tell that Mao is doing right thing when you hear what both Mao and Yuna kim say after competitions. Mao is basically always content with what she is doing. On the other hand, Although Yuna has many medals, she's been constantly showing her uninterest/dislike for figure skating. After 2013 London World, She was asked by the Korean media how she felt about winning the title and she answered that she didn't feel anything special other than tired. After the Sochi Olys, She also answerd to the Korean media that she has no regrets about retiring at all because she's already come to dislike figure skating a long time ago and didn't even want to watch it, which I think is very sad. So I guess getting a medal isn't always everything. Maybe for fans, but not for skaters themselves.
ao zora That is true. I am, for example, for years a fan of Carolina Kostner. Even though she often had to struggle with her form, I was still happy every year to watch her programs. Sure, it's not all about medals, still it would be nice to be on the podium. And Mao Asada really has what it takes. I think it's just a shame that it's just so often gone awry.
N. WT. Carolina is a wonderful skater :) I can tell that she loves skating very much from her performances. Come to think of it, Mao and Carolina have some things in common to adore. Both of them have beautiful skating, have passion for skating(Mao, more athletic way and Carolina, more artistic way I guess) and have ups and downs in their careers but still fascinate us to watch. Mao in the Sochi Olys reminds me of how Carolina was in the Vancouver Olys. I am so happy for Carolina that she bounced back from the setback and made it to the podium this time. As for Mao, she's already said that she'd skate with the same jump layouts as Sochi's in the coming World. So all we can do is to pray! ;) But yes, it would be nice to see both Mao and Carolina on the podium in Saitama.
Have you ever seen her skate live? I don't get what you mean to say "long distance," but she has enough hight on her jumps and rotates amazingly fast in the air, and her strength isn't all about the jumps: STUNNING FOOTWORK!
Солнышка It's true her footwork is pretty nice. But, as a person who watched Yuna and Mao's competitions in real, I think Junewoo is talking abt Mao's distance and height for her jumps are not that long and high comparing to Yuna's. And it is true for sure...
Beomki Lee So what? Yuna can't jump 3A, 3Lo and 2A-3T etc that Mao can, which makes Yuna's base value incredibly low for a top skater. I find it funny that Korean ppl love to pick on others faults but are so blind to their own faults.
ao zora Please stop comparing Mao with Yuna, it weirds me out... Just talking about huge jumps, Carolina's are better IMO. No one ever beat Midori Ito, though! xD I mean you don't need to mention Kim: she doesn't even have 7 triples of all kinds in the LP, which many more young ladies are doing these days.
Солнышка Wow, I was just mentioning Yuna to help you understand what Junewoo might want to say. Btw, Yuna is the defending Olympic champion, which means she might be the current standard for every skaters. Why shouldn't I mention her? Her skating can be compared to anybody. Just in this case, it was Mao, That's it. Plus, you are right, she does not have loop and triple axle jump, but she is a very rare skater because her every jump is always with the perfectly right edge, which many young ladies are missing today.
***** Your comment tells it all! Mao`s LP was the SENSATION of this Olympics! Pretty much everyone was on their feet because they knew they saw a performance of a QUEEN! A COME BACK queen!
A passionate skater.
She did this brilliantly at the Olympics. No medal can compare.
I am praying so hard she nails it on the actual day. Her program is the most difficult and Mao is constantly pushing the sport by doing incredibly difficult skates.

Goosebumps
Мао - перфекционистка, ей мало медали, ей надо раздвинуть границы возможного. Только там становятся легендами. Восхитительная!
Under the old 6.0 scoring system, she would have won gold in Vancouver 2010, hands down.
真央さん、頑張ってください!!みんな味方です!!
Thank you
we love Mao!!٩(๑˙╰╯˙๑)۶ ³₃
真央ちゃん感動をありがとう♡♡♡♡♡
まおちゃんのラフマニノフ、すごく楽しみです! がんばって起きるから!
Bring it on! You can do it!
beautiful !
この時点ですでにあのオバサン沢庵より上。
泣きそう。
有力選手の視聴数の高い動画を見つけては次々とdislikeをつけるのが日課の人たちがいるようですね。とても香ばしい。
There are some people pushing "dislike" everyday as soon as possible they watch the strong other skater's video. It's pity.
Gambateeeee, Mao!!!
Go!!! Mao♥
Asada mao , 그녀는 최선을 다하였고 멋진 연기를 보여주었습니다.
XD
LOL.
頑張れ~^^
納得の演技が出来ますように!
GOO MAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
She is the best of all the current ladies, I like her better that Yuna kim,,,I loved her since she was a little girl. Jumps are good but its the flow she she has on ice I love the most. I wish she hadn't fell in the short program.
And Im American,,,they both are excellent skaters,,but it it something about Mao that just tears at my heart when she skates.
