  • "The Music of Lew Stone and his Orchestra (1929-42)" made by the Composer Collection, 05/04/2021.
This video takes a look at one of the most renowned British dance band arrangers and dance band leaders, and that is Lew Stone (1898-1969). He recorded in 1929, 1932-42, 1946 and 1949.
Note the full length of these recordings were not included in this video to prevent copyright. Credit to the people that provided the original transfers of the audio included in this video.
Update (06.02.24): The second track in this video is a pseudonym for the Wabash Dance Orchestra on the Schallplatten-Volksverband (Duophone) label, which read "Lewis Stone and his Orchestra". Until writing this update, I was unaware that this was not directed by Lew Stone; it's an American band that includes Red Nichols, Miff Mole and Gene Krupa in the personnel (September 1928), but was only released in Europe.
Lastly, 'Basin Street Blues' was recorded in 1940, not 1941.
