Pierzynski explained that ejection at one point. He was mad about a pitch earlier in the at-bat. So he asked the umpire for a new ball. The ump asked him why and he said something to the effect of “I want one you can see so you can call strikes.” Immediately got the hook. Legend.
Poor asshole that took two fines ( every ejection the player is fined) because he was too hot headed or his pitcher was to argue the proper way he deserved both ejections , so did Stroman and Clint Hurtle

I think the managers should start pulling their players off the field when the umpires go into their power trips. Let's see what the networks say when they have to broadcast three hours of nothing.
MLB umps are some of the most ballsy guys in the world… you have guys who could knock you out with one right or left hook and you just stand there and take the verbal abuse like a d*ck knowing that the only thing holding them back is a very slight sense of pride as a professional and teammate…..
guys, in almost all of these clips, the players were "DEMONSTRATING" openly dissent. No plate umpire wants to eject a catcher! One of these was 2 outs in 9th inning. If you turn around, throw hands in air, point at, or draw a line, you are gone. In three out of those shown, your TV screen graphic strike zone box agreed with the call! Hope you like the ROBOTS in 2024 calling curves in the dirt, unable to adjust from 5'4" Jose' Altuve to 6'7" Aaron Judge, and the crouching 'batting stance at time of pitch' suance. I've seen what looked like almost shoulder high pitches and ankle high breaking balls declared strikes on minor/Independent League robo-umps, and you wanna talk ejections...
Maybe if these umpires would know how to do their jobs correctly, it wouldn't come to AI umpiring. But that fact that an umpire can be that close to the plate and not see the ball plainly inside or outside the strike zone seems like incompetence more than anything.
LOL. You win for the dumbest post of the day. First, most of these catchers did little to nothing to get tossed. Second, I am 100% for dumping these terrible umps. Software is more than capable of calling balls and strikes. The fact that you think there will be a robot behind the catcher really makes me laugh. Go back to using your slide rule and abacus since you're clearly not living in 2022.
These sorts of videos are why it is time to get rid of the home plate umpire calling balls and strikes. Software is WELL beyond the ability to do the job perfectly with no more human mistakes, no more arguing, etc. There are far too many professional umps and refs that failed as athletes and think they are the ones that the fan paid to see. Get rid of them.
The technology ISN’T there yet and it’s not perfect.. which is why they haven’t done it yet, the TV screen box & MLB’s official scorecard don’t always agree. We are getting there though..