112 dislike just yuna kims fans!
Alice Liao because Japanese not recognized Kim is better skater than Mao
Mac Millan ahahahahahaha mao asada 3 time world champion why yuna kim 2?? and mao asada queen of triple axel. yuna can do triple axel?
Alice Liao There is one purpose of skating or any other sports which is trying hard to exceed the physical limits and boundaries of human beings, that what is mao did for her whole skating life. For the artistry part, every one favors their own favor, I said mao's program is more touching and classical.
***** How dark it is to be darker than 150+ given before the other competitive skater finishing her program?
+Hanting Chen Because yuna was always much more than just jumps, she was very special and the judges knew it, she didn't have the support of a powerful nation with history in figure skating but at least her scores were always right, and you should thank her, because of those VERY unusual falls mao was able to beat her a couple of times ;)
I like both yuna and mao.different skaters but both are talented. Its her vs yuna at sochi. Julia is great too.
ついに今日明日やね。まおちゃん頑張れ!!
Go Go Mao Mao Go Mao Mao !!😘💖😘💖
Who's the skater in the black gloves who almost runs into Mao 4 times? lol
ついに今日やね。まおちゃん頑張れ!!
Go Go Mao Mao Go Mao Mao!! 😘💖😘💖
too bad for the short, but what a come back with the beautiful long program. 3a, 3f-3l, 2a-3t, 8 triples, wow! wish she got a medal, but at least now I know she will be back for 2018.
really ?troy0515, i do hope Mao would not retire so soon, she still has lots and lots of potential,by which i mean, there is gonna be one day she could do her jumps as good as she dose in all those practise, which is when she is more strong and calm, emotionally
lucy lulu zeng what did you think I wrote? Im saying that she will be back for sure, for 2018
oh sure i get that, it is just too amazing to believe :-)
troy0515 OMG! Are you serious? I CAN'T believe it! If this is the true, it's pretty much the BEST news I've received in a while!
隣国の方が必死で低評価を押しているようです^^
meryy naowe お疲れ様でーす。(*^_^*)
meryy naowe お疲れ様でーす(^O^)b
This was 5 years ago but all those girls getting in the way of that golden stsq 😠
STEP
Why can't she get a gold medal too despite her stuff up?
Because she messed up in the short programme unfortunately... I think she should've been first place in the free skate, though! Too bad Team Sato failed at peaking :( I also blame ISU for having team events BEFORE individual events, you know, she was one of the sacrifices.
Anyway, now that Adelina is the Olympic champion and time is on CSKA side, I'd love Mao to work with Tarasova again (if she won't retire yet.)
Because her jump is not a textbook jump.So her score is less than any podium ladies
Google user Oh my god ,, My English is so bad. lol
I’m Yuna k fans Love ya
real winner!
The opening 3A is gorgeous 👏
This is a great program.
真央ちゃん頑張れ!
@3:32 that was a near hit wasn't it?
i just saw this video around the youtub, and want to say something. even though i'm korean, i don't judge her performs so easily. because i 'm not the professional one and also i know that she is good skating player. see those comments which is all dislike were clicked by yuna kim, i'm very sorry if this is true. but don't guess it so easily. it makes trouble between korean and japanese. and i don't want it.
You totally misunderstand the whole situation :(
ORIGINAL comment of @Lord Jesus is this :
"Fail in final but success in practice. That called Asada's Magical. Good Luck"
and he/she wrote a comment (written in Korean) on Yuna's practice clip :
"한국선수권때보다 파워풀해진 모습에 기쁩니다. 안무의 디테일도 두세군데 수정됐네요. 아무쪼록 최고의 은퇴식이 되길 진심 기도합니다."
I have a picture :)
Tony Faxton
Yeah, as XD said in his/her reply to you, I think you misunderstood me. I just replied a korean person who made a mannerless comment.
I want to have a skater's body...so slender and long...
hi, please the name of the song?
Love Mao. She should have won the last time. And this time if she did not mess the short program, she could have had the gold. But Adelina skated fiercely and deserved it. Well if not Mao, I don't mind that the gold went to the Russian gal.
Mao... ♥ ♥
my dream podium
mao
yuna
wagner or kostner
So sad... Hope she could do this in competition
55... poor asada but good try
her jumps are difficult but not high and long distance.
Beomki Lee
So what?
Plus, you are right, she does not have loop and triple axle jump, but she is a very rare skater because her every jump is always with the perfectly right edge, which many young ladies are missing today.
kinda funny now seeing the comments posted before olympics, not one person considering adelina would win gold.
***** Your comment tells it all! Mao`s LP was the SENSATION of this Olympics! Pretty much everyone was on their feet because they knew they saw a performance of a QUEEN! A COME BACK queen!
she had a horrible performance in the SP today! 16th place
