Larry Graham, as the bass guitarist for Sly and the Family Stone invented the slap and pluck bass you now hear on nearly every funk music cut.
If you were to check out Luther Vandross's "A House Is Not A Home" it would either knock you out or cause you to levitate. Make it the live performance at the NAACP Image Awards. Trust me.
Oh yesss, a definite must, he would replay it over and over!!!
80s gems with funk, soul, or passion:
Billy Preston and Syreeta -With You I’m Born Again,
Ambrosia -You’re the Only Woman
Carl Carlton - She’s a Bad Mama Jama
Diana Ross- It’s My Turn
Tom Tom Club- Genius of Love
And just because these are two of my favorites from the 80s I must add INXS - Don’t Change and ELO -Hold On Tight
That is one hell of a list !
@@davidbordonaro1631 awww, why thank you.
That's a wedding party song bet it was used in The Love Boat
Probably a little late in the game but “Down Under” by men at work is quintessential 80’s. Thriller by MJ, Prince, Purple Rain, and 1984 by Van Halen….
There's alot there I know (86 baby) but van halen 1984 I don't recognise!
Check out his 1981 hit “ Just Be My Lady”.
Oh, man. This takes me back. Thanks Hector for bringing all the soul / R&B joy. 🎶😎
Soon as I saw the title of the vid, I knew you would lose it! Keep the soul coming:
⭐️"Congratulations" by Vesta Williams
⭐️"Thanks For My Child" by Cheryl Pepsi Riley
⭐️" I Wanna Be Your Man" by Roger
Got to listen to Johnny guitar Watson
Al Jarreau is the guy for you. "We're in this Love Together"
Larry Graham was the bass player for Sly and the Family Stone
He sounds like the great Nat King Cole.
I remember this song from anniversary parties I would bartend at. Haven't heard it in a long time💕
I knew you would love that crescendo at the end! Keep being you! You make this old woman so happy!
On form the 80s the honey drippers sea of love
You are hilarious!! I believe he still tours.
This takes me back to high school. A lot of belt buckle polishing went on to this one on the dance floor. lol
He’s Drakes uncle, btw. He’s a beast on the bass.
Is that right?! Never knew that! ♡
@@EC-dz3fbYes, he is the brother of Drake’s father.
In addition to Larry Graham’s contributions to music, he was a close friend and mentor to Prince. He’s credited with introducing Prince to his Jehovah’s Witnesses faith 🙂
also he's the uncle of a rapper called Drake. Don't know him myself.
One of my all time favorite love songs.
He also played with Prince in the Noughties…songs for later
Bass player for the Sly and Family Stone and a great bass vocalist! A natural
I bet you don't know "Into the Night" by Benny Mardones. It was played a lot in 1980. Its pretty obscure. The guys voice is really gorgeous.❤
D.O.C. Diggy Diggy Doctor or Its Funky Enough which were both very early productions from Dr Dre on the beats and the D.O.C. from Dallas Tx was on his way to being one of the greatest rappers of all time before his car wreck in the 80s that destroyed his voice box. Check him out Mark 🙌
I remember this track, hes got a great voice
God, i miss the days of beautiful music and real musicians playing real instruments. Thank you for the beautiful memories, hector.
I don't remember this at all but LARRY YOU ARE LUSH. Gorgeous. See you on the dance floor Hector, bit of a smooth soul moment? Right see you there then. You say when and me you and Larry will sizzle!
Sold! Let's do this
@@brainsqueezereactions Name the day and time, it's a date!
Check out Howard Johnson "so fine" track. So classic ❤
Rick James. Give it to me baby or In the Ghetto.
One of my sons was ADHD. You are my guilty pleasure and I could be your grandma. ❤
I love this guy and this channel and I am "70". I have been watching my SUN for 2 or more years.
I'm trying to remember this......will wait and see. Some of the 80s is very...hazy lol.
WOW....A song about When a woman can save you from the depths of hell.
Haven't heard this songs in years.
Up there with Whitney Houston "Didn't we almost have it all".
Keep Rockin!!!!!!
I would slow dance with anyone to this song.
The depth of his range is incredible. His velvet and smooth tones did give Barry White vibes! We are off to a great start in the 80's.
Hello again Hector, loving your reactions, never heard this song before but know him from being a member of Sly & the Family Stone and I think you would love their song Everyday People. love, light and peace, Paul.
Nice.. slow.. sexy + velvety ❤
Thank you 😊
Didn't know this Hector.👏👏👍 You might know 1 this but it's worth giving it a shout out. Odyssey "going back to my roots" dirty funky r&b disco 81 i think.
Laurie Anderson is a bit off-road or Andersen, Thomson Twins, and uhh hey i'll dump a list of no more than 20, and only good ones
Larry is an innovative bass player, played with Sly and the Family Stone, a funk master and pioneer. Fun reaction. Maybe add “My Favorite Thing” by the Replacements for some rock and roll 80s style. Thanks.
barry white love serenade. bet u ain't heard this one.
