I've been working in photoshop for well over 20 years. It stresses me out when someone wants to know everything about photoshop. lol There's just no way. I feel like midjourney is getting to that point. All the features and the possibilities has my brain reeling. Whoa. This is so cool.
I feel the same way about Canva. It is getting as complex as Photoshop. As far as Midjourney....if everything would work as should I may say ok it is worth my time but many times that is not the case.
I've been using Photoshop since version 5.5 (back in the 90's). Every time I see a UA-cam video that says "Learn Photoshop in 10 Minutes!!!", I laugh. It took me forever just to wrap my brain around the concept of layers. But now with all of these AI tools coming out at light speed, I feel like I'm right back at the beginning trying to understand it all. And for some reason, I always feel like I'm using it wrong.

I am not sure if you covered this, but you can open a png with no background and with zero effort it will put the item in the image and match the lighting. I am in love.
I'm looking forward to finding time to experiment with the editor, but I can already tell it will be useful professionally - Photoshop’s generative fill is good-not-great; Midjourney’s superior prompt understanding and better rendering quality will dramatically improve comps.
Great video. Love it. I think people will know this but it’s worth saying anyway: even if you use a high resolution image in the editor, the output is still limited to the output size of the editor (plus upscaling if you choose that option).
Great update, you would think it would have the same moderation as the main mid-journey, but its way worse, it refused to give " a beautiful girl sitting on a couch with a dog" the uploaded image was of a dog sitting on a grass lawn.
This is an overpowered update for Midjourney. I think there are many more potential things people can do with these two: For the editor, Midjourney makes it possible to piece images together seamlessly by re-editing the place where the pictures join; For the retexturing, people can now embed any characters and symbols into an image thanks to its deep control( I think it’s this name?) function. In all, huge thanks to Midjourney’s new feature and you introducing this to letting more people know!
Honestly this feature is the real deal and makes for 50% of the value of MJ. If there was a mj earlier we could call it v1 and this is equal to v2 in terms of how much it expands the possibilities.

I create repeating patterns for craft projects and work with --tile a lot. Midjourney is one of the few generators that can make seamless repeating images. This is going to be a huge step up over regional variations for fixing odd placement along edges (where they can't be easily tweaked) that MJ sometimes coughs up
I signed up for the free course preview, but it only explains what the course is about. Consider adding **panning & zoom** as part of the preview to give potential buyers like myself a better visual idea of the course structure, how it’s presented, explained, and if it’s interactive. I’m ready to pay $99 or more, but I want to make sure it’s not just content I could find on UA-cam for free. Hope you understand, thanks for reading.
Has anyone else noticed a big problem with Midjourney's new editor? I find that if I do too many iterative edits, using the previous edit as a starting point for the next one, it doesn't take long to start seeing massive jpeg artifacts. The quality of the image seems to degrade with each new edit. This does not happen with the old editor. It only happens in the new editing workspace. For me, it makes the new editor unusable.

Try creating a close up portrait (just to make the problem easy to see), do several iterative edits, using the previously edited version as the new starting point, and then look at the current version of the image. It should look much worse than the original (unless I'm the only one with the problem).
@@FutureTechPilot I just tried it again. I created a close-up portrait of a woman with freckles, then did 3 random iterative edits. Even though none of the edits were of her face, by the time I finished the third edit, she had no freckles left. The entire image changes slightly, slowly degrading, with each edit.
I tried the editing features but it doesn’t work at all most of the time. I made a spaceship and erased an area on the side of the ship and asked it to add a window but it never does. What am i missing?
Thanks so much for all your amazing videos! The automated moderation system is completely broken-it seems to be misidentifying content way too many times. I’ve noticed that some innocent and appropriate renders are getting flagged and hidden( a few of the grayed out renders are visible when clicked), while actual inappropriate content is slipping through. Even as the images are being rendered percentage-wise one can see there is clearly nothing inappropriate about them. The AI moderator should be more sophisticated by now instead of just choosing random objects as inappropriate elements. Luckily I have a large monitor I can screenshot and upscale but the amount of grayed out renders that are still viewable when clicked are few. It looks like the system could use some fine-tuning to improve accuracy. Changes in prompts only work sometimes. I feel like we are being stripped of viable material from a paid subscription.

