Checking in on the views here a lil over a month later and just wanted to say thank you so much for all the love and support on this crazy little short we made!! I have really appreciated all the kind messages/comments, especially all the people mentioning ever working a job like this. Years workin at the gas station/convenience store made me the woman I am 😂❤

Honestly. The possum dude seems way chiller than actull customers. I worked at a dollar general and it was rare that customers were that chill about not having stuff in stock

As someone who respects those in retail, seriously you guys are freaking champions, I’m usually pretty chill about thing’s getting taken off. I just shrug it off as a bummer.

I really love the detail of one of the cat's heads being happy and sweet, while the other is abrasive.

Yeah. It's refreshing. Super "organic" looking (instead of that too clean Family Guy-esque look) and not ugly like some "adult" shows can be.

oh I don't think Sarah Mae Schmidt made this with a show in mind because she makes a lot of fun shorts that she posts to her channel! I came here because she released Vegeversary which was like a year in the making if you wanna see more of her

I love these sorts of cultural shorts. Really takes you into the life of rural/suburban America. The gas station. A place every citizen must visit multiple times through their lives. What a beautiful thing

I love the artstyle, i also enjoy how its sort of fast paced with almost no jokes and such just sort of a cartoony version of real life. I honestly love this a lot and want this to be a series.

I love the mix of "entirely relatable experiences working in retail" with surreal visuals. Excellent short! I can't wait to see these animators' future work.
Such as breaking down empty boxes and working the dolly for resupplying inventory.
The fact that the boss is literally two separate heads and one is customer service personality and the other is vexed manager personality
this is so real. i worked at a gas station for 3 or 4 years and the intro is pretty much how my first week felt. i believe the words “this cart is everything that needed to be stocked yesterday” were said to me exactly.

It's accurate but exaggerated, the art style is expressive but simple, and it's even relatable to our customer service workers out there. Just. Make. This. A. Series. Please.

That opossum is that customer that comes in every day that you love to hate, and you hate to love. This show has some real potential.
You know what...I'd totally watch this if this became a series. As someone who worked in retail, this is very relatable.

I just realized that the manager's two heads have two different sleep cycles. That's how he manages to seem "fully rested" after working all night. He is literally the other head.

0:13 i like how the moment the girl puts the coal bag on the shelf the guy from the drawing passes from angry to default.
2:19 - Y'know having worked at a place for a long time and experiencing massive amounts of working off of extremely minimal amounts of sleep this is an extremely accurate depiction of a tried and true veteran alongside a fresh newbie on turnaround or super early shifts.
I love these types of animations in cartoons. It lets your imagination go wild and there’s no limit to your creativity whatsoever.
I go to gas stations all the time, endless opportunities for stories right there alone.
Loved the specific sound design. Hope Sarah gets more money to make stuff like this short!

I keep re-watching this. There's something so entertaining about this style and character interaction, almost addictive.

Returning to this months later and I JUST noticed the songs on lulu's phone at 1:45 are actual songs but just worded differently!!!
First one is "Send the Pain Below" by Chevelle and the 2nd one is Placebo's cover of "Running Up that Hill." Lulu has great taste in music

This video reminds me so much of when I worked at Walmart in kinda a bitter sweet way. I don't miss the odd hours and unruly customers, but I do miss the chill bosses and talking to coworkers while working.

The concept that the (literal) seamese cat has two heads and one of em is always sleeping and they take turns in day and night shift is brilliant

Just realized the cat guy switches heads from time to time, you can also kinda hear the voice change, with the blue one having a more high pitch voice and the red one having a deeper voice. Also they usually switch depending on the situation

Hate when all the good animations are always shorts, theses artists deserve entire shows, even if they did cost a fortune to produce, but they already have AS posting their stuff here.

Working at customer service (winery and brews store), I've discovered that I find a sort of bliss in stuff like this: when the customers are pleased to find some products they've been looking for a while, and the content of knowing you're the person who could aid find it specifically
Idk it's very mundane but one of the few things that make the job a bit worth it (that and getting paid lol)
I love this animation its just simply good like the slice of life and a - normal - day at work scene. nothing unexpected weird going on. I do also love the style of the animation its like imperfect drawing, just like the mutant mayhem from tnmt.
