I'm struck by the parallels between Arn and Beowulf: winning honour defeating the monstrous man-giant, and looking forward to an ultimate fate in which he will face the drake. Beware Arn, that fire-breather was made of non-Beo degradable stuff!
Behold and hear, a giant bellowed dead, From whispering spear of warriors dread. Held aloft, steadfast and thrust with might, Arn felled, Tahir the invincible, this cold night. Sigfast and silver, stolen and yet found, Returned to Bleakhall safe and sound. Feasting and song from Thorhilder to Arn, A vow fulfilled, blood upon the Skarn.
"Gather round the fire this cold night, and hear the tale of Arne. Bane to the Foes of Men. Wielder of the Spear of Veslidi. Hunter of Dragons! IRONLANDER!"...
considering how refir was always a bit out of frame for the entire expedition, arne really did look like some mythical hero. climbs up the cliff, two bodies drop. challenges a giant, wins with not even a scratch on him AND THEN completely subdues and entire bandit camp with sheer charisma.
Talk about a moment of cool. Arn really deserved that taste of glory between all the hardships of getting so far and everything he's going to face from now on. It's crazy that despite being everything randomly generated how well things fall into their place... that mining camp is very probably the last bastion of ironlander civilization and it feels like it's also going to be the last place where Arn gets to enjoy human company before facing something possibly no human faced before him - except for his grandfather of course, who's maddened spirit is his only companion now. Arn walks into the dark and cold... will he return with the title of Dragonslayer? And will such things even have meaning to him after what he's about to experience and learn?
It's about time Arn catches a break. Man that duel tho, Simply badass!! Congrats on the other ventures and may your channel continue to grow Trev. More success and love to you
EPIC episode! Thanks again Trevor, your storytelling is on point and is gripping. The tale of Arn Giantsbane continues to unfold and has us clamoring for more! Have a grand week and an ever greater weekend! Slainte!
That was an excellent episode. Well, they're all excellent. But still, Action! Intrigue! Suspense! This one had it all. I'm also curious as to how all that xp is going to be spent.
Excellent episode, as always. A rules question, though... are you really allowed to Sojourn twice? According to the rulebook: "Your Sojourn should require several hours or several days, depending on your current circumstances and level of aid and recovery required. Make this move only once when visiting a community, unless the situation changes. " /Rules lawyer
“When you spend time in a community seeking assistance, roll +heart. If you share a bond, add +1. On strong hit, you and your allies may each choose two from within the categories below. On a weak hit, choose one. If you share a bond, choose one more. *On a hit, you and your allies may each focus on one of your chosen recover actions and roll +heart again*. If you share a bond, add +1. On a strong hit, take +2 more for that action. On a weak hit, take +1 more. On a miss, it goes badly and you lose all benefits for that action.”
Fortunately, the crooked was here to help ! I love all your figs and modular stuff to create sceneries. Where dis you get all of that ? I'm looking for abordable stuff for my solo games. Anyway great episode, full of tensions !!
This story of Arn is fantastic as a display of Ironsworn as a solo RPG. I would love to see you run Ironsworn as a Guide for friends and/or colleagues at some point. I think it would be just as fascinating.
Another question: I heard you bought miniatures. For my play with ironsworn I want to buy a couple of figures. I am new to this. Any recommendations? Thanks
he got luck they didn't all attack him at once, I think he should have had men sent with him and maybe along with thorhlida to end the bandits, it would make more sense, thorhlida sent him on suicide mission
Disagree with narrative on the Raiders. Individuals that are deathly loyal, and your representation of the bandits outside, incline more towards trained soldiers or miners gone renegade or exiled. Given where they are in the world, normal untrained folk would be hard-pressed to survive without raiding targets. As for the lead not being human, there are options, just from scanning the book for Varou. You don't just have to pull from the creature kits for "enemy" leaders. The Husk early on was an interesting angle, gave gravitas and weight to the supernatural side of things, despite being nearly improbable to encounter. Doing the same thing again weakens the impact of that narrative point.
Well, it finally happened to this channel, as it happens to all newish channels after meeting a measure of success. The uploads get both shorter and less frequent as the creator devotes more and more time to spin-offs and aftershows and all the other stuff unrelated to the content which made him popular in the first place, and then locks it all behind a paywall. Bummer -- Me, Myself and Die was a ton of fun when it was a passion project. I have no issues with collecting money for all the hard work that goes into a project like this, it's just a shame when the main project gets backburnered in favor of the paid content
David, I can assure you that there will be a season 3, and the main show will never be locked behind a paywall. I have had to go to a biweekly production schedule due to my voiceover career, not because of Patreon stuff. I would release one episode a week if I had the time - I promise! - but these episodes take.a *gargantuan* amount of work. Anyway, thanks for watching. I appreciate the viewership, and I hope you continue to stay with us.
@@MeMyselfandDieRPG Yeah, well, I've been watching since you started, and recently subscribed. I recognize your professionalism and admire your adlib qualities and wish I could do the same during my solo journeys. So, today I signed up on patreon because I realize your channel's content is more entertaining to me than a subscription to a digital tv feed. There are those of us who recognize your voice/acting talent and are bedazzled by your enthusiasm for this medium as a hobby. I eagerly look forward to your next video, whatever its content. Hopefully, more will encourage your to keep doing this, by whatever means available to them.
@@MeMyselfandDieRPG Wow, thank you so much for the response! I've seen it happen to many a good channel, and as this is one of my absolute favorites, I'm terrified of losing this one too. Fun Fact: Ironsworn's Rulebook counts Giants as "Firstborn". Meaning Firstborn-Slayer maybe a more accurate title considering Arn's kill count.
"This is... potentially... *really dumb,* but..."
Famous last words of any ttrpg character

