I grew up by Rockingham motor speedway in the late 60s and early 70s and 80s and, I remember watching these cars, BlueMax, ChiTown Hustler, Jungle Jim, the snake and mongoose and many others, Bob Glidden, Sox and Martin, Warren Johnson, Ram Chargers, Reher Morrison , and so many more. We used to drive around Southern Pines, and Aberdeen NC, the motels, the guys would be outside working on their cars. We would go Friday and camp out all weekend, those were simple great days. I don't know what happened so many great track shut out of NHRA, IHRA, ADRA, now it's all about money and spec cars. Warren Johnson said screw it, only the top fuel cars get coverage, I always enjoyed the sportsman classes. Thanks for posting, this is good stuff, I reckon I'm getting old. 👍👍🏁🏁😁

A friend told me that every time Jungle and Pam would make a run, the pits would be empty and everyone went to watch them. Mostly for Pam.
She dressed differently in the good old days! I enjoyed watching her then!
Thankfully, she has the good sense not to dress like that at her current age.

i meet jungle pam at island dragway in great meadows NJ last year she is the most friendly person known &i also got my picture taken with her

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear the announcer even acknowledge JP being there. She is a racing icon and deserves the respect. RIP Jungle Jim....
I heard them mention her 3 times during this clip, saying how she still gets the job done....need hearing aids ?
The announcer did mention Pam, but what surprised me was all of the dudes on the sidelines not even acknowledging her presence as she passed but a few yards in front of them.For whatever reason, Pam is as much a part of NHRA history as almost anyone.

I ahh know the owner of the car even with a fat bank account it’s hard keeping 3 nostalgia cars running solid finding parts is getting tough and a lot of newer top fuel parts are slowly creeping into the picture.

I remember sitting in the tower & watching Jungle Jim race Kosty Ivanof in the Boston Shaker when they both had Monza bodies. My mom worked in the tower back then. If I had the money I'd LOVE to build either a Boston Shaker or Yankee Sizzler Nostalgia funny car.

When I think of "Ladies" in racing the FIRST 2 names that come to mind are: Linda Vaughan and "Jungle" Pam. I KNOW! They didn't race, but WOW! Some GREAT memories of seeing both!

Yeah judging from her Legends interview I thought she didn't agree with tribute cars. Strange indeed, I suppose perhaps she was paid well or she changed her opinion; to be fair folk can change their opinions on things.
Looks to me like one of Jungle's original cars, with current safety mods. She did say she'd back up the original cars.

Well at least it wasn't naked crewman "Berserko Bob" Doerrer backing the car up...I remember an NHRA official telling the story that Doerrer and Pam pulled the stunt with Doerrer butt naked backing up Jim at Englishtown during early qualifying...He said the NHRA had their panties in a bunch over that one...Being from Chicago I saw them at Great Lakes often....RIP old friend...

Ahhhh, the good ole days of drag racing in the Real USofA of years gone by!!.... sad, but true!

There was even more significance to that run when you think about it. Crazy Jake drove Jungle's car at least once. There's a video here on UA-cam.

OMG, the heavy duty crush I had on her when I was a kid.... whew. I loved her. She was the uber-babe. She's also responsible for well over a few thousand trillion drain babies I made with her in mind. I'm sure I wasn't the only kid who had "soggy" Jungle Pam pictures. She still looks good today. Drag racing is faaaaar out!

JJ was a god among men in the flopper driver business....and JP is the matriarch of women in the sport......Judy Lilly, Shirley....sure.....but on the Mt Rushmore of women in racing, Pam is there....the youngsters need to wait their turn....you don't get into the hall of fame till you put in your time.......Pam has put in the time.....she's an ambassador.

I saw an interview or an article, I can't recall which where4 Pam said that there was one restored Jungle Jim Vega and that was the only Jungle Jim car she would work with. she does not like the recreations at all.
Please don't ever post another video until you learn to hold the camera still.
