I've always drank it neat so when drinking any whiskey neat is the deal breaker because it's not diluted by the ice cubes. I've drank it for over 20 years when I wanted a whiskey at the bar.

Crown Royal like 99% of Canadian whiskey is a great mixer but when consumed neat it’s a big thumbs down. Compared to most good bourbon CR is a bottom shelf product.

Crown Royal is the best Whisky.
Unlike other Canadian Whiskies Crown Royal is pure grain without any neutral grain spirits like Black Velvet for an example.