lol at the expression after "the RPG library I've accumulated after....fortyplus years"...

Elfsbane, giantsbane...he just keeps collecting amazing titles.
One of the best episodes! That was the "strooong hit!" for sure. It is worth to wait two weeks for this. Thank you Trevor!

He needed this lil crooked man just to show him the way 😆.
What a great episode!
I feel like I've learned how to play Ironsworn just by watching this series.
Many thanks!
I'm learning English and this is perfect for me, Trevor has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard!
A lot of voices 😃

This show is very underrated. It's sooo good! You're storytelling in this episode had me at the edge of my seat the entire time 😄
Arne is a certified badass. Simon wouldn’t recognize him!
The music on this episode was out of this world. Great editing, Trevor!
Arn, you absolute madman! What a great and well-needed victory for him after all his struggles and trials.
Oh my God!! Arn is insane!! There is a million ways this could have gone wrong...

Every time I watch I'm reminded why this is my favorite UA-cam channel.
Arn Giantsbane sounds epic!
Thanks for the hard work, Trevor!
Arn Giantsbane! Hell yea! That was an awesome fight!
Really wondering what that mystery is now that's driving the dragon to kill his bloodline!
Strong episode for Arn today! It's good to see some victory.
Strong Hit on Compelling Episode!

Like others I must add my - that was a great episode, probably my favourite of Season 2 so far. Great work!
Just caught up to this episode, so epid! Loving the series!
Simon would have tripped over the spear and fallen in the well. Arn has so much better luck with the dice.
You’re getting better with the camera angles :) and the editing

Wow, another great episode. Superb story and characters. Really, wishing for a book adaptation. Thanks for such a great work.

Oh, my mini collection is a hodgepodge from 40 years of collecting. You might want to check out Reaper miniatures, they seem to have a good selection.
Arn Kalapunki, Haven's Bane, Giant's Bane.
Will you play Starforged when its out? Maybe even with a female main character. You must have some Sci- Fi minis and sets you want to share :)

Simon in space.
I just realized Tahir and Uraz Vath have similar voices
Arne Giantsbane, Doom of the First Folk. No foe can stand before him, except for long haired women. 😂

Wait, how has this been viewed fewer than 7k times? That's an outrage and a travesty!
I wanted Arn to become the bandit leader. Turn them into Robin Hood’s merry men and use them to assist in his over arching vows
