It's incredibly hard, impossible to play exactly like him but it's always fun to try because I always find myself falling in love all over again with his playing and that monstrous sound!
@@ArnosticThat's because no matter what anyone says man Malcolm is the best rhythm player in history bar fucking nobody. Anyone that can top him isn't real because they don't exist. There is no tighter rhythm player than Mal and there never will be.
He used .12 gauge strings late in his career, but he used to use acoustic guitar strings. In the Powerage era, it’s very hard to see, but if you look at live footage of the time (late 76-early 78), his strings are gold/bronze. So it’s possible he was using even thicker strings than .13 gauge, maybe even .14’s… Also, a TON of work was done to his Gretsch to keep it in tune, including a Badass wraparound roller bridge. This certainly helped.

His g string never goes out of tune. Heard he used a wound g.