Im hoping they do what adobe showcased, where u can take any person and place it in the scene and it fixes shadows and light... Maybe they need to add transparency in the future. They’re starting to be some crossover with Photoshop. Photoshop isn’t nearly as good at creating images from scratch, but it’s great at generative expand, removal, sky replacement, or minor accents.
Actually I am a PRO monthly subscriber uninterrupted for almost two years now and MJ said I can have this feature ONLY if I switch to yearly subscription. It is very disappointing

I love the retexturing option, but how does the actual editor differ from the current editor? That's what Im mostly interested in. Looking from the outside in, it doesn't seem to change much. Im not a big fan of the MJ editor as it isn't too accurate for my taste (even with ref images, great prompts, etc). I'd like to know if this editor is "more accurate". If not, and it's around the current one....I'll stick with my monthly subscription.

Iam trying to color in a line drawing which it does, but it subtly changes the intial black outline. I was hoping to comp the two versions together in Photoshop but the slight variances means it doesn't quite work. Be nice if you could lock the initial image in

No unfortunately, consistency is still pretty difficult. I mean, you can try and it might work eventually. But there is no easy way to do it and that's why I have to warn you
@@FutureTechPilot that’s true. It’s phenomenal at text. Wish we had a ranking list of the current best tools for things like inpainting, text, people realism, etc. Especially as it seems that having multiple tools will be the way to go
The second image you showcase is using a "cute image of a dog you found on Google". Did you actually do the work to see if the image was not copyrighted? Usually, when people "find something on Google" they don't click through to the actual source to check.
love it, do you know if midjourney has a collaborative method? like inviting people to create with you? I know one could do it through discord and a private server, but not sure about the web.
Are the images we upload private though? I asked MJ today just that question and they said that ALL images generated by them are available for others to see and regenerate upon.
Like if you make a public prompt using an image you uploaded, that picture will show up if someone finds the resulting generation. Does that make sense?
Though I love this editor, one of the issue that has been brought to the forefront with the new moderation system, the current Midjourney models tend to produce the occasional nudity when creating portraits without the user asking for it. The new moderation system in the new editor catches this better, thus why you will get the error "Creation failed, Sorry. while the prompt you have entered was deemed safe, the generated image may fall outside our community guidelines. No fast hours will be charged." this is a bit frustrating that it is taking harmless images and failing the generation. Whats going on here is Midjourney is producing the nudity and the moderation system is catching it, the user is doing nothing wrong, it's a bit ironic how mid journey is heavily censored it is. There's been a few times I've resubmitted, then it finally produces the image, just hope V7 will fix this.

@@FutureTechPilot I still cannot get it. My screen is different to yours as it shows Aspect Ratio etc on the left but there is no export option below it. If I click create, I just get back to a gallery of images I created earlier not in the editor. So I basically have an image in the editor I want to save but there appears to be no way of doing it
@@FutureTechPilot No. I ended up screenshotting , Then I tried the retexturing and the upscale and download options were there. So I just located my edited pictures and when in the retextured area could download them as is
With 6.1 and my personalization code I get lots of cleavage and not infrequent partial or full nudity on more than 50% of the sci-fi/fantasy women I prompt for (usually without trying to specify anything about their clothing). However as expected, trying to import an MJ generated sketch of one such woman into the editor, was of course denied.

