Just got this mixer and I have to agree with you! Too many steps and things to remember. It’s not set up to do things on the fly!😕 I’m going to have to get used to it and live with my decision!😅
some people are fine with it - give it a go and see if you like it - you can always return it for something else. I'm coming from a huge amount of muscle memory and struggled with the layout.
Nice video, i don’t understand why a brand like pioneer can do a mixer like the s5, if you wanna do a great mixer you need to do a s5 mk2 like the s7 just with pads a little smaller and without hardware effects. (8 pads for channells + 4 little pads for modes saction)
I owned this mixer for about 2 weeks and sent it back to the shop. I had the same thing I found I couldnt figure out how to get out of certain modes such as scratch bank back to cue mode etc. It drove me crazy in the end I decided the mixer wasnt for me
I don’t have enough exp with it but objectively, the s5 is still a much better mixer. The Numark is the best bang for buck serato mixer imo, but it has some problems - especially in terms of the crossfader. While it’s an innofader, the Scratch routes the fader through the software rather than hardware and that makes the cut really mushy and no precise for scratching in serato. For vinyl it’s fine tho. Control wise, it’s super limited and resembles the S9 more than anything
@@djsoo Hey, thank you for the fast response. Are you sure the crossfader on Numark routes to software? Because if so, the mixer couldn’t work as standalone, right?
Just got the mixer today I use a lot of vinyl to scratch on. I had it set for line mode and I notice my curve adjustment doesn't do anything. So I switched to phono assuming maybe adjustments for xfader curve only work that way when using regular vinyl. I have no sound coming out at all when in phono. Any tips as to why? New to modern mixers. I have a Rane ttm 56 that I use and phono works fine. Also why do pads glow when in phono but are off when I switch to line on mixer?
Whoever decided this work flow was a great idea needed a boot up the arse tbh, it has almost zero similarities to my old s9, if it was supposed to get people accustomed to the standards of the s7 or the s11..it has done none of those things.... and fails on every count... A simplified s7 with maybe 4 cues, mode buttons... and say 3 built in hardware efx echo, reverb, flanger and parameter filter.. with a magvel crossfader would have been the perfect start up for beginners
Just got this mixer with Phase coming from a mainly vinyl mixing background. All fine except left deck keep going into internal mode when mixing. Wondering if I should plug it into power not just USB. Have you had any issues?
@@djsoo hi using wireless but think I worked it out be setting to another non Serato source then back again! Still trying to work the mixer out!!! Thanks for the message
1 - it’s a mixer not a controller 2 - at $900, it’s not really entry level - more midrange 3 - if it were set up to help people learn, it would reflect the standard control scheme that practically every other piece of gear they make uses - instead they decided to do something else that doesn’t exist in any other piece of gear they make.
So a entry level " controller" - actually a mixer- that has a totally different work flow to the s7 and s11??? That logic has its flaws don't you think?

I just bought this mixer! Wish I saw your vid before 😢

Good presentation and communication skills

hi, ive got the same feelings about this mixer. Regarding pioneer the only that rocks is the s11, but its not cheap :D. nice video man.

In your opinion, Numark Scratch is a better option? Especially considering the lower price

@@Guilherme-vx6jv yes it does - just like the rane one. On vinyl, it's hardware routed - which is why it feels so much better.
It has a delay problem in headphones and main master. Two day I purchased I going to return it

think that for the settings you have to connect it to the computer, even if you use vinyl
Ya vendí mi Kontrol Z2 para comprarme este 😮..... No se si mejor sea comprarme un S7 de segunda mano que este S5
Has there been any firmware updates to ease the workflow of this mixer. Seems like a fucking headache.
Esperen... tengo un SP1... Podría conservarlo si compro este mixer como ven.

DJM-S5 b/w headphone output with audio delay and master output, does anyone know how to fix this?
delay from the headphones or from the master? If it's the master, what you plugged into speaker-wise?
What a headache! If I get this mixer I’m getting an XP2 for sure
At that price difference, you might as well just get an s7 - although the s7 has problems too.

Dude, this is a midrange mixer and you sound like a Pro DJ. Please play in your league of s7, s9 or s11 but for me, I am going to buy it .
