oh no! why she said that! it's untrue! charmed never cancelled! it was on 7th season with the regular rates n CW wants 2 end there n the cast n producer fight for a last season n ended up with good terms with the fans n the story (well not all... prue's character...), n CW decided 2 renew 4 a one n final season 'cause 4 the good rates of the season finale. but it never cancelled the show at the end of the show!
+ragbforever Officially TheWB cancelled Charmed. A 9th and 10th season were considered but in the end they just cancelled it.
+ragbforever We can consider ourselves lucky that they even did an eight Season of Charmed. It almost didn't happen. In a lot of countries (including France and Germany) the S7 finale was promoted as the series finale because it was very unsure at this point if Charmed would return.
dust2k13 very true. Even the Charmed crew didn't know for a long time. That's why Brad Kern had written two possible endings for the S7 finale. Alyssa said in Charmed Magazine that she liked the idea of possibly killing off the Charmed Ones in the finale as well. That it would make for a very dramatic ending. I'm glad they didn't do that :p
The WB announced that the series was canceled despite the fact that the lead actresses contracts had expired it was an annoyance but it was obviously ending but they announced they canceled it instead of saying it was coming to an end

Alyssa wasn't even in Melrose Place when it was a hit she didn't join until the dismal final seasons that no one cared about.
You are right to a point. She started on the show at about the end off the fifth season of Melrose place. She was in the whole sixth season and the beginning of the seventh season. But you are right at that point she show was going down hill. She left Melrose Place to star in Charmed!!

Romantically challenged averaged about 9 million viewers. i dont see why abc canceled it after only showing 4 of the 6 episodes they filmed. Mistresses had way less viewers and went on for 4 seasons

I think Charmed wasn't her best role. I would like to see her in other roles tho, since my first time seeing this actress was on Charmed. She is very beautiful.
I never knew she did any work after charmed 🔮 guess the other shows wasn't smash Hits 🤷 but still till this day Phoebe is one of her greatest acting roles ❤ you Alyssa
Mistresses did work, its been renewed. Only Alyssa decided to leave the show to focus on her family.
andreskizzo That and due to financial budgets the location of the show was moved to Canada I believe and she couldn't pick up and leave but, she is game to return later in the future. It's similar to the show 'Nashville' while the show is filled there, due to budgets they want to move the filming location to Vancouver but the city of Nashville is hoping their real mayor can raise the funds to keep ABC filming there.

Charmed was canceled whaaaat?
kimonos It's actually alot of confusion about that. Many reports said Rose and Alyssa did not want to return and the only one that signed for season 9 was Holly. Then another report said Rose was fighting with the studio the Warner Brothers which changed to the CW at the time, because they weren't promoting the show right at the time and they felt like the 'ugly stepsisters' of the network. But all in all I miss the show.
kimonos I think there was an interview with them that they said "Why cancel a show with no cast coming back..." or something like that. All I knew was that Alyssa and Rose were set on not coming back. Their contracts expires in season 8. Alyssa also said she was expensive, so she was realistic that the network will not renew them and that may be one of the reasons as well.
+kimonos The WB was never going to renew Charmed for a ninth season. They treated Charmed badly, never advertised it the way it should be and a lot of cast and crew members were annoyed by that. Alyssa and Rose didn't care anymore because of it, the way Charmed was treated, they'd rather see it end when they were still strong. Holly wanted to continue, Charmed has always been very special to her but she agreed that they were treated like the "ugly stepchild" of the network.
+kimonos Charmed actually was to end after Season 7 but got renewed last minute as Brad Kern promised the WB a spin off character with Billie Jenkins. Billie however was massively unpopular with viewers and no spin off happened. Charmed truly had an awful ending.

No. I was a big fan of Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty for many years before Charmed. I love all the Charmed ladies, but my favorites are Alyssa and Shannen.
