- Welcome back to another video! Here's a little net repair, hanging out at the dock, and leaving for our second trip of the season. We fish for pollock out of dutch harbor Alaska. Hope you enjoy the video!
Issue with audio around 2:40 so I had to trim it out. Appreciate you all watching!
That sunset is absolutely stunning and a rainbow! Thank you for sharing that🙏🏻
Watching you all the way from South Africa!!! Beautiful content bro❤❤❤
Loving the vlogs Jakob, keep 'em coming!
Appreciate the videos Jakob. Really gave us an insight on what commercial fishing in Alaska is like. And Christian's definitely a good addition to the content :D
Thank you!!
Your job looks difficult. Thanks for sharing. I heard it can be dangerous too. Wishing you the best.
Really enjoying these videos man, hope you keep it up! I've always been interested in this line of work, you gotta hire me bro! Hahaha
Awesome stuff love the content keep it up
Appreciate it!
saw the zyns broo ahahaha
Love the vlogs man, keep em coming pls 🫡
More to come!
Everyone hates draggers till they got to buy bait lol. I’m a lobster and long liner fishermen in Canada, love the content!!
You’re a lobster????
Thanks man! Thats awesome, stay safe out there
@@duck7194😂😂😂😂
have some respect. If your were a lobster would you want everyone pointing and staring at you.
Mid water trawls always look like a big mess. Digging the content man, makes me miss working on the water
Bro I want to try this so bad!
Been eating pollock in the fish sticks from the store it’s actually not bad
How do you unload all of it. And where does that fish go. Does it go to feed other fish we eat or what.
Doesn’t crabbers use your fish for bait?
I’ve become a fan but I don’t know what kind of fish those are or what they are used for
@jakobolaviensen What do you guys do with fish you caught but your storage is full?
They most likely release them
Once it's to a certain capacity I'm sure they stop dragging gear
So what fish you normally go for when catching?
Pollock!
Why are there so many different ropes and chains?
What happens to the fish that dont go into the hold?
he needs to cook up them biscuits and gravy.
Good
Which vlog camera do you use !?
I use a GoPro, cannon M6, G7X, and my iPhone 😂
How much you get for 1 kilo fish
And how long are you on the sea for 1 trip
We fish in the north sea at flat fish total different we fish like 4 hour work 3 hour 1 hour off can you show wat your work time is like
how much is that haul of fish worth?
What fish are you catching?
Pollock!
Next time you’re in Scottsdale AZ let’s go hit lake pleasant so you can learn to catch a fish
😂😂😂
Cringe man.
How many hours do you guys fish?
Depends how long it takes the fish to swim into it. There are sensors that show lights at the wheelhouse so the captain knows when there fish to haul
When I was working on a trawler I had 14 hour shifts with 10 hour breaks, some trawlers do 8 hours on duty 8 hours off, some boats to 6 hours on 6 hours off and some boats just do day tours where you go out until the boat is full, so could be 6 hours could be 18.
But yeah you return to land when either the boat is running out of fuel or it’s full of fish.
I want to go I don't get sea sick
How much does this guy make as a salary from this job
OMG you need to learn on how to mend a net🤷♂️
This is Knotless so I can’t cut it out like a normal net
Fishing for 25 years definitely can mend knotless net😂
I am working for you too 10 you in Pakistan but you have pushing trolley and our pacing trolley does not matter. We have very hard work and you guys have very easy work. People catch fish in the sea for two months, the rest of you people don't like how many days you stay in the sea
Do you ever get land sick bro I was out sea just for two weeks and felt like 💩 wants wants I hit the ground 😂😂😂😂
Start on a 3 bar end on a 3 bar really easy once you figure out the pattern on how to mend net
Yep this is knotless though so I can’t trim it out
Lace that shiii😂😂
i’m hopefully gonna be on a longliner up there soon
Sick vids man, should make more
Love the vids
What happens to all the fish on the deck? Do you just leave them there until you unload?
Cover with ice until we offload 👍🏼
Love the content bro this channel is going places!
Thank you! More content coming soon
Maybe a dumb question but what do you fish for/catch? Just curious.
It's pollock
@@cchhiicckkeenn1353 cool. Thank you!
You should voice more what you're doing on the ship. As someone who understands nothing about the lines and hooks I'd be interested to learn what purpose those things have.
What happens if all the fish don't fit in the holes?
I want work on the boat. Are you guys hiring ?
Hell yeah keep it up brother
Keep the vids coming
What happened to all the fish up on the deck still?
After we finish putting as much as we can into the tanks, we cover the entire thing with ice and then with tarps before offloading
I know being on a big boat in Alaska is a lot different from what I'm used to on rec boats in the Gulf... but for me with taking Dramamine, I always start it the night before I go out to give it time to get into my system and then take another when I get up in the morning, at least a couple hours before leaving dock
Same ya better off taking them on land
Hi Jakob, to which plant are you delivering the fish in Dutch? Unisea or Westward?
I think he said Unisea on a previous video
How many people are actually on the boat?
4 of us
Hi Jakob…Was wondering 🤔 why you guys have never upgraded to a knuckle crane?🏗️
It’s not really necessary for us!
