Love this video and how honest you have been about therapy. I completely get where you are coming from with NHS therapy. I had a few sessions with an NHS therapist and felt the same, like they didn't care and it was just a job to them. I'm so glad you have started found something that is working for you 💛
Loved this beaut! It always upsets me to hear how substandard most people's experience of counselling/therapy is on the NHS. Maybe one day that will change! CBT is actually something I'm considering specialising in at a later stage in my career, so it was awesome to hear about your experience with it! ❤
I'm sad to say that compared to most people, my experience with NHS mental health services has been very positive. When I hear other people sharing their stories with waiting times etc I realise how lucky I have been! It's definitely not a fault of the individual workers though, it's the system as a whole
It's definitely gutting as a MH professional when you know you aren't doing the best for your patient but there is literally nothing you can do about it! ❤
I had CAMHS counseling when I was 16 too, I didn't feel like my counselor really cared either and ended up faking being okay so I could stop seeing her in the end. They really need to work on the quality of their counsellors! Also I have the same anxiety about public transport, mostly about not being in control and panicking I won't get there in time or I'll miss my stop or won't be able to get out of the train station, so I feel you girl
Awesome video, Beth! Thank you for an honest account of therapy in the UK, but one that is also very positive :) I wonder if you had the same counsellor as me at uni - I've just finished my stint of appointments and your experience sounds so similar to mine! All the best, and good luck with your final year!! xxxx
me too.but i didnt got treatment before 24 when i got diagnosted with aspergers(before had adhd)wish to got treat and medicated as early as possible take abilify and seroquel.it really helps calm down sleep better and be talkactive.greetings louis
BetterHelp seems like a great service and I'm considering it, but £27 a WEEK... Not exactly possible as a student :( I'll stick with being on the waiting list for university counselling
+Louise Cole i agree, it's not really possible on a student budget :( it's still way cheaper than other private therapy though, which is generally £50+ an hour 💕
TheKingBeth have you got to the root of the problem? is it university? you have to enjoy university. I assume you don't drink alcohol, obviously you can't drink too much now you are on meds. is it the work load? do you not like university?

Anomalous Chloe CBT is great. My last group therapy was CBT based and it was the best therapy.
Thanks for sharing your story. It's good to know that things can get better.
