- www.GuitarBandD... presents guitar master John Pisano playing at his house. He has played on tons of hit records with Sergio Mendes, Herb Alpert, Diana Krall to name a few. John did not know the camera was on and was playing his hand carved Eastman John Pisano signature model for me. He's played on the same billing as The Beatles, recorded with Herb Ellis, Joe Pass and trading licks with so many great jazz players you can't count. There is so much soul and experience in his playing he really is a national treasure.
What a great rendition of "I Remember You"!!!!! J.P. you're at the top in my book.
Some may remember that Frank Ifield had a vocal hit of this song in 1962. I remember it because my sister had the 45 rpm record.
Wisdom, experience and musicianship in service of musical expression. This is especially inspiring to us older players who want to keep developing and improving. Thanks for posting.
He's deep in the pocket with this one. .
Being able to play what you hear in your head is just so, so freaking hard. A few rarities can do that. Pass was one. Pisano is another.
Think in terms of intervals...
It's hard but nothing you can't achieve with practice
I love watching someone play exactly what they are humming to themselves.
Great as always.
Everytime I see John Pisano I remember of my old friend Joe. They played together a lot n were good friends as well.
Thanks for sharing.
what a treasure . this man is a true great .. and a real part of musical historical significance .. kibda sounds like Lennie Breau at bit in the voicing
I came here after watching the movie (Sweet Smell of Success). My understanding is he was The one who provided the actual guitar playing in the movie.
this dude is a master at the guitar.. sounds real nice..
Absolute legend!!!
RIP Mr. Pisano .....Godspeed.
I love John Pisano... I remember him mostly from his tenure with Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass
many years i i had a guitorgan for sale . John came to my place in malibu (paradise cove)calif. to check it out . in about an hour of messin with it,he had it down pretty good . he didn't buy it though . he had long dark hair then and so did i . LOL !
This snipet is a master class in chord chemistry.
It's so beautiful to see how human mind and feelings create sense from a piece of wood and iron.
Thanks so much for this. What a treat to see.
joe pass knew how good john is. Hey all of them are great!!
Whoa! Thanks for the upload!!
Beautiful.
Beautiful stuff, interesting that he's using roundwounds though (I presume due to the scratching sound), I find that string movement sound is impossible to negate when doing a lot of changes in jazz.
John, super master of masters.!
Beautiful! Thanks for posting this.
Grandioso , vera chitarra jazz....
I remember you is the song. And I don't like the sound of the guitar unplugged either. John turns his volume nob down when he plays. I think it sounds like a flat top to me as well. But I am in love with that laminate top and flat wounds sound. John is amazing and always searching for something new to play in his solos.
I remember you
@stratoman Its "I Remember You"
I remember you!
@ridofmenyc thanks, I filmed it in his home studio
I have discovered him now just because of his name in Ted Greene's Spotify bio who is underrated himself.
QUE BUEN GUSTO ,... SE NACE ,ES USTED UN MAESTRO FEKICITACIONES
JUAN GENESY JAZZ
Very nice indeed! It's very relaxing to listen to and cured my anxiety . How old is John? If you don't mind me asking so? thanks!
This is disgusting!! The greatest guitar player you never heard of. All those great recordings with Joe Pass, Herb Alpert, etc... What a genius, and probably a pretty nice guy as well.
He was my hero and friend. I learned tons of his moves!
The perfect symbiosis between a man and his instrument (no pun intented... :) )
Thanks for posting !!!
5*
Is that plugged or unplugged? Sounds great.
Grande
cool
I will send him an email and ask him what he is playing over.
kewl!
@EXP0SEtheFRAUDS this was not even a performance...he was noodling and did not know I had turned the camera on...it was in between breaks when I interviewed him for my blog
600 🎊
cool : )
wow...i really...|REALLY need to practace more...
@stratoman It sounds like "I remember you."
Because it is. Funny thing though, I just paid attention to the harmony on It's The Same Old Dream instead of Sinatra's incredible reading. The changes are almost identical to There Will Never Be Another You.
@EXP0SEtheFRAUDS so this is now a competition? not constructive. this guy is a master and so was tal.
A beautiful cat. Nice rendition.
If you didn't sound good with him backing you up.
Then you can hang it up.
I got to hang with him and Joe Pass between
sets on some gigs. Great human being.
His CD with his wife called "Flying Pisanos".
is a lesson in how to back a singer.
He is overdue for some of the limelight.
@stratoman Don´t bother answering stupids. They don´t understand. Is a great video! From Brazil
It is not a specific song. He is improvising.
I did not give you a thumbs down.
Farlow style
It sounds like "Misty"
Geez I hope that's not the plugged in sound.
Ron
guitron45 What's wrong with it? Sounds like an acoustic archtop
guitron45 beautiful archtop acoustic sound
I'm pretty sure it's Misty...
I'm pretty sure you need to study your standards.