@@FutureTechPilot I managed to get a generation by using the prompt enhance tool. When the instructions were more clear... MJ would produce results... when I left it quite open... it seemed to shut down
Thank you for you efforts and useful tips along with office hour updates but hoping that someone from midjourney watches your video or maybe you get a chance to ask it as a question in some office hours, i would like to know when is midjourney going to do something about image quality. I have been a long time supporter of midjourney but for quite a while now they are acting like nokia of the past. While i appreciate new features here and there, the quality of images , specially in version six are not good for most part unless you are making an art style. Most of the time images are overbaked, full of artifacts and many other issues like disfigured faces hands etc. I am not a newbie and i know how prompting works but still there is too much fight to get a decent image regularly without errors specially photorealistic images. I hope they come out of their wokeness and improve the product like their competitors and not waste time talking philosophies every week.
censorship will kill midjourney why the hell should i care about this when flux is better quality and uncensored so i can make whatever the hell i want
The criteria to use this are absurd. Still no point in generating AI images for their 'artistic' value but remains a decent tool when you need a custom image or graphic.

In the end, your focus was in the background, I recommend using manual focus, or removing images of people from the background :)

No it's basically the same! But you can edit non-Midjourney pictures with the new editor. That might be important to some people!
Any word on 2 or more consistent characters in a image we create that would be great for film making

Looks really exciting. How does censorship work? I am a photographer and edit a lot of model photos. Adobe censors almost every photo
MJ won't be much better at the moment. It's essentially limited to PG results for now, but those restrictions might loosen in the future

Hmmm ... no . I don't think you would love the results necessarily. But I think we can see a more consistent object feature sometime next year
Though I love this editor, one of the issue that has been brought to the forefront with the new moderation system, the current Midjourney models tend to produce the occasional nudity when creating portraits without the user asking for it. The new moderation system in the new editor catches this better, thus why you will get the error "Creation failed, Sorry. while the prompt you have entered was deemed safe, the generated image may fall outside our community guidelines. No fast hours will be charged." this is a bit frustrating that it is taking harmless images and failing the generation. Whats going on here is Midjourney is producing the nudity and the moderation system is catching it, the user is doing nothing wrong, it's a bit ironic how mid journey is heavily censored it is. There's been a few times I've resubmitted, then it finally produces the image, just hope V7 will fix this.

Thanks for this. I am having trouble getting to the export button when I have a lot of images. Scrolling down stops at my first image. Anyone else experiemncing this or can help me out

@@FutureTechPilot I still cannot get it. My screen is different to yours as it shows Aspect Ratio etc on the left but there is no export option below it. If I click create, I just get back to a gallery of images I created earlier not in the editor. So I basically have an image in the editor I want to save but there appears to be no way of doing it

@@FutureTechPilot No. I ended up screenshotting , Then I tried the retexturing and the upscale and download options were there. So I just located my edited pictures and when in the retextured area could download them as is

With 6.1 and my personalization code I get lots of cleavage and not infrequent partial or full nudity on more than 50% of the sci-fi/fantasy women I prompt for (usually without trying to specify anything about their clothing). However as expected, trying to import an MJ generated sketch of one such woman into the editor, was of course denied.
@@Miths000this annoys me a lot. Midjourney spits out images which are borderline porn without been asked for that, but god forbids if you usr a girl with gym clothes as reference for a generation.

For some parts, but you're right, the layout of the website has changed a lot this year. Which is why I'll be remaking it when Version 7 comes out!

@@FutureTechPilot I managed to get a generation by using the prompt enhance tool. When the instructions were more clear... MJ would produce results... when I left it quite open... it seemed to shut down

Thank you for you efforts and useful tips along with office hour updates but hoping that someone from midjourney watches your video or maybe you get a chance to ask it as a question in some office hours, i would like to know when is midjourney going to do something about image quality. I have been a long time supporter of midjourney but for quite a while now they are acting like nokia of the past. While i appreciate new features here and there, the quality of images , specially in version six are not good for most part unless you are making an art style. Most of the time images are overbaked, full of artifacts and many other issues like disfigured faces hands etc. I am not a newbie and i know how prompting works but still there is too much fight to get a decent image regularly without errors specially photorealistic images. I hope they come out of their wokeness and improve the product like their competitors and not waste time talking philosophies every week.
I think the Creative Upscaler fixes a lot of those issues!