Try 2pac Better Days
The one with the Isley brothers
Larry Graham...so fantastic. His musicianship is top-tier, voice is seduction on a stick.
This is 70s, but Bootsy Collins -I’d rather be with you. 🤘🏾
I know that track!!!!!!!!
Check out High Road Easy by Sass Jordan
Great start of the 80’s!! R& B & Soul music carried on from the fantastic 70’s! Don’t forget to find & discover Ms. Tina Turner 60’s into 90’s 🥰 Bryan Adams a Canadian rocker ( also did duets with Ms Tina) , you can’t do the 80’s without some BILLY IDOL, more Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, MORE Marvin Gaye please /and the list gets bigger 🤣 Hector you are doing great & your wonderful reactions truly make my day / decades !
PS I think you would love George Thorogood & The Destroyers official video of BAD TO THE BONE 🔥💥
Ok Hector, I know you want obscure groups but you gave them a shot last week and loved them. Dire Straits-“Telegraph Road” was released in 1982. 14 minutes long and leaves you wanting much more!!! Absolutely a great song.
Maybe you’ve also heard of Billy Idol but if you’re not familiar with him I recommend “Rebel Yell”.
Is that what's going on with all the more obscure or lesser known songs for the decades?
Level 42 - Something About You 🔥🔥🔥 1984-85 I believe
Oh Hector, you've got me good for 80's week!!!!!! I can hear this in my head before you even play it!!!!💜💜💜🤗🤗🤗 I will suggest Superstar by Luther Vandross...
Adding now! 😊😊😊😊🤍
@@brainsqueezereactions, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
This band really got to me in high school in the late seventies. I can't tell you how much respect I have for them. Check out an amazing song and it is a hit definitely it's off their greatest hits album, Color Me true. Do you laugh at the bosses jokes when they ain't funny? Color Me true. It's such a great groove.
Ohhh this is my kind of music for sure... v❣❣❣🎼🎵🎶🎙... Ok the neighbors are poking straws in their ear canal... BUT I ROCKED THAT ONE!!!! 🤣😂 Good thing you did not play it again.. I am sure I would have broken somethings.. LOL Bye Loretti!! 🤣😂🤣
Not eighties 70s but from one to another You gotta listen to "strawberry letter 23" shuggie otis
Need to do some SADE. Sexiest 80's music
Candy by Cameo. Loves Train by Con Funk Shon.
80's you probably won't know, Cold Chisel Bow River (Live in 83)
Be good reaction to
Funkadelic track
Maggot Brain
Can I recommend Rags and Bones by NoMeansNo for an 80's joint? It's Canadian hardcore punk band, something a bit different, it's funky, mad and almost has bars great lyrics in there. Not your normal stuff from 1989.
Hey. Did you go through the 70s already? I didn't think I slept that long
Appreciate what you do, but my 80's wasn't just a different life, but solar system!! Junkyard, Salty Dog, Bang Tango, Dangerous Toys, Ugly Kid Joe, Bulletboys!!! Jus Sayin, not HATIN!!!
Sounds like the WISH version of Marvel superheroes 🤣🤣🤣
Hey. Have you done Dopefiends diner 2Pac if not you’re missing out

Definitely zelda🎉
Hey, I’m new to your channel. I love your reactions. Have you heard Aretha Franklin’s song? Don’t play that song for me and Elmo James the sky is crying check them out❤
Do you got more than just I'll mind if Hopsin 1?
MARK MARK MARK , you are the best man you are the best you are the best you are the best you are the best you are the best you are the best you are the best!
I implore you. I am somewhat of an expert of Pink Floyd. I have been to seven Pink Floyd concerts, and one Roger Waters concert, however, I know that you are listening to many different genres of music but if you really want to blow your mind, and I mean really wanna blow your mind, just try two things. Whenever you have time, please, I promise you you won’t be disappointed. I have written text to you before about listening to a particular Pink Floyd song called several small species of furry animals gathered in a cave and grooving with a pict. Also, I would like you to compare a 1975 live concert version and the tour of the Animals album. When they open the they play their version of the time of the song, Sheep, however, it wasn’t called sheep, but I want you to hear the rawness And the grit of that song in the embryonic stage of its existence right now. You are the best reactor to music, especially the music of the past. I believe you realize all the things we experienced in the 70s, by the way, I am 65. I have watched and re-watched your reactions many many times because they are supremely entertaining and so are you. People just don’t understand. If you find it in your heart to contact me I would love to be your friend over texting. And I am a big fan and Pink Floyd. Thank you and I hope this text finds its way to you.
Hopefully a new friend Barry Abramson
