When I started using Patrick’s technique for skin prep, I bought some of the Skyn Iceland Arctic Face Oil. Still not cheap, but it’s not La Mer expensive and I’ve been loving the results I get with it.

For the La Mer creme, anything thick and emollient will do. Something like the embryolisse creme or anything with petrolatum will do the same exact thing as the La Mer. As for the oil, literally almost any oil formulated with other things will work the exact same. Some of my oil recommendations would be rosehip oil, marula oil, or the Pixi vitamin c oil. I hope this helps :)

Any beauty oil would work. There is a distinction between oils with like active AHA type of ingredients and then oils just meant to give a glow. The AHA oils will potentially ruin your base bc it breaks down the makeup.

That was a lot of fun to watch! I especially loved watching how you achieved that “bitten” lip look- it’s not one I can wear (my lips are too thin for it to be effective) but I love seeing it done. While I know it’s been done, I’d still love to see you take on some recreations of classic screen sirens- Hedy Lamarr, Rita Hayworth, Liz Taylor. I think the looks of the 40s/50s would be very much in tune with your love of monochrome, since they tended toward simple eyes and a standout lip and of course, they had shading and contouring that had to come through in black and white, so it was more about technique and less about color.
