What kind of saw did you use to cut your door? I'm getting ready to install an automatic electronic pet door and I've seen a lot of videos where they had to go on both sides and cut the door. You did not So I'm trying to figure out what saw you used.
Good video. I still don't understand why so many people install pet doors in actual doors instead of a wall. At least if you make a mistake in the drywall it's an easy cheap fix, whereas if you're mistake with a door It's a $200 mistake to replace the door. That's not to mention the security risk of how easy it would be for someone to access to your house by simply reaching through the pet door to unlock your door by putting their arm through the pet door.
The door would have been cheaper than the repair to the wall. Outside was redwood lap siding and inside was true tongue and joint wainscoting. Both would have had to be custom milled to repair.
If I had only one per that would be using the door then I agree on measuring my pet. I have a lab and two cats that use the door so it was the best height for all. Thank you for your suggestion, I think others who watch and read the comments will be able to use the tip.
Excellent job Sir, Thank you!

I used a scroll saw with a long enough bi-metal blade to go through both sides.

You did a good job, but perhaps the first thing you should have done is to measure the dog/cat so you would place the door at the right height.
