"I will probably forget it tomorrow." "Just try to remember." A good language teacher will understand that shifting the responsibility for this to the learner is a cop-out. A good teacher understands that spaced repetition is an essential part of helping their learners internalize the material, which is what eventually leads to actual fluency, as opposed to just trying to memorize rules. In language learning, you must play the long game.
A fun fact is that the question has been done byca Brazilian girl. In Brazil, although there is suffering education system, even the worse schools teach teach these subjects in Portuguese. Transitive verbs which result in direct object and indirect object (complement with preposition) and intransitive verb which don't require complement. 👍👊
I got here to clear my confusion about transitive and intransitive and now I’ve to add direct and indirect object to my list as well. 😂tnx Tim for nothing!!
Hello my dear, please allow me to answer this question. When we say the files are ready to download it means that the files will do the action " download" which is imposible. So the correct sentence is the second one because somebody will download the files that are ready. Hope I have helped you. Thanks BBC English.
Very good explanation.....but sometime we use transitive action verb like play, eat, drink without object in the sentences while spoken English for example.... PersonA- where are your children? Person B-they are playing in the garden. In this example 'play' is transitive action verb but it has not taken object like they are playing 'cricket' in the garden. is it ok to use transitive action verb without object? If it is ok then what to say to verb'play'in below sentence. They are playing in the garden. In above sentence....the verb 'play'....is it transitive or intransitive. Plase let me know......
in arabic there is some verbs it can be transitive or untransitive, example : sit, present, playing, eating, and etc. If you want to make a further explanation, in the sentence above there is deleted words, why had deleted? because many reasons. They are playing (any games) in the garden. why became deleted? because we dont want to spesific it, maybe the children is play many games in the garden, if we say immediately "They are playing cricket in the garden" how if they played football? so we dont want to make a restriction for them. the reason 2 is to make the conversation simply, without adding some unnecessary words like that. That is from my lectures in arabic, thank you
Please let me know if I understand this correctly. In a definition defining the term "vehicle" as being any device in, upon, or by which any person or property is or may be transported upon a public highway; the term "transport" is a transitive verb, the terms "person or property" are the direct objects, and the term "public highway" is the indirect object. Is this correct?
Yeah, have them very well defined in Basque. Auxiliary verb to have for Transitive, to be for intransitive. Arabic has VSO for transitives SO for intransitive. ..
Hi there. We don't need to use preposition 'to' with all verb object combinations - for example we use: 'write to me' but not 'call/ email/ message, or text me. ' In American English 'to ' is also not used with write - i. e. 'write me' Hope that helps.
People always complain about everything. Just study or don't even bother. That comment comming from a Portuguese speaker which grammar derives from Latin, is simply idiotic.😂
it is funny how i don't speak like this Brasilian girl at all. i am from Brasil and i am so happy and proud of myself because i don't have this horrible " Brasilian accent". i am studying English just for 2 years and a half and many people around the world ( friends that i have on line) think i am native speaker from America. i feel incredibly good. Unfortnately i can't make this beautiful British accent! i think it is impossible.
Tim has an extraordinary diction and an excellent British accent that we all like, I have learned a lot with his voice, Tim Go ahead.
"I will probably forget it tomorrow."
"Just try to remember."

He is trying to make it funny for the kids watching, he probably knows that practice is better for fluency

1. The files are ready to download
2. The files are ready to be downloaded
Which one is correct and why???

I don't understand how a Brazilian can ask that about English when in Portuguese there are transitive & intransitive verbs as well.

Some verbs can be transitive and intransitive in English. They are called Ergative verbs.
Please let me know if I understand this correctly.

soooo, is Tim Tim or is Tim not Tim, if Tim is not Tim, then who is Tim?
English grammar is easy. You want unnecessary difficult grammar? try Spanish
Try Portuguese...hahahahahah!!!!
Try Czech 🙃
Try Tagalog. Tagalog has no grammar, just speak and write whatever you want😆😆
Or German
try turkish
I guess Mr Tim has made the transitive and intransitive more complex.
Poor Tim! He couldn't eat the banana because Tim ate it.
it still hard to me , I didnt got up , how can found differe between tran and intran
I have a question , please.
