  • Second Chance Ohana presents their first ever ASMR video as this Old Cabinet gets new life. Yep, Dani and Sherry generally like to talk but in this video, Dani is (mostly) silent and Mom is working on another project. So, sit back and enjoy the soothing sounds and sights as Dani gives new life and a Second Chance to this old cabinet found at the thrift store.

    Aloha! We are always trying out different ways to keep our furniture refinishing and videos fresh. In this video, we are not adding narration nor music. And like everything we try, we WANT to hear YOUR FEEDBACK! Please let us know what you like about it and what what you don't. We APPRECIATE your thoughts! Mahalo, Dani and Sherry🤗

      @@secondchanceohana ASMR and voiceover videos are both hard to do! They are each challenging in their own way. I think it's awesome you went outside your comfort zone, even if you don't like the style. Now you know! I personally love ASMR style videos, but you should do what you love! I will be watching no matter what

    Of course the piece came out brilliantly. But I prefer your narration to sound of an orbital sander or surf prep. I hear enough that noise on my own. I will say, I didn't notice it here, but I do love the sound of a clicking paint brush at 10x (or whatever) speed. I'm really interested in what you two have to say.

    • @secondchanceohana
      @secondchanceohana  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much, Laura! Haha ... there were a lot of places that Pops had to edit the sounds because I was talking to family members as I was working. (That might be one reason we do so much narration.) 🤗😍

    If I start the comment out with "no offense..." is it going to tighten your shoulders and make you more guarded? Well, let's give it a try.
    No offense, but this wasn't an ASMR video - it was simply an un-narrated video. If you want to try ASMR you have to pay attention to all the sounds - and narrow focus to the sound in particular. So, perhaps eliminating background noise wherever possible, putting the microphones directly on the tools near where friction/vibration (and therefore sound) is being created is a god way to start. Another idea is to narrow the focus of the camera (or setting up multiple cameras) to the particular space being addressed.
    Another way to do it would be to simply record the sounds and the video separately then use editing software to overlay the more pointed sounds, possibly smoothed out for relaxation, over the actual video. This would give the soundscape more depth without affecting your video / image style.
    Just suggestions.
    Think of it this way, if I turn off the video and just concentrate on the sounds... am I going to relax or get distracted? Is the soundscape focused or broad? Are there interruptions, abrupt changes or clashing background noises / music interfering.
    Yes, this is meant to be critical - but only in the sense that you suggested this as ASMR and wanted feedback. It is not meant to be negative... simply feedback. I hope it is taken in the manner in which it is meant and not in offense. Cheers.

    • @secondchanceohana
      @secondchanceohana  2 роки тому

      Hello Hetshepsuit! No offense taken, you offer very valuable feedback and we really appreciate it. We recognize that we did not hit the mark of a quality ASMR video and that to do so would be outside our time constraints at this point. It is much more time consuming than we realized. We thought it would be fun to do both ASMR and narrated videos but for now, we will stick with narrated videos. Thanks very much for watching and for your honest feedback!🤗
